1973 Chevelle Malibu SS Colonnade Coupe
The third generation Chevelle (73-77) had the most extensive
redesign in its 10-year history. With it marked the introduction of the
newly named Colonnade Hardtop which featured a semi fastback roofline,
frameless door glass and fixed styled "B" pillars. Rear windows on
coupes no longer opened and the front and rear ends looked quite
different as 1973 was the first year of the federally mandated 5 mph
bumpers. Other firsts with the third generation were the 22 gallon fuel
tank, swivel bucket seats (coupes only) and it also boasted increased
interior and cargo space as well as better visibility. The newly
designed Chevelle also had a completely redesigned chassis which enabled
it handle significantly better than its predecessor and was ultimately
considered to be an exceptional driver’s car. This particular example
was nicely optioned with a 350 V8 engine, a Turbo Hydramatic
transmission, a 10 bolt posi rear end, the coveted SS package and is
accompanied by a build sheet for verification. It currently has 89,310
original miles. It was repainted in its original colors of Tuxedo Black
and Silver back in 2003 and it still shows very well. The interior is
completely original and ha held up incredibly well. The original 14”
rally rims were replaced with 15” billet aluminum rally rims that look
awesome but the originals are included. The carb was replaced with a
650cfm Edelbrock 4 barrel and it has an aftermarket stereo. You will
also notice that the valve covers and air cleaner have been replaced
with chrome ones but the originals are also included. Other than the
previously mentioned items, the performance exhaust and the battery this
car is all original. Based on the very low production numbers for this
year and the overall condition of this car it is priced to move! Price reduced to $14,900 Offers still considered! **************************************************************************************************************************************************** Additional pictures and a video of the engine running are available on our website. Autoblog Podcast #327:
This is your 2014 Chevrolet SS
Sat, 16 Feb 2013Think you've waited long enough for this? If so, then you'll want to savor the high-res photos we've so far been given of the 2014 Chevrolet SS, the first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan from The Bowtie in 17 years.
We all know its our version of the brand new VF-model Holden Commodore, but what's under the hood that earns the appellation "performance?" A 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine producing 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. That's 35 hp and lb-ft less than the same engine is expected to produce in the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. Chevrolet says the sedan will get from 0-to-60 miles per hour "in about five seconds."
Shifting comes courtesy of a six-speed automatic with paddles on the steering wheel, while stopping arrive via four-piston Brembo calipers up front, a single sliding piston in back. The forged aluminum wheels are 19-inchers all around, each set supporting right around 50 percent of the sedan's weight, and the aluminum hood and trunk are meant to keep the center of gravity low.
Chevy Corvette Stingray "colorizer" lets you chase the rainbow
Thu, 14 Feb 2013After you've convinced your better half to let you buy a new Corvette, then comes the hard part... actually figuring out which 'Vette you want. While Chevrolet has yet to release the official configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it did give us something else to kill some time playing around with.
The C7 Corvette "colorizer" recently went online, and it lets you look at the car in all of its available colors and wheel options from four different angles so that when this car does go on sale, you know exactly which one you want. It includes the Corvette's full pallet of colors including Torch Red, Laguna Blue and the hue you see above, Velocity Yellow. Toss in the black wheels, and we're sold. If you have some time this afternoon, be sure to check it out the Corvette colorizer for yourself, and even if you don't have the time, we've put together a gallery with all of the possible color combinations.
