1973 Chevy K5 Blazer Convertable on 2040-cars

Year:1973 Mileage:71800

Chenoa, Illinois, United States

Up for bid is my 1973 Chevy K5 Blazer 4x4.  It has the original 350 in it and a turbo 350 trans.  It has an awesome sounding exhaust with long tube headers that was custom made for this truck.  I removed the old points ignition system and installed a new MSD HEI distributor.  I installed a 4'' rough country suspension lift and new 35'' Cooper Discoverer STT tires.  Before I bought it, the transmission was rebuilt along with the carb.  The front drive shaft was removed when I got the truck and since I have never needed the four wheel drive I never put one in it.  I will include one with the sale to go in it.  Somewhere along the road the a/c was removed, the brackets and wiring are all still there just no compressor or lines. The interior has been completely redone with new carpet, reupholstered seats, and sound mat installed underneath the carpet. This is a very original truck with only one repaint.  It's hard for me to explain how solid this truck is.  Everything on the bottom side is still painted black with no rust what so ever.  I tried to show in one picture a few small pin holes in the bottom of the passenger fender.  The drivers side fender is dented on the bottom from a tire blowing out.  The paint job is fair, Its by no means a show paint job, but its really shiny and still looks good.  It has dents here and there nothing major or out of the ordinary for a 73.  When rolling up the back window you must be careful because it likes to come off the track.  The seals on the top could be replaced but I didn't worry about it cause I didn't drive it much with the top on it.  The engine has never been removed to my knowledge.  It runs AWESOME I would not be afraid to take it anywhere. It was bought new and spent most of its life in Tuscon, Arizona.  It is rock solid!!  To my knowledge I am only the fourth owner of this truck.  I purchased it from a guy in Chicago fall of 2011, he bought if from the second owner in Arizona and had it shipped to Chicago.  The guy I bought it from never even had the top on it.  It has seen no rain since he bought it.  I looked long and hard before I found this one.  They only made this style K5 blazer with the full removable top 73,74, and 75.  If you have any questions at all or would like to come see it please call 815-867-0116.

Chevy shows much-improved 2014 Corvette interior in new video

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

If you want a closer look at what went into designing and building the interior for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, we've got just the thing. General Motors has released a new video detailing the cabin's evolution from conception to execution, complete with commentary from Ryan Vaughn, performance car interior design manager with Chevrolet. The quick clip details how manufacturing, engineering and design within General Motors worked together from the first sketches to ensure no compromises had to be made later down the line. How novel.
With plenty of hides traced with contrast stitching and available real carbon fiber trim, the cabin looks to be a few hundred miles ahead of the C6. Given how readily critics derided the previous generation for its cabin, the C7 should make writers work a little harder to find something to complain about. Check out the video below for yourself.

Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
