1959 Corvette Restomod
I am selling this fantastic car due to health reasons. It was a two year project that was done by local craftsmen that have a reputation for classic restorations and ground-up builds. Regrettably , I have had only one summer to enjoy it and as you can see it barely has any miles on it. As a previous owner of several other pre 1979 Corvettes this one was built to have all the looks of the classic style with the performance of a C6.

Specifications :
  • New after market body mounted on a custom square tube powder coated frame
  • Underbody and firewall painted
  • Torch Red paint, White cove, clearcoat
  • C-4 independent front suspension with Corvette power rack, coil over shocks
  • Strange equipped Ford Racing 9" rear axle with 3.75 : 1 gear . Coil over shocks
  • LS-6 motor with retro covers (14,000 miles at install) ( 405 horsepower, 10.5 : 1 ratio )
  • Custom designed ,through the body, side exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, catalytic converters
  • Cadillac CTS-V  6 speed transmission
  • Polished aluminum mag wheels
  • New soft top and frame
  • Original stock rechromed bumpers
  • New glass
  • New stainless
  • Custom two tone vinyl seats
  • White faced reproduction guages
  • Flaming River tilt steering with "Crossed Flags" emblem
  • AM/FM stereo with i-Pod jack
  • In -dash and kick panel speakers
  • Specially designed tail lights in rear bumper exhaust openings
  • Gas tank relocated to area of spare tire well
This car gets looks wherever we go and has judges and car lovers stopping to ask questions at the few car shows we've attended. The only real caution I would have is that rag tops on these cars were not meant to drive though a rain storm and since we take it out on nice days only that hasn't been an issue even though we got caught one night we managed to stay dry. Many of these aftermarket bodies were designed as topless roadsters but we did modify this one to accommodate the rag top. It is a tight fit and is best raised an lowered by two people. You will notice there is no heater or AC in this car, two features we have never needed.

Many of these restomods are going well into the 6 figures at auction but the reserve on this is well below what these normally go for. The successful bidder will receive all the invoices associated with this build and will see that parts alone on this build came to just over 8OK. Except for the previously mentioned chip and touch up you are looking at a $10,000+ paint job.

I am happy to answer any questions I can. Since I am not not a mechanic I've included all the specifications that were provided to me by the builder. If I don't have an answer, I will be happy to find out.

Kurt Busch to shake and bake (again) in Ricky Bobby car at Talladega

Sat, 19 Oct 2013

Kurt Busch will channel Ricky Bobby for another NASCAR race, this time driving a Wonder-sponsored Chevrolet SS, in this weekend's Camping World RV Sales 500 at the Talladega Motor Speedway. Unlike past tie-ins, though, there's actually an element of sponsorship here (the "Me" car was done when Busch was running on a team without sponsorship).
It was arranged by Flower Foods, the new owner of the Wonder brand. Wonder was part of the bankrupt Hostess company, which temporarily exited the US market 2012, and set off the Great Twinkie Shortage.
Busch has made something of a habit of channeling characters from famous racing movies, most recently running Tom Cruise's City Chevrolet livery from Days of Thunder in a Nationwide Series race earlier this year. Busch kicked off his movie-inspired antics, though, at Talladega in 2012, when he raced El Diablo's ("It's like... Spanish for like a fighting chicken") "Me" car complete with a cougar on the hood. He even went so far as to channel the lovable idiot that is Ricky Bobby during the race, dropping a few catchphrases about macchiatos and slingshots.

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
