1961 Corvette Roman red with white coves and black interior. This Corvette is good cosmetic and mechanical
condition. This is a non-matching numbers Corvette, 4 speed and appears to be a real Roman red car. I was told
when I purchased it about 6 years ago that it has a 1969 Camaro 327. The paint is presentable (NOT show quality)
and does have some minor scratches and cracking in some areas. From 5 feet away, it looks great.
The white top is intact and fits nice with a small tear just from being in the down position. When I took the
pictures, I hadn’t had the top up for about 5 years – hence the wrinkles. There is no rush on the frame
(appears to have been well rust proofed when new). Appears to have been be repainted once.
The only problem, which does not affect the driving or handling is that the heater box was/is removed and the
immediate area around the passenger hood latch was re-glassed and done poorly (see pictures). It does not affect
the outside appearance (hood area or cowl or the working of the hood latch. I know the person who had the car
before me and it was done over 20 years ago). I have the heater core parts – they go with the car.
The Carburetor was totally professionally rebuilt, rear end had been rebuilt (likely to change gears to a lower
ratio (believe they are 352 gears)) for cruising, the clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing were replaced
and the radiator was completely disassembled and re-cored.
I have had a number of Corvettes from the years 1954 to C3’s – most NCRS Top Flight quality cars. I brought
this car to enjoy as a driver. I live in NJ and wouldn’t hesitate to get in the car and drive 1K miles. It is
very reliable and starts immediately. I take the car to Corvette Carlisle with no problems (350 miles). The car
has radial tires on it to improve handling.
I am only selling the car because I will be moving in a year and have other collector cars and motor cycles. The
cost of moving the herd any distance gets expensive. If I don’t sell it, it’s not a big deal to me.
I took 170 picture and will be glad to send you whatever angle or view you would like. If you are in NJ, I would
encourage you to look at the car. I will make every effort to be available.

GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.

"Turbo" Chevrolet Camaro is a 700-HP fantasy car come to life [w/video]

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

For a concept car built to promote an animated movie about a snail that wants to go racing, this thing ain't half bad. The outsized monster you see before you started life as a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and then went through a big-time Hollywood makeover before being positioned on the Chevrolet stand here in Chicago.
This 2013 "Turbo" Camaro Coupe is getting the promotion machine ratcheted up for a new DreamWorks tale by the name of, you guessed it, Turbo. Coming this summer, the movie will follow one snail's quest to become a race driver worthy of making the cut at the Indy 500. Like many DreamWorks vehicles before it, we're guessing that the petrolhead snail will star in a movie that adults (especially racing fans) with have no trouble watching with their kids. Check out the trailer below to see if you agree.
As for the car, we're told that it is "instrumental" in transforming Turbo from snail into racer. Helping the beastly pony car in this mighty task, is an ankle-cracking front splitter matched by a ungodly huge rear wing out back, a COPO hood and a supercharged (yes, supercharged) V8 engine making more than 700 horsepower. 24-inch wheels all the way around - 10-inches wide in front and 15-inches wide in back - should allow the "Turbo" Camaro to hook up with ease, as well.

2014 Chevrolet C7 Corvette wastes no time zooming into Jay Leno's Garage

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Where else would you expect the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to show up first? Although this time it isn't exactly in Jay Leno's Garage, Leno instead playing an away game at Brown's Classic Auto in Scottsdale, Arizona. Nor does Leno drive the car, instead taking an 11-minute walkaround of the new American sports car with General Motors design head Ed Welburn, the same man who recently brought by a string of classic Corvettes to the talk show host's California compound.
It is, admittedly, a love-fest for the American sports car now featuring 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, but one that also features admissions about previous Corvette seats like "they were kinda rough," and the explanation that labeling the coupe "Stingray" means not having to call it "the base Corvette." On top of that, Welburn also explains the proper application of the term "dashboard." You can watch it all in the video below.
