WHEN I LISTED THIS CAR AND SEEN THE CAR FAX I ALMOST FELL OFF MY CHAIR. IT SAID THIS CAR HAD FRONT END DAMAGE IN 1991. I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA. . I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 1996 FROM MY BROTHER WHO WAS THE 2ND OWNER. THE FIRST SELLER DID NOT DISCLOSE THIS INFORMATION TO HIM. I'M STILL IN SHOCK. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE DAMAGE WAS BUT IT WAS REPAIRED TO PERFECTION, THE CAR LOOKS AND RUNS BEAUTIFULLY. IT HAS NEVER SEEN SNOW AND HAS BEEN COVERED AND GARAGED FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN JUNE AND HAD IT SERVICED SO I COULD PUT IT BACK ON THE ROAD (It was completely gone over and the repair bill was $8000, I have the receipts) IT HAD ONLY 24,000 MILES ON IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT FROM MY BROTHER IN 1996 SO I ONLY PUT 4,000 MILES ON IT IN 17 YEARS. THE LOUVERS WERE FACTORY INSTALLED AND MAKES THE CAR LOOK SPECTACULAR. IF YOU WANT A PAMPERED RED 89 CORVETTE WITH LOW MILAGE THAT THAT WAS OWNED BY A SENIOR LADY AND WILL TURN ALL HEADS, THIS IS THE CAR YOU WANT. PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS OR REQUEST MORE PICTURES. Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile
Mon, 18 Nov 2013The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.

For those of you still with us, the first race in the United SportsCar Championship (USCC) is done, but the discussions about it certainly won't end for a while. Daytona Prototypes claimed the first four overall places, the top spot taken by the No. 5 Action Express Coyote-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi, Sebastien Bourdain and Burt Friselle. The 16th and final caution of the race bunched the field up for an eight-minute sprint to the flag, so the first place getter finished just 1.4 seconds ahead of the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Max Angelelli. Third place went to Brian Friselle in the No. 9 Action Express Chevrolet Corvette DP, 20 seconds down. Chevrolet power hasn't taken the overall win since 2003, eleven years later it scores a one-two-three-four. The No. 6 Muscle Milk/Pickett Racing ORECA-Nissan 03 scored fifth place, the top LMP2 finisher.
The Prototype Challenge class win went to the No. 54 CORE Autosport team of Colin Braun, Jon Bennett, Mark Wilkins and James Gue.
Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car
Wed, 20 Feb 2013We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above.
