Beautiful rare 1959 Chevrolet El camino here, ive been working on this car for 2-3 years and it is nice, walnut blasted entire car, original color of car was a red from state of colorado, it has been completely disassembled and painted Jams and etc.....clean title in hand and she is a beautiful car, this car is my pride and joy though not perfect she is definatly beautiful, the only problem i have had with car was the brake light switch, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't and i have replaced the switch so bad ground or something but my next step was to rewire the car, thou everything does work and car runs and drives great, wipers do work but i have never had any on car, shes super straight and she is a great driver as well, 3 on tree and she just gets down the road sounds mean with with the new dual exaust with stainless smittys that dump right in front of the rear tire. Sitting or running tempature never goes above 190*, Rebuilt eldebrock carb few months back and has a eldebrock intake as well... New floor pans, new qtrs, new window felt, new door rubbers, New windshield and rear glass rubbers from el camino store i believe. New interior, new clips for all trim, and got a few new parts that if i dont install before the auction ends will come with car, like little qtr glass in doors I have new set but door glass has a couple small cracks in corners as well. Also have another set of trim for car but not in great shape but could be fixed and run on a driver for sure....New headliner not installed but comes with and have the original visors for car as well with enough material for it bows are in car, front and rear glass is nice but original, has after market guages that work as well as the original works as well...new tires on factory wheels painted gloss black, new trim rings, new spider caps, new lugnuts with bullet ends, new steel skirts, new carpet and juke pad, new wheel cylinders and shoes, new brake lines, and all new brake hardware, new wheel bearings in front, I didnt fill the holes that the paint dividers go in because i was looking for them, but most people fill, I didnt want to do that, I like to do things the easy way and get her done, if you have negative feedback or zero please contact me prior to bidding because I will block your bid, because i dont have time or money to be wasting with lookey loos or time wasters or spammers. Daughter starts school this year so selling to fund a surprise vacation. Lights work good but i was planning to get new wire harness in whole car eventually but things change, I got a lot of money in this car and its done right. A head turner is not the word for this car, its a neck breaker....Ill try to get more photos if need be. please call if there is any questions 720-621-3000 jay i have this car listed locally as well. I reserve the right to end this auction at anytime as i have car for sale locally as well. Lowered with 3in front springs and shocks and 4in rear springs and shocks from mcguaghtys i believe. Motor runs excellent has a fresh tune up for new buyer, ill store car at my home until pickup can be arranged and will sell worldwide. Buyer is responsible for shipping and/or pickup the pickup. NO RESERVE....if u care to make offer please do so call me anytime with questions...This is easy as there is no reserve on auction if you BID you win thanks Jay also has the original 1959 license plates that are registered to the car from colorado, if buyer wants them i can include them. I will incourage anyone to come see the car and lets go for a ride. One of the nicest around for sure....My dream car with all the hard work done but work has been slow and kids come first....Whomever wins/gets the car is gonna be so happy very nice cruiser...happy bidding and if there any questions dont hesitate to call or email thanks jay. Chevy to show redesigned Captiva in Geneva, will it come to US rental lots?
Wed, 27 Feb 2013Unless you're renting a car or driving through Orlando, Florida (the rental car capital of the US), you'll probably never see a Chevrolet Captiva - the rebadged, fleet-only version of the old Saturn Vue - on our roads, but this crossover is popular in many other parts of the world. As such, Chevrolet announced that the Captiva will be getting an update for 2013, which will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
Coming off a pretty extensive refresh in 2011, the 2013 model year will bring even more changes to the Captiva like LED taillights, new 18-inch wheels and revised fascias with a new grille and fog lights up front and inset chrome exhaust outlets at the rear. New interior features include heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control as well as available options on some of the upper trim levels such as leather seating and keyless entry and start. We have yet to hear back from Chevrolet as to whether or not the updated Captiva will be making its way to a rental lot near you, as the model is only available in the US to fleet buyers.
Alongside the updated Captiva, Chevy is also showing off its new Trax in Europe, where the subcompact crossover will go on sale this spring. GM's press release for these two Geneva-bound models is posted below.
Callaway debuts its new C7 Stingray at National Corvette Museum
Fri, 02 May 2014Callaway showed off its first tuned version of the 2014 Corvette Stingray at the National Corvette Museum last week, giving the rampant enthusiasts of America's sports car a look at the roughly 620-horsepower, supercharged rocket.
Unlike the Corvette SC610 we showed you back in January, this Stingray packs a fair bit more oomph. Horsepower is only up ten ponies, but torque has jumped from 556 pound-feet to "at least" 600 pound-feet. Neither horsepower nor torque is official quite yet, although Callaway is expecting to know just what its creation can do once testing and validation is completed later this month.
The 6.2-liter, supercharged V8 now boasts a new, three-element intercooler, which Callaway claims only allowed the inlet air temperature to increase by ten degrees Fahrenheit during dyno runs. Previous designs saw a 35-degree-Fahrenheit jump. The exhaust system has also been fettled with, and now is even less restrictive.
Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.
