1969 Chevrolet El Camino for restoration. Car was originally dover white with a black bench seat interior. It now has bucket seats.
The Good
Car runs drives and stops. I have moved it around in my driveway but have not driven the car on the road because the tires are in poor shape.
350 engine runs well, starts right up and does not smoke. Looks clean inside by looking thru the oil fill cap. Oil was just changed. Could use a little tune up and adjusting to run perfect as it was sitting for a while. Has HEI distributor and quadrajet 4 barrel carb. No exhaust, open headers. Has the big radiator in it and the belts and hoses are in good shape. Power steering works very well.
350 block is an 010 casting
Power Drum Brakes
350 Turbo Trans engages reverse and drive fine. Fluid looks clean.
10 Bolt rear end, I do not know what gears or if it is a posi or not. It does have new rear upper control arms and new rear boxed lower control arms.
New fuel tank installed.
SS hood in good shape
Roof panels are solid
Bucket seats
All glass is good with the exception of the windshield
Front steel inner fenders in good shape.
The Bad
I tried to take photos of the rusted areas as best as I could. The car will need both quarters, floor pans, drivers rocker patched, drivers door patched, rear outer wheel houses, inner rear wheel houses may be able to be patched, drivers front fender patched, passenger fender patched or replaced, small area on cowl by body tag has a few pin holes, bed floor patched, front frame patched at steering box and idler arm area.
Brake work in the drive way but will need gone over before driving on the road.
The car does come with a new passenger quarter and passenger quarter patch panel. I have the original passenger door that has good glass and regulators in it. The passenger door on the car is pretty solid.
Drivers door opens and closes fine on both sides, passenger door opens fine from the inside, does not open from the outside. It does rub the front fender when opening and needs adjusted.
The car would be a great project to restore or turn into a rat rod with some work. Car will be sold as is with no warranties and has been described to the best of my knowledge. Please ask all questions prior to bidding. Please call to make an appointment to view the car prior to bidding. Please ask for more pictures of certain areas prior to bidding. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.

2014 Chevrolet Malibu gets more torque, more room and inspiration from the Impala
Fri, 31 May 2013The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, having stared at the Impala across the showroom floor for a year, gets nips and tucks all over inspired by its larger brother. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the base car will get a stop-start system and 23 city miles per gallon, 35 highway, each number representing a one-mpg improvement over the 2013 car. Output is 196 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque.
Opt for the 2.0-liter turbo and, while power holds steady at 259 hp, torque goes up by 14 percent to a striking 295 lb-ft (a figure Chevy calls best in the class). The final details include newly programmed transmission shift points and faster shifts, for better engaging and enjoying the added power.
Looks-wise, the grille's been reshaped to be more in line with the new Chevrolet look, a narrower upper grille hovering over a larger lower grille.
Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards
Fri, 22 Feb 2013The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.

Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction
Sun, 17 Feb 2013It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
