Please note: This was made to be a radical one of a kind car. It has no top. It has no windows, but the look and
the attention it gets is second to none! Who would want to drive one of these with the top up anyhow? This started
its life as a bubbletop 59 Impala, but I wanted to be different, so here it is!
Body:
Blasted and painted with Dupont Cameo Coral and light flake--looks almost a tint of pink in the sunlight, and a
darker red out of the sun----between the trim on the side and on the dash and interior are a combination of the
cameo and silver light flake.Under side and trunk were lizard skinned.
New trunk pans and floor pans. All dynamat on floors. New gas tank. There is teak wood that is polyureathaned that
fits perfectly where the windows would have been to give a nice clean look. California one piece front bumper. all
trim and brightwork are excellent for the age of the car. Custom one piece front valance that wraps around. Dual
antennas on rear fins.
Engine:
355 Chevy race motor-built for the track
500 lift cam
Diamond Pistons
Brodix racing heads
Edelbrock Victor bowtie Intake
Custom fabricated Sceptre air intake
Dual electric fans
Power steering
March serpentine belt system
Power disc brakes
Magnaflow with headers
Custom exhaust vent style coming out before rear wheels.
This motor is earth shattering!
Transmission:
2 speed powerglide
Lokar floorshifter with lockout
Both engine and trans have 2,026 miles on them---reset odometer when rebuilt
Rims and tires:
Billet Specialties 17x8 front, 20x10 rear
Wrapped in Summitomo 225 45 18, 225 45 20
Full airride suspension via air ride system--compressor with gauge mounted in trunk
switches are mounted with the stock power window switches on driver side.
Went with one inch lines instead of 1/2, so it goes up and down quick. People love it!
Has all gauges--after market for oil pressure, temperature(never runs above 180).
working gas gauge, and stock speedometer. It has a tack mounted on steering column but never hooked it up.
Stereo:
Kenwood head unit/with remote/bluetooth and hands free---all memphis audio 6 1/2's in doors and rear with a 10" sub
and memphis audio amp mounted behind back seat---custom made speaker enclosures in front doors from classic rear
well fenders covers.
Trunk has been carpeted and finished to complete the uniform and neat look.
The trunk and hood operate on seperate switches mounted under the dash that go up with accuators. both fit
perfectly. Nothing cooler than pulling up and using the switches and mouths drop to the floor!
Has door poppers on both sides custom located on inside.
I know I may have forgotten some things but feel free to reach out!

GM recalling 118K Colorado, Canyon pickups over missing hood latches

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

General Motors has announced a recall of 118,800 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks due to the possibility of secondary hood latches not being installed at the time of manufacture. The affected vehicles are from the 2010, 2011 and 2012 model years, all of which were built between November 9, 2009 and August 28, 2012.
According to the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, these trucks fail to "comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 113, 'Hood Latch System.' The hood may be missing the secondary hood latch." In other words, owners of these trucks could find their vehicles' hoods opening unexpectedly while driving.
The official recall campaign is expected to begin on January 17, 2013. Dealers will inspect the affected pickups and if a secondary hood latch is not present, one will be installed free of charge. Scroll down to read the official NHTSA report.

Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.
