This car has had much restoration work done, and it's just about finished. The car was completely dis-assembled. The body was taken off the frame, the frame was blasted and painted, and all new control arm bushings and ball joints installed. The entire body was also blasted and etch primed, then put back on the frame and all rusty metal was cut out and much new metal welded in, including floor pans, trunk pans, quarter section, trunk extensions, rear trunk area and more. The quality of the metal work is very good. When all the metal work was completed the car was sent out for finish body work and paint, and it came out real nice. The color of the car is a Ford color, paint code E4, "Vermillion Red". If you go to a Ford dealer on a bright sunny day and ask to see this color, I think you will agree it is the perfect red for this vintage car.

Once the paint was done, it was returned to me for re-assembly, and I have just about finished.  As you can imagine, this car has had more work done and new or reconditioned parts installed than I could remember to list here, so please feel free to contact me if you have questions.

It has a new red and white hounds tooth interior that includes new seat covers, door panels, armrest bases, carpet, headliner, etc.  The original 283 V-8 motor and the cast iron powerglide automatic transmission were rebuilt prior to me owning the car, and they run flawlessly. The Rochester 4 barrel carb with electric choke is a nice touch. It has an aluminum radiator. Presently there is an alternator in the car, but if the new owner chooses, I will convert it back to stock with a nice generator and a brand new voltage regulator that I have and are ready to go. It has all new brake components from the dual line master cylinder to the wheel cylinders, and silicone brake fluid was used to prevent corrosion over long periods. New stock single exhaust. The power steering system was rebuilt and works perfectly. Basically, everything in this car works, right down to the windshield washers. I replaced the clock with a voltage meter.

The car is not perfect, it has some trim pieces that could be replaced or restored, I did the best I could with what I could find here on ebay.  Also there is some new weatherstripping that has yet to be installed, but will come with the car. This car is very, very nice, and needs nothing that would prevent you from driving and enjoying it right now. I would easily put this car up against any other 1960 Impala 2 door hardtop for the money.  I can answer any questions you may have by telephone (before 8PM eastern please)          (413)-539-9769,    ask for Dave...and I encourage anyone who is interested to come and see the car.

Man surprises girlfriend with C7 Corvette

Mon, 07 Oct 2013

How would you react if someone just showed up at your place of work with a new, 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, complete with all the trimmings? While a lot of us would likely be flipping out over the still rare sports car, it's a fair bet many more of us would be responding like Pattie here, whose boyfriend stopped by her work to show her her new C7.
Speechless and shocked as she seems, she does end up taking it out for a drive, despite claiming she wasn't really outfitted to handle the car's seven-speed manual transmission at the time. From the sound of the video, we got the impression that she knew the car was coming, just not that it was anywhere near ready for delivery. It also, as Pattie says, seems like her boyfriend is more excited about the car than she (which, can we blame him?). Take a look down below for the full video of this C7 Stingray delivery.

These cars are headed to the Great Crusher In The Sky

Fri, 24 Aug 2012

It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).
Check out our gallery of discontinued cars above, then scroll down for more information.

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.
