 Up for your consideration;
1963 Chevrolet Impala SS 327 all Original Engine with 4 Speed Manual. Double camel hump head.
We have been driving this all summer and have put about 800 miles on it since we took it in, runs great, sounds awesome, (flow-max muffler system), lights work, interior very good. "This car has drawn more attention than any car we have had in our inventory. Thumbs up and shout outs everywhere we drive it, even from the police who seem to not care that we have no seatbelts in the car or that its rumbling loud exhaust is likely too loud."
"Our last trip was a week ago to the sand dunes beach on Lake Michigan 160 mile round trip, and people flocked around it all day."

Car is not perfect though and has the following issues:
Speedo/odo don't work, wiper switch is missing, the wiring is behind the open hole but we did not check it out, the dash has some cracks and trim was riveted in in places, (see pics), no horn, clock don't work, gas gauge don't work, aftermarket radio don't work but we have the original radio that will come with this car, no dash or interior lights, just a lonely little brake light is on at night that stays on all the time, radiator overflow tank missing, (plastic jug in its place). The rust areas shown in pics underneath are on the drivers side. When going over big dips in the road, there is a metal to metal rub sound like the shocks or muffler rubbing together, we don't know what it is, but it don't effect the ride.

We also are including all four original hubcaps with the car. Cloth car cover included. Comes with clear Michigan title.
Please see all the pics for condition.

Note: "We specialize in seeking out and finding rare classic cars in very good to excellent condition. This is a premium example of one of our finds! This was owned by a local career military man who used this for several summers in the Traverse Michigan area and took extreme care and attention to keeping it in the good condition shown here."

"We personally put over 800 miles on it so we can present any issues to our potential customers with full transparency!"

The car starts and runs great, with no smoke, no engine knocks, or slipping in the clutch, no overheating. Some oil wetness under car around the pumpkin area appears to be traveling backwards from a rear engine seal leak, but very light as it does not create oil smell and burning oil smoke even during long trips .

We urge potential buyers to "bid accordingly with the minor issues we described in mind, in as is condition".

$200 deposit is required within 24 hours of auction close using PayPal and the balance is due within 1 week of auction close by cash/check/money order.

We do not accept large balances by PayPal!

You will be able to take possession of the car when all funds clear our bank.

We will work directly with your shipper and extend this auction worldwide to any and all eBay members in good standing!

You may leave the car here up to 4 weeks free of charge at our facility while you make arrangements for pickup, but the car must be paid in full within 1 week of auction close. If you chose to, we are confident the car is running good enough to make any trip from here to any state in the lower 48.

Car is sold as is, as described to the best of our ability with lots of pics and is sold as is with no warranties implied whatsoever.

"As you bid, please be sure you are comfortable with the bid price so that the sale will transition smoothly for all parties involved."

Anyone may inspect the car this week during the auction and we invite questions during the entire run of the auction.

If not satisfied with our present description or have reservations about condition, it is best to ask specific questions, or see the car personally in advance for yourself.

"Good luck in advance to the winner of this desirable classic."

Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.

Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
