 1984 Monte Carlo - Landau.

My sons first car, hate to sell its been a fun father and son project.

Based on meeting the original owners Son, the condition of the car, we are confident that the mileage is correct at 76,724. We purchased it with approx. 49,000 on the odometer.

Overall good condition, not a rot box at all, solid body, frame etc.

Exterior paint is older - a few recent repaints on some panels.

Interior - shows signs of wear, new headliner and visors installed. But could use seat covers and a dash cap.

Short block  - we removed the orig 305 and installed a very nice 350 4 bolt main block, bored .30 over, Speed Pro pistons, new rings, bearings - the bottom of the block was built by dad (have built quite a few motors), clearances were well in tolerances for both mains, rods, end play, ring gap and piston wall clearance.

Top end - Heads from Motor Crate Engines in Portland Oregon - Thick wall guides, hardened seats for unleaded fuel, HD valve springs, 2.20 intake stainless swirl valves, 1.60 exhaust stainless swirl valves, Pocket Ported, 64cc combustion chamber. Cam is a Lunati VooDo .468/.489, 219/227 duration. Manifold is a Edlebrock performer with a 550 CFM Carter. Hooker Headers to 2 1/2 inch exhaust through 40 series Flowmaster mufflers. There are no cats on the exhaust.

Compression based on above is about 9.5.1 - so must use Premium Fuel., Estimated HP I would guess between 375 and 400. Not sure of the torque.

Have receipts for all work we did and parts purchased.

Car runs great, fun to drive, BF Goodrich radials on 1986 Monte SS restored rims.

Car has a Clraion DXZ845 stereo

Car comes with a bunch of extra parts - interior etc. The A/C was not working when we got the car, we do however have all the parts and brackets to go back in if the new owner decides to get it working.

Also have a 1986 Monte Carlo SS rear with 3:73 - posi to go with it, this rear would compliment the motor greatly, we were going to put it in with a 700r4, great combo (I do not have the 700r4, only the rear)

Contact me to see the car, it could still use a few new items but a great fun Father and Son car.

Thanks for looking.

Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...

GM execs fired over fraudulent India emissions testing

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

General Motors hadn't had a recall in India since 1995. That changed when it was discovered that certain employees were playing tricks with local emissions testing in order to ensure passing grades for engines. More than ten GM Powertrain employees in India and the US have been let go over the ensuing emissions flap, including Sam Winegarden, VP of global engine engineering, a man who has been with the company since 1969, leading development of some marquee powerplants.
According to Automotive News, an internal investigation revealed that employees "violated testing procedures," sometimes swapping specially prepared low-emissions engines during testing regimes for the Chevrolet Tavera SUV equipped with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter engines. Employees were also manipulating weights in order to get vehicles placed into different emissions categories. The discovery has led to GM recall the 114,000 Taveras produced over an eight-year period and halting their production and sale.
The Economic Times of India reports that the issue is due to "a faulty component." GM has developed a solution to the issue, and once it is validated in testing and approved by the Indian authorities, the recalled vehicles will be fixed at dealers and production will resume.

Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.
