1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Ls Coupe 2-door 3.1l on 2040-cars
Avon Lake, Ohio, United States
I bought this Monte Carlo from a dealer last summer with 44 000 original miles in it. The story of this car is that it had two owners before me and they drove this car probably only for fun and kept it in a very good condition because the car looks like brand new. Since then, I have put another 20 000 miles (mostly highway miles) in it without having any problem at all.
I put new tires and brakes all around last year. i have been changing engine oil after every 3000 miles and keeping, treating and driving this car like a baby. I have just put brand new shocks, coil springs and mounts on both rear sides. The AC does not work but it is fixable. I never got to the point to get it fixed. Everything works perfect on this car. No engine lights or any other lights on! Fully loaded and automatic. No leaks at all. The car rides and drives beautifully with no rattles
or shakes, and straight as well. I had an accident with this car last year when somebody cut in front of me and it was impossible to stop and I hit the other car on her side. It was absolutely the other driver's fault as the police report shows as well. The front passanger side of Monte Carlo got damaged a litle bit and the airbag deploid but everything got fixed and restored perfectly by a professional body shop paid fully by the insurance company. Only body damage happend and. Nothing else. No damage to the frame, or chassie or anything else. Thre impact was like 15-20 miles per hour impact. About the rear driver side end. Unfortunately, I span out and hit a rail on the snowy, icy highway last winter and the end of car got damaged as you can see on the pictures. I was gonna take it to a body shop but something always came up and I had to spend the money on something else. The impact did not do any damage that would effect how the car drives or runs. It runs straight and perfect. It is only body damage and needs a little lovin' and maybe a little body work at a body shop. I am selling the car cause I need some extra cash to move. If you have any question, or wanna see more pics then let me know and I will send you all. |

2014 Chevrolet SS makes its live debut
Sat, 16 Feb 2013Chevrolet showed off the new 2014 SS in an airport hangar last night, its first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan in the US since the Impala SS from 1997. We'll have more to say about the SS later today, but this is the sedan that Chevrolet sees as the final piece in restoring its performance credentials. For those of you looking for a manual transmission, however, that wish will go unfulfilled - at least for now: the only two options buyers will have are the color and whether or not they want a sunroof.
We'll work on getting some more angles (in better light) today at Daytona International Speedway, but with fans seeing the car for the first time, we don't hold out much luck of getting a clear shot. So for now, enjoy the high-res gallery above.
Why Cadillac thinks it needs to succeed in Europe to sell cars elsewhere
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Ward's Auto has taken an interesting look at the renewed focus General Motors is showing towards Cadillac in Europe. Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe (pictured), says in order for the luxury brand to thrive in China, it first needs to succeed in the old country. The reason? Chinese buyers look to Europe for cues as to what's deemed worthy of the term "luxury." There are hurdles to the plan, however. In addition to the fact that the EU is flooded with high-end nameplates, GM doesn't necessarily have the distribution network in place to put buyers behind the wheel.
Combine that with persistent economic woes and Cadillac's checkered past marred by a lack of diesel engine options and a bankrupt distributor, and the road ahead for the brand looks like less of an uphill climb and more like a straight-up cliff face. But Docherty is optimistic and says she has a plan for the brand. We recommend heading over to Ward's for a closer look at the full read.
More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1
Thu, 28 Feb 2013During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.
