1956 Chevrolet Other Pickups on 2040-cars
Salem, Florida, United States
1956 Chevy 3200 long bed with LS engine
Custom made truck, I built this truck & I used a 04 Colorado frame with the stock suspension. I installed LM7 5.3
engine with 4L60E transmission. It came out from a wrecked 06 Avalanche with 94k miles. PCM & Stand-alone harness
conversion installed. It also has a new water pump, radiator, injectors, coils & etc.
New windshield, windows & all seals install. I used a Kwik Wire 14 Circuit Wire Harness kit & put a Tilt column
with an intellitronix Digital dash. I fabricated custom piston motorcycle tail lights. Truck rides on 22x9 steel
wheels on 265/30 tires. I hide the PCM & fuse box under dash & I custom made inner-fenders, firewall and engine
cover to make the engine bay super clean. Interior has beautiful black and grey seats and panels with seatbelts.
For exterior I was going to go with patina and after a little prep & first coat everyone convinced me to leave as
is so I just added a flat coat. I wanted to drive it daily & enjoy it; I didn’t want to spend 7k on professional
paint job so I left it as is.
I drive the truck every day & I’ve already put 2500 miles with no issues at all. This is a super fun truck and
you get a lot of attention. If you are a shy person this is not for you! I will continue to use the truck until I
sell it. The only reason why I’m selling is because I have too many projects going on.
To have a completely show truck it needs A/C, radio, and windshield wipers motor (Linkage is there). Professional
paint and air ride suspension.

Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
GM sweetens military discount for Buick, Chevy and GMC
Sun, 06 Oct 2013American servicemen and women interested in a new vehicle from Chevrolet, Buick or GMC now have a bit more incentive to head down to their local dealer, as General Motors has announced plans to improve its military discount program.
The new GM Military Discount Program offers eligible consumers a new Chevy, Buick or GMC at invoice pricing, which in some cases can take very large chunks out of a car's retail price. When factored in with other incentives, most of which are available with the Military Discount, the bargains are thick on the ground for members of the US armed forces.
GM's Retail Sales and Marketing Support general manager, Chuck Thomson, said, "GM has long supported the military and military families, and we hope this simplified and enhanced discount will show our appreciation for their service and help make it easier for them to own one of our great new vehicles." The program is open to all active duty and reserve members in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard and Coast Guard, as well as veterans that have been out of the service for less than a year. Military retirees and their spouses are also eligible for the discount.
GM dealers unhappy about pickup prices
Mon, 21 Oct 2013The backlash is beginning. Following General Motors' price hike of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra last week, dealers across the country are expressing their ire over increasing prices in the face of rebates and discounts on trucks from Ford and Ram.
Speaking to Automotive News, Sam Pilato, the general manager at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater, FL, Silverados are "selling very poorly." W. Carrol Smith, the president of Monument Chevrolet in the heart of truck country, Texas, said, "[GM's] position is that the vehicle stands on its own and it doesn't need a bigger rebate. That's not what the market is telling us."
According to AN, that's the general attitude amongst Chevy and GMC dealers across the country, where the twin pickups are getting butchered in sales by competitors offering up to $9,000 off their sticker prices. Part of the problem for GM is that its trucks are arriving on the market near the end of the current F-150's lifecycle, a fact that Ford has taken advantage of.
