Red 1985 Chevy Silverado K10 4wd 4x4 Short Bed Very Nice on 2040-cars

This is a beautiful 1985 I bought it in early 2011 from the previous owner who had it for 15 years.  The Autocheck report shows this as a 2 owner, however this is not accurate, as the previous owner did not buy it new.  It had a Goodwrench 350 and Edelbrock carb already installed when I got it. It's had a partial restoration since I've owned it, it's been painted, color sanded and buffed, and had many new parts installed, including both fuel tanks and sending units, fuel selector valve and switch, Edelbrock Performer EPS intake,  master cylinder, brake booster, heater core, blower motor, billet grill, driver's side window motor, new door/window seals, new rear glass and seal, headliner, dash cap, door hinge pins and bushings and many other miscellaneous parts.  I added the BF Goodrich MTs and Mickey Thompson wheels.  I do have the original factory rally wheels, original bench seat (needs work), and the original Silverado fender trim.  The truck has never been lifted, and the steering and suspension is all very tight.  I was in the processing of changing the interior to black, and it still needs carpet and a seat cover (the later model bench seat is in decent condition, but has some stains and a tear in the driver's side that has been sewn up).  The lumbar support in the seats is connected and functional. I was also planning to do a spray-in bedliner.  As you can see in the pictures, the inside of the bed is very straight and rust free, this truck has mainly been used as a driver and not abused.

The issues that I'm aware of are: the cruise control does not work, the a/c works and still has R12 refrigerant in it, but the compressor is a little noisy.  There are a couple places in the paint where there is some slight color variance, and I believe this is due to a different color primer being used in these areas.  It doesn't show in the pictures, and I didn't see this for several days after I got it back from being painted, however I wanted to point it out.  There are also a lot of rock chips on the rocker panels that have been touched up, you can see this in one of the pictures.  The passenger side window motor is getting weak and will need to be replaced.

Watch the live reveal of the 2014 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra [UPDATE]

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

UPDATE: The trucks have been revealed. Click here for all of the official details.
As promised, Chevrolet and GMC are offering a live webcast of the world premiere for the all-new 2014 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500. After being teased with spy shots and blurry images like the one above for ages, now is the time to see the trucks in the metal, for real (well, as 'real' as it gets on a webcast, at any rate).
Shift your eyes down just below to see the reveal as it happens, starting at 9:30 AM EST. We anticipate having loads of images full technical information to share after the webcast, too, so truck aficionados should stay tuned. We'll also be bringing you live images of both trucks too, when we see them on the show floor at next month's Detroit Auto Show.

New Bright creating exclusive 1:8 scale radio-controlled C7 Corvette

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

If you want a new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette but can't quite save up enough pennies for the monthly payment, we have good news for you. Toymaker New Bright has pulled the covers off of its 1:8 scale remote-controlled version of the American sports car. Complete with a very detailed interior and LED headlights, this large-scale R/C is as close as most of us will ever come to having one of the menacing Chevrolet models to call our very own. New Bright still hasn't released pricing or availability, but word has it the coupe should hit the market soon.
Right now, it appears as if the C7 will hit shelves in Torch Red, though we don't know if other colors are planned as well. The good news is that New Bright isn't exactly turning its back on the old C6 - representatives say the company will continue to make its popular C6R racecar for those who prefer round taillights.

800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.
