Up for bids is a 1984 Chevrolet s10 4x4 Blazer with the small block 350 conversion installed.  The only original part of the exterior is the roof.  All new GM sheetmetal including: fenders, inner fenders, doors, quarters, inner quarters, gate, fiberglass cowl hood.  The body was finished in a Viper silver metallic.  The stripes are painted under the clear and include 21 different color pearls. It took over 35 man hours just to tape the stripes, they are completely smooth to the touch. Inside the vehicle the seats were completely reupholstered, new carpet, headliner, visors, door carpet, rubber gaskets, cd radio with punch amp, dash speakers, rear seat 6x9 speakers, and two 12inch punch subs all from Rockford Fosgate, sound is crystal clear. The engine is a smallblock 350 crate engine matted to a 4speed overdrive r700. Hooker super competition headers into  magnaflow exhaust. The motor has just 2690 miles on it, barely broke in.  The air conditioning system has been converted over to r134 and includes new condenser and compressor.  New brakes all around including proportion valve, wheel cylinders, springs and all pads. All aluminum 3core radiator with dual electric fans keep things cool. Three inch body lift with all new front suspension including center link, idler arm, ball joints, sway bar, sway bar bushings, steering box, axles and boots and  power steering pump.  The front and rear were fitted with 4.10 gears and yes the 4wheel drive works. Tires are good with black mirror powdercoated wheels. New speedometer and cable installed when build was finished. Build was completed a few years ago and vehicle has been in garage waiting for son to turn sixteen.  Son turned sixteen and wanted Mitsubishi eclipse, dad is p*ssed!  Any way, if I sat down and added up all the money thrown into this thing, it would definitely top the $20,000 dollar mark, probably closer to $25,000.  Have my own body shop and don't really want to sell this thing, wife is nagging bout all the money invested and son not wanting it so I figured put a listing out there and see what happens.  Any questions, please feel to call Dave.  Day #724-550-4103.  Evening# 724-562-5783

GM profits threatened by glut of pickups

Wed, 05 Dec 2012

Automotive News reports that General Motors may slash production or ramp up discounts in order to deal with an oversupply of pickup trucks. GM currently has more than double the standard supply of pickups, and the vehicles are threatening to dampen the automaker's profits for 2013. Typically, automakers try to sustain a 60- to 75-day supply of vehicles, but GM is currently loaded with a 139-day supply, as of last month. At the end of November, the automaker was sitting on 245,853 units.
The manufacturer says that it will adjust production accordingly before laying any incentives on the profitable pickups. Even so, there's some concern that the inventory swell could hurt the roll-out of the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. GM actually began slowly stepping back production in August, but it's clear the company will take further action as it heads toward the end of the year and into the next. Analysts predict the automaker could reduce pickup manufacturing by nearly half in the first quarter of 2013.
That still may not be enough to keep GM from laying extra cash on the Silverado and GMC Sierra. While the company's incentive spending was down in November compared to the same month in 2011, both the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 saw double-digit percentage increases in sales last month while the Silverado and Sierra numbers slid compared to a year prior. Incentive spending could help move more trucks and add some balance to the GM inventory surge.

Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...
