For sale is my 2005 Chevrolet Silverado.  111,xxx miles.  Here are specifics on the truck:

5.3 V8

Auto

Cowl induction hood (steel, full understructure w/ factory hood pad)

GM Performance Parts cold air intake

Pro-Built Automatics/TransGo shift kit w/ Corvette servo

Blackbear Performance Tune

Bilstein shocks (suspension otherwise stock)

Flowmaster stainless steel cat-back exhaust, 50 series muffler

XenonDepot high quality HID kit

Carriage Works billet grille

Painted bumper cap (stock for 05 was black textured)

Shaved tailgate cap

Debadged

LED taillights

Line-X bedliner

20% window tint

Custom charcoal headliner (stock is fuzzy tan)

Digital Dash Solutions modified instrument cluster with white face gauges and added trans temp gauge.

SoCal Diesel billet overhead gauge mount w/ Autometer fuel pressue and vacuum gauges

Billet shift lever, door lock knobs, headlight switch and A/C knobs.

New high quality thick pile carpet approx 2 years ago. Nothing happened, just the thin factory carpet started looking a little ragged from age and cleaning so I replaced it with something better.  Still spotless.

Weathertech floor liners

2 10" subs behind the seat.  The subs are blown and I am taking the amp but I will leave the box and wiring in place so if you want to add subs it will be plug and play. To be clear: AMP IS NOT INCLUDED.

Upgraded speakers in doors and pillars

The interior is as mint as it's going to get for a vehicle of this age and mileage.  I would give it an easy 9/10.  The exterior is overall in great shape.  The bad spots are as follows: a couple scratches on the tailgate, the truck used to have a bedliner so the top of the bedrails have some scuffing, the left rear corner of the bumper has a small dent in it, and last but not least I backed over a planter of some sort and it pushed the left side tail pipe into the bottom corner of the bed.  I pushed it back out the best I could.  From a sheetmetal stand point you can't see it unless you are right up on it, but there is a chunk of paint missing (see pics).  You can see from the pictures this is an extremely clean truck.  It has been well taken care of.  The couple things I have had to fix on it I used GM parts and I always used Mobil 1.

This would be a great truck as is or start from where I left off and make it a full out muscle truck!

Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.

GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
