YOU ARE LOOKING AT A 1985 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. IT IS A FOURWHEEL DRIVE WITH CARBURATED 350. AUTO MATIC TRANSMISSION 700R4. TRUCK DID SOME TIME SITTING OUTSIDE AND IT DID TAKE ITS TOLL ON THE EXTERIOR. PAINT IS FADED AND RUST SPOTS. FRAME IS VERY SOLID AND SO IS THE DRIVETRAIN. 4X4 WORKS GREAT AND LOCKS IN WITH EASE. AUTO LOCKING HUBS AND A LOCKING REAR DIFFERENTIAL. INTERIOR IS FAIRLY DECENT. DRIVERS SEAT IS ONLY ONE WITH TEARS IN THE MIDDLE. OTHER SEATS AND CARPET ARE IN GOOD SHAPE. DASH IS CRACKED UP FROM SITTING IN THE SUN AND THE HEAD LINER IS GONE. THE REAR WINDOWS WORK BUT THE FRONTS DO NOT. I AM TERRIBLE WITH WIRING BUT I BELIEVE IT HAS BAD WINDOW MOTORS IN THE FRONT BUT I COULD BE WRONG. THE ORIGINAL ENGINE HAD BLOWN UP SO I PUT ANOTHER 85 YEAR 350 IN IT THAT HAS AROUND 35,000 MILES ON IT. RUNS OUT VERY STRONG. ROCHESTER QUADRAJET CARB. SUBURBAN IS FAR FROM PERFECT BUT HAS A SOLID CHASSIS AND STRONG RUNNING DRIVETRAIN. 31X10.5015LT TIRES ON IT. 80% TREAD LEFT WITH LITTLE DRY ROT. MANY OTHER THINGS I HAVE REPLACED ON THIS TO GET HER BACK ON THE ROAD. FLUID UNDER TRUCK IN PICTURE IS ANTIFREEZE FROM OLD RADIATOR. NEW RADIATOR AND THERMOSTAT SINCE THEN. Mother's Day Suggestion No. 2,506
Thu, 02 May 2013With Mother's Day coming up, we're always looking for new gift ideas to celebrate the occasion, but hot laps around a track might not be the best suggestion for Darius Khashabi. In a video posted on YouTube, Khashabi straps his mom into the passenger seat of his C6 Corvette Z06 for some laps around Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon Raceway) at "60 percent" with comical results.
Now this isn't the first time Mama Khashabi has gotten seat time in her son's car around a track, as his YouTube page shows him pulling a similar stunt - with similar results - around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca last year. Why Cadillac thinks it needs to succeed in Europe to sell cars elsewhere
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Ward's Auto has taken an interesting look at the renewed focus General Motors is showing towards Cadillac in Europe. Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe (pictured), says in order for the luxury brand to thrive in China, it first needs to succeed in the old country. The reason? Chinese buyers look to Europe for cues as to what's deemed worthy of the term "luxury." There are hurdles to the plan, however. In addition to the fact that the EU is flooded with high-end nameplates, GM doesn't necessarily have the distribution network in place to put buyers behind the wheel.
Combine that with persistent economic woes and Cadillac's checkered past marred by a lack of diesel engine options and a bankrupt distributor, and the road ahead for the brand looks like less of an uphill climb and more like a straight-up cliff face. Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards
Tue, 27 Nov 2012Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
