Selling my 1996 Chevy Tahoe. This truck is in excellent condition for a 17 year old truck. It is has been well cared for and has not been abused in any way, as evidenced by the photos. I have never off-roaded this vehicle, and can see no evidence of the previous owner doing so either. The undercarriage is very clean. No rust on any panel or frame. I added the home-link and updated the rear view mirror to one that has compass and temp. At 154,000 miles I replaced the transmission with a new one that is still under an unlimited mileage warranty until the end of the year. I am not sure if the warranty transfers to the new owner, I will have to check with the builder. This truck has a clean 2 owner car fax. The engine starts every time and does not smoke at all. I have changed my oil religiously every 3,500 miles with Mobile-1 Full Synthetic motor oil durning my entire ownership. At 160,000 miles I gave the truck a complete tune-up including new plugs, wires, rotor cap/button, and coil. With the exception of the tranny replacement last year, this truck has been extremely reliable. When I purchased it, the A/C worked but did not blow very cold. I removed the manifold from the compressor, all of the associated hoses, and the evaporator/drier and replaced them with new items. I discovered a worn O-Ring on the original drier line. The A/C has blown cold for the past 2 years with no recharge of the system. Everything works on this truck. If you purchase it, I do not believe that you will be disappointed, as long as you realize that the truck is 17 years old and does show some wear. The paint is very good on most of the truck, the hood however has started to check. Still very shiny, just showing small cracks in the paint, common problem with these old chevys. Buyer will be responsible for pick-up and all associated shipping costs. Please email me with any questions concerning this car, selling because I've moved to Los Angeles and bought a convertible.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible is a Swiss hit
Mon, 04 Mar 2013We've just received an early peek at the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible here at the Geneva Motor Show. General Motors was kind enough to let us attend the final dress-rehearsal for its press conference scheduled for tomorrow's opening media day, and we've come away with a good look at the droptop C7 in person.
In the metal, the new Corvette Convertible seems somehow less avant-garde than the Coupe, even in Z51 Performance Package guise. That's not necessarily a bad thing - more of an observation. That initial impression may be because the C7's new greenhouse is one of its most prominent departures from Corvettes past. While we didn't get to see the top erected, there's no rear side window in the stock images that Chevy has already released, suggesting the C7 convertible's profile will look a lot like its C6 predecessor. And with the new power tonneau cover in place, there are also no rear ducts that come as part of the Z51 package (they've been moved under the car).
As with its predecessor, the tonneau is a handsome double-bubble piece, and the body-color "waterfall" element into the cabin between the seats has made it to the new model as well. Thus, the overall look with the top down should be a bit more familiar to prior-gen C6 owners - if you're one of those put off by the C7's new shape, you'll probably appreciate the convertible bodystyle more than the coupe.
Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?
Tue, 19 Feb 2013Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.
Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
