Up for sale is my 96' 2dr 2wd Yukon SLT that I bought about a year ago out of California. I shipped it up to NY and started to clean it up and make some minor changes. I have all of the receipts from what I have done to the Yukon and at this point with another SUV and two other trucks under my name, I don't want or have the room for this anymore. It currently resides in my garage and sits on a battery tender. The only problem I have had with it is the fuel pump went out and I had to replace it. It runs and drives well especially for being lowered, stops well and start up every time without a problem. It has never been driven in snow or salt, I just pulled it out of the garage for the pictures and then rolled it back in. Here is a list of what I have done to it in the time that I have owned it and associated prices-
Parts:
- Installed JVC KD-R730BT Deck (Bluetooth and Ipod h/u) with two new Memphis 4x10" 2-ways speakers -- $385.18
- Installed MIP Poly Vinyl in the rear (Front mat is rolled up in the large box pictured in the back) - $301.70
- Repacked wheel bearings and new front rotors (the slotted/drilled rotors it had were warped and I couldn't live with it) - $331.65
- New Fuel Pump - $463.74
- New 16" 2000 Tahoe Limited Wheels - $700 (New out of the box this is the first time they have had tires mounted on them!)
- New Falken S/TZ-04 255/65R-16 and 235/60R16 Tires (0 miles!) - $540.73
- Anzo LED Parking lights - $112.04
- Spyder Projector headlights - $140.11
- GMC metal door sills - $120.32
Labor:
-Removed front lights and grill sanded down and painted the core support, radiator shroud and inner fenders
-Scrubbed, sanded and repainted inner wheel wells both front and rear
-Sanded and spot painted the frame
-Removed all of the interior:
> Cleaned and re-dyed all panels and pillars
> Cleaned and conditioned the leather seats
> Cleaned, shampooed and scrubbed the front carpet
-Went through all of the door jambs with some light cutting compound and brought the faded/stained paint back to life
This is actually all I can remember doing at this point and time. Here is what I was told was done to the Yukon before I bought it and what I looked at and confirmed
- Belltech 5/7 Drop kit with bolt-in c-notch and shocks
- Rebuilt 4L60E at 90k miles
- Oil filter and change at 91k miles
- Clear Marker lights
Aside from that, there really isn't much to the Yukon. It has a clean carfax that I can send to you to you can see that I am the 5th owner and have had it for 8 months and that there is nothing to hide about it. I've enjoyed it, but if I were to keep it I would rather have a tailgate instead of barn doors and a few other minor things that I would change. Now, as I have mentioned everything I have done and what I know to be good about the Yukon...here is some of the bad. I have included pictures of everything and they are at the end of the gallery.
- Three dents on the pass front fender
- Slight damage from a car thief in Cali on the Pass door handle
- One of the previous owners removed the roof rack and filled the holes with silicon or something...I was planning buying another roof rack but haven't found one yet.
- One small ding in the pass side quarter about 3 inches from the door
- Drivers side seat has a rip in it
If you have any questions about the Yukon even after everything I've said, feel free to ask. I do have a reserve on it and don't bother asking what it is. I've looked around several sites and priced the Yukon accordingly, am I losing money on it...of course. Am I gonna let someone else get a rock bottom deal, heck no. I think my price is more than fair for the condition of the Yukon and the miles it has. I see 130k+ mile Tahoe's and Yukon's sell on here and other sites for $5000-6500 all the time, so there is no point trying to low ball me. If you want it, you'll get a fair price and that is the way I am looking at it.
I am including the Front portion of the Poly Vinyl matting, and a new spectre air filter in with the sale. I also have a set of American Racing wheels built to a special offset specifically for this Yukon if you are interested. Let me know ahead of time.

GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.
Chevrolet SS previewed by Holden VF Commodore SS V show car
Thu, 14 Feb 2013It won't be long before we see the official, production-ready Chevrolet SS sedan (hint: it will be revealed this weekend). And to tide us over until all of the official details are released about the US-spec version, we have this: the Holden VF Commodore SS V show car, a performance-oriented brother to the Calais V that debuted earlier in the week.
What we really want to know about the SS V is what lies underhood, but General Motors' Australian arm is keeping that under wraps until the Chevy model breaks cover this weekend. Nevertheless, it's obvious that the SS V will be a serious performer, with all sorts of aggressive cues driving that home on the car's exterior. Take a look at those 20-inch billet aluminum wheels that hide big Brembo brake calipers up front, the sculpted hood and front fascia, the wide air intakes with LED running lights and the quad exhaust pipes out back. It's like the Pontiac G8 GXP never even left us.
Inside, there's a sporty-looking interior with aluminum accents that mix in with black leather and suede surfaces, all tied together in the middle with an eight-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system. It looks great, and again, while we don't know anything regarding powertrain details, it makes us oh-so happy to see a manual shifter smack dab in the middle of the center console.
Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car
Wed, 20 Feb 2013We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above.
