This is the law enforcement version of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe RWD "Police Pursuit Vehicle" (PPV). The PPV trim has a lower center of gravity and can be used for all purposes including pursuits and high speed responses, making it one of the only pursuit-rated SUVs. Under the hood the Tahoe Police is powered by a 5.3-liter V8 engine that produces 320 hp and 340 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0-60 time of 7.3 seconds. The V8 engine, mated to a 4-speed automatic, features active fuel management that shuts down half of the engine at highway speeds for better fuel economy, and can be run on E85 to improve fuel efficiency. Also had upgraded suspension., tire pressure monitoring, heavy-duty dual batteries, larger disc brakes equipped with ABS, front/side/curtain airbags, and a 160-amp alternator. Has had a lot of new parts put on in the past year including, new shocks, new waterpump , tensioner pulley, a/c belt and tensioner,oil presuure sender and sensor,new ignition wires,a Bully Dog programmer for the transmission to compensate for the larger wheels,it has also had the top end rebuilt with a new camshaft,lifters,all new bolts and gaskets,and a new computer.It has a rebuilt transmission as well.There are a few other things not mentioned,and there is paperwork to verify all work.All of the major work has been done at a Chevrolet dealership. Also has,24" wheels. Pioneer screen and wired for amplifier,usb,and ipod. The leather is in good condition with one small tear in driver seat as seen in photos. Body and paint also in good condition with few minor scratches,and one tire has a nick in it from brushing the curb. Runs and drives great. Has been detailed. Fri, 24 Aug 2012It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
GM recalls 8,500 Chevrolet Malibu models for rear suspension glitch
Mon, 04 Feb 2013According to a letter from General Motors to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, flaws in the build process of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu have led to the recall of 8,519 cars. Units built between December 6, 2011 and January 15, 2013 may have been assembled with rear suspension cradles that had insufficient torque applied to certain bolts. That out-of-spec assembly could lead to issues ranging from slight noises to a loss of vehicle control.
The problem was first noticed in December of last year by a GM test fleet driver and eventually tracked back to the improperly torqued bolts on the suspension cradle assembled through July 2012 by a supplier located not too far from the Malibu's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Since an official NHTSA recall notice has not been issued yet, it isn't clear whether or not Detroit-built Malibus were the only ones affected (the 2013 Malibu is also built at GM's Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas). Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting vehicles for proper torque specs, retightening if not within specs and, in some cases, perform a rear-wheel alignment.
