History
We bought this from a local dealer in 2008 and it has been a daily driver for my wife for the last 6 years. It has been very dependable but as our family has grown we needed a bigger vehicle.

Condition
This Tracker runs and drives perfect.
It starts right up every time and idles properly in all conditions. You can leave it sitting for weeks and it still fires right up when you need it. The engine does not burn any oil, there is no need to add oil between oil changes. The check engine light is not on.
The transmission shifts great through all gears, there is no slipping or shuddering.
The 4 wheel drive works perfect.
The steering and suspension are in perfect working order, there are no vibrations or clunks, it drives perfectly straight.
The tires were all replaced in 2012 and still have plenty of tread left. They do not leak any air and do not wobble or vibrate.
The brakes work great, there is no spongy pedal and it doesn't vibrate or pull to one side under light or heavy braking.
All lights and accessories work great including air conditioning.
The interior is in good shape, no rips or tears in the seats.
It has not been smoked in. It doesn't have any smells.

I changed the oil and replaced the valve cover gasket last weekend due to a very small oil leak.
We replaced the front brake rotors and pads a year ago.
Tires were replaced 2 years ago

The windshield has a chip and crack on the edge of the drivers side, you can get a new one put in for $250 but it is not in your line of sight so it's not necessary
There are some small dents and scratches around the vehicle.
The bottom under the doors has recently developed some surface rust.

The Tracker is built on a truck frame unlike most other small SUV's which use weaker car parts.
The 4 wheel drive is also similar to what you find in a truck, it locks the front and rear axles together so this would not be suitable for use on dry pavement but you will have no problem with the deepest of snow drifts.

Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.

GM throttles back Chevy Malibu, Buick LaCrosse production over swollen inventories

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

As inventory of the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse continues to pile up, General Motors will be idling its Fairfax Assembly Plant for two weeks, according to Automotive News. This move comes about a month after the plant was shut down for three weeks in late December and early January for the same reason. As of January 31, the GM had a 94-day supply of Malibu stock while the LaCrosse was a little worse with a 117-day supply.
Just last week, GM announced that it would be investing $600 million in upgrading this plant, but it's unclear what future plans the company has in store for Fairfax considering slow sales of both the plant's models. We do expect a refreshed and more luxurious LaCrosse shortly and an early design update for the Malibu to be announced at some point this year, although we have had no official word as to when either will happen.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
