1972 DeTomaso Pantera - 35,320 Miles - Original appearance with modern performance
Fantastic performance on a fresh 351C stroker-motor with the original motor preserved and included separately
Perfectly stock cars are appealing to the eye but a good running Prius may over-power a stock Pantera.
Why not keep your low-mileage Pantera basically original but add an aluminum-headed, blue-printed engine with 500
horsepower lying in wait? This car has the full package.
Chassis number: THPNMR12662
Never raced or crashed.
Maintained by professional mechanic with over 30 years experience with the marque.
No rust
35,320 carefully driven and maintained miles.
This car comes with two engines. The original engine has been separated from the car and is included with the
original screen engine cover.
The new engine is a 351 Cleveland stroker motor with aluminum heads, aluminum SVO manifold and a Holley 850 CFM
carburetor. This engine has been blue-printed and uses all new performance parts. Horsepower is estimated at 500
conservatively. The engine has approximately 1,000 miles of use. The engine was precision-built by one of America's
top engine builders.
The ZF transmission has been rebuilt and updated by RBT Transmissions and has approximately 2,500 miles of
driving experience.
Gear reduction starter, 10-quart oil pan, high output oil pump and a new water pump.
The air conditioning system blows cold and features a modern Rotary compressor.
The wheels are polished billet aluminum material, 17 inches in diameter. The tires are Michelin Pilot Sports:
225/45ZR17 in front and 335/35ZR17 rears.
The cooling system has been improved with a thicker core, large fans and stainless steel pipes and tanks.
The interior is as new and the dash has never had a radio installed. All lights and switches work right down to
the original windshield washer. The photos look like an original Pantera brochure.
The body is very straight and the new owner can simply start enjoying this car immediately.
Panteras have now become the objects of collectors' and investors' attention and there has been nearly a
doubling of prices over the last several years. This is expected to continue. The cars are truly a pleasure to
drive and are well supported from a parts standpoint and vibrant enthusiast community.
If you have been waiting for a Pantera to arrive on the scene that appealed to your originality instincts but
also was able to deliver a performance punch as well, you should make your move now on this phenomenal car.
This Pantera is located in Oklahoma. Reasonably priced transportation can be arranged, both national and
international.

37K miles in a 1967 Datsun Roadster

Tue, 11 Mar 2014

When we think of comfy, long-distance road cars, there are a few obvious choices. A Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Bentley Continental GT or, assuming fuel efficiency isn't paramount, a Range Rover are all good options for a road trip. But what if that road trip was 37,000 miles? Maybe something more reliable but still comfortable, then, like a Honda Accord. What about a 1967 Datsun Roadster?
As insane as it sounds, Scott Fisher is doing just that, running a Datsun 1600 Roadster across North America and racking up 13,500 miles in his first three months on the road. His total journey will see him pile over 37,000 miles on his red convertible. The car is lightly modified, but most of the work is for the sake of reliability and comfort, with a five-speed manual 'box, an upgraded radiator and electronic ignition.
Fisher's trip hasn't been all smooth, with a few typical bits of trouble. He also ran into some deer in Utah, quite literally, clipping one of the animals, which delivered quite a bit of damage to the passenger's front fender (hence the rear three-quarter view in our lead shot). Still, the car seems to be holding up well, as shown in this latest video from Petrolicious.

Nissan IDx 'in the plan' for production, needs support from fans [w/poll]

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

If there's a trend in the auto industry we can firmly get behind, it's the small, light and affordable rear-drive coupe. The positive critical reception to the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ twins has encouraged other manufacturers to look at building their own rear drivers, and even a few to show actual concept cars based on the idea. The Chevrolet Code 130R from 2012 and more recently, the Nissan IDx twins that were first shown at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show both come to mind, as does the brand-new Kia GT4 Stinger Concept.
Nissan trotted out the IDx Nismo and the IDx Freeflow for another showing in Detroit and we'll admit to being totally smitten with both cars. Again. The duo draw inspiration from the iconic Datsun 510, a lightweight, affordable rear-driver that remains a cult favorite decades after production ended.
Now, a report from our friends at AutoWeek reveals that we may, possibly, hopefully see a production IDx, provided fans make a strong enough case for it. "It's in the plan," Nissan product boss Andy Palmer told AW. According to the report, Palmer said the IDx is "into the first sage of the development process. The next stage is project validation and then looking at the business case. It's no one's intent to waste millions of the company's money, so obviously we have a good feeling about this one."

Datsun officially reborn with Go model for India [w/video]

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

In March of 2012, Nissan announced the return of its historic Datsun brand. Datsun used to represent the Nissan brand in a number of markets, but its badge hasn't been worn on a new model since 1981. In 2013, though, it has been relaunched as the Japanese manufacturer's budget offering in the emerging markets of India and Russia.
The model that will lead that charge, at least in India, is the Go, a car that pays tribute to the very first Datsun, the DAT-GO.
The operative term with the Datsun brand is: "budget offering." Don't step inside the Go and expect beautiful hides or brushed metals (it's being sold in India, after all). The instrument cluster features a simple speedometer, while the five-speed manual and the center stack above it are rather barren. It's not without luxuries, though, as iPod-style connectivity is available through a Mobile Docking Station.
