Thank you for looking at my auction for our 1975 Datsun 280Z. This was a father and son project that we've lost interest in. Please read the entire description before bidding. We bought the car locally with a bad motor and installed the current drivetrain last year. The car has a GM 5.3 LS FUEL INJECTED V-8 with a turbo 350 automatic. We used an auto because we planned on using a 76mm turbo (never installed) and it was a factory auto car. We spent a ton of  $$$ on the car and did not cut any corners when building. Here is a rundown of the basics

HERE IS A LINK TO MY PHOTOBUCKET PAGE WITH LOTS OF PICTURES----                        http://s591.photobucket.com/user/shupaye1/library/280Z%20pics?sort=3&page=1

 Walboro fuel pump
braided Aeroquip hoses with all -6 AN fittings
LS 6 intake
 32 lb injectors
Aeromotive fuel rails
243 CNC PORTED HEADS $$$
aluminum radiator-- runs very cool-- electric fan
Thunder racing 230 cam
Sanderson headers  with custom MANDREL 2.5" into 3" EXHAUST flows great

$$$$$AFTERMARKET 4340 AXLE FLANGES WITH CV AXLES (welded diff)$$$$$
aftermarket sway bars front and rear
new KYB struts and lowered 1.5"
 recent OPTIMA BATTERY
almost new Michelin tires
period correct American Racing "Vector" wheels 14x7
aftermarket urethane air dam on front
Autometer tach
Custom motor and transmission mounts (wanted motor back as far as possible and JCI etc placed engine to far forward for our tastes see pics plz)
We replaced the drivers side floor and a few small areas around the drain plugs on the passenger side and 2 small patches on the bottom of the front fenders( very common areas). Under the battery is very nice. It has the original frame rails that are very nice as is the rest of the car. It was/is a very solid South Carolina car. It has mostly original paint BUT IT NEEDS PAINT!!!  My son let a buddy drive it and he jumped on it in 2nd gear blew the tires off (spinning)and lost control taking out a few small trees and dented the drivers side fender and door---no other damage and very minor for any body shop to repair. The car drives great, very smooth, handles great and is very streetable/dependable. Car has been 7.36 @ 94 mph  in the 1/8th as it sits with 205/70 r14 tires. We wanted the car to be a "sleeper".
THE REASON FOR SELLING AND THE LOW RESERVE IS DUE TO A BOTTOM END NOISE/KNOCK IT WILL CRANK AND DRIVE--- AS SOON AS IT STARTED MAKING THE NOISE WE SHUT IT DOWN AND HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE. GREAT CHANCE TO THROW IN A JUNKYARD 5.3 OR 6.0 AND GO HAVE FUN OR ??? OUR LOSS IS YOUR GAIN!!! WE HAVE SPENT  OVER 10k ON THE CAR AND YOU COULD NOT BEGIN TO BUILD IT FOR WHAT OUR RESERVE IS.

We reserve the right to end the listing at any time due to local sale. questions or concerns just call me @ 864-483-7619 thanks and good luck

Datsun debuts new seven-seat Go+ in Indonesia [w/video]

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

The Datsun name may have long since been replaced by Nissan, but the old brand is making a comeback - in certain markets, at least. Nissan relaunched the Datsun brand in July as its new budget brand for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback, and has now followed up with the addition of the larger Go+.
Set to be built in Indonesia at Nissan's plant in Purwakarta, the Go+ debuts today in the capital of Jakarta as the second model in the new Datsun lineup. The seven-passenger minivan features flexible seating in a compact form 13 feet long, powered by an unspecified 1.2-liter engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Nissan isn't saying much else about the model, but hopes the new Datsun twins will account for half of its sales in Indonesia within three years. The low price target for both models - set to come in at less than 100 million rupiah ($8,700) - ought to help it get there. The lineup is then scheduled to reach other markets, starting with India, Russia and South Africa next year.

Malaise Era All-Stars

Fri, 17 May 2013

A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:

Roadkill pits every project car against each other

Sat, 22 Feb 2014

The guys behind Motor Trend's monthly Roadkill series have collected nine of their favorite project cars from their videos and pitted them against each other in a battle royale to determine a winner. It's 44 minutes long, but it's completely worth the investment of time.
The cars run the gamut from a 1973 Chevrolet Ramp Truck, a 1975 AMC Pacer and a legitimately impressive 1967 Chevy Camaro, and they are pitted against each other to see which is the fastest around an autocross course. The drivers include Roadkill's two hosts and Motor Trend's Johnny Lieberman and Carlos Lago. It's reminiscent of the best episodes of Top Gear and worth a watch.
So it's the weekend - the perfect time to relax. Grab your preferred beverage, get comfortable and enjoy 44 minutes of some seriously ratty but utterly cool project cars as they are throttled within an inch of their lives (or past it). Scroll down to check out the video.
