Mopar E-body, B5 Blue Ext / Blue Int on 2040-cars
Live Oak, Florida, United States
For sale is my 1973 Dodge Challenger. The car was a project intended for a big block swap but having too many projects dictates a sale. This car is being sold as a rolling chassis, less engine and transmission, but will include many parts to complete an installation. Originally this car was equipped with a 318/904 Engine and transmission combo but it would be very easy to drop in an engine combination of the buyer's choosing, given the parts included.
Some features about the car: * Disc front brakes * Power steering * All glass is intact and in good shape. * All trim pieces, lighting, etc is intact and in decent shape. * Rallye Hood * 8 3/4" Rear end, 3.23 Ratio * Center console shift Slapstick shifter mechanism with nice handle. * V8 K-frame * Complete interior, however, the plastic panels are faded and could use a dying, Factory color-coded interior dye is included. * New Legendary Interiors replacement blue seat covers on the front, the rear seat is original and in good shape. * Two rear valances (one has dual exhaust cutouts, one does not) * The inside of the car is currently LOADED with boxes of spare parts. (Grille trim, random stainless pieces, interior trim, headlight trim, nice seatbelts, window cranks, driveshaft for 318/904, Challenger-specific rectangular exhaust tips, etc) * Brand new 26" Big Block radiator in the box inside the car. What this car is, is a decent, buildable chassis that is most importantly complete with the associated interior parts, good glass, and associated trim pieces. (minus drivetrain, obviously) The body of the car is in fair condition, but it's obviously a car that's over 40 years old and needs some attention, so please take a good look at the photos detailing the condition. The car has decent floors, and is a good candidate to fix up and make a fun driver. The fenders are aftermarket fg ones. There are some bubbles in the paint on the hood due to a tarp trapping moisture and there is some rust forming around the lower body which is typical of these cars. The drivers front frame rail needs patched or replaced (passenger side appears fine), this is a ~$300 part and wasn't a big deal to me considering I had intended on welding in sub-frame connectors regardless to support the power of a big block in this chassis. I've included pics showing these flaws. Any prospective buyer is encouraged to inspect the car in person or ask me any questions prior to purchase. This car is also for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell. If Buy-It-Now is used, the purchaser will also receive a set of Hedman headers for a big block E-body, and two Big block 727 transmissions with other parts to finish a drivetrain swap. |

Roadkill pits every project car against each other
Sat, 22 Feb 2014The guys behind Motor Trend's monthly Roadkill series have collected nine of their favorite project cars from their videos and pitted them against each other in a battle royale to determine a winner. It's 44 minutes long, but it's completely worth the investment of time.
The cars run the gamut from a 1973 Chevrolet Ramp Truck, a 1975 AMC Pacer and a legitimately impressive 1967 Chevy Camaro, and they are pitted against each other to see which is the fastest around an autocross course. The drivers include Roadkill's two hosts and Motor Trend's Johnny Lieberman and Carlos Lago. It's reminiscent of the best episodes of Top Gear and worth a watch.
So it's the weekend - the perfect time to relax. Grab your preferred beverage, get comfortable and enjoy 44 minutes of some seriously ratty but utterly cool project cars as they are throttled within an inch of their lives (or past it). Scroll down to check out the video.
SRT reveals Satin Vapor Edition 300, Charger and Challenger SRT models
Fri, 07 Feb 2014With the exception of some notable truck and van introductions, Chrysler brands have tended to use the Chicago Auto Show to bring out new special editions, pimp their aftermarket parts support or indulge in the occasional flight of fancy. That plan is holding true for 2014, as well. Cases in point are these new Satin Vapor Editions of the 2014-model-year Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 - all from SRT.
The Satin Vapor name may sound like a failed 1970s glam-rock band, or a pseudo-gynecological diagnosis from the Old West, but is, in fact, pretty much a tape-and-trim package for this trio of hi-po Mopars. 300, Challenger and Charger alike come shod with 20-inch aluminum wheels finished in Black Satin Vapor Chrome, and are accented with Satin Black bits aplenty. The 300 gets blacked-out mirrors, spoiler and roof; the Challenger applies it to mirrors and its fuel door; while the Charger has the stuff covering its roof, hood and Super Bee tail graphic.
Interiors of the cars have been mildly updated as well, with all three getting some combination of Nappa leather, ultra-suede and carbon-fiberish finishes.
Mopar '13 Dart priced from $25,485*
Wed, 12 Jun 2013For the past few years, Chrysler's Mopar in-house tuning division has created its own one-off versions of several cars in the automaker's portfolio, including the Mopar '10 Challenger, Mopar '11 Charger and Mopar '12 300. For 2013, the black-and-blue up-do has been given to the new Dart compact, and Chrysler has announced that the limited-edition sedan is now available for order, priced from $25,485, not including *$995 for destination.
Like previous Mopar edition vehicles, the Dart is painted in a signature Pitch Black exterior with an offset blue racing stripe. The sedan sits seven millimeters lower to the ground and gets visual add-ons like a chin spoiler, decklid spoiler and rear diffuser, along with gloss black 18-inch alloy wheels.
Performance wise, the Dart's 1.4-liter MultiAir inline four-cylinder engine remains, producing 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The Mopar car gets a sport-tuned exhaust system along with revised power steering calibration and beefier brakes.
