I have owned this Charger since 1981.It is part of my collection of 5 Hi performance Dodges.I have decided to let it go to some one who would like to have the opportunity to restore a true 68 383 4 speed Charger.I DO have a clear title from when I purchased it in 81.This car has been in storage for 25 years. The engine is a 69 E 383 4 bbl completely original stock bore unmolested unit.It ran fine when it was pulled 25 years ago.Even though it has been pickled I personally would rebuild it.The trans is the original 833 23 spline unit and is in very good condition, gears are good, input shaft is good,a seal kit is a must but you may find a need a to replace needles or bearings with a unit that has sat that long. The shifter is the very rare original offset hurst unit that comes up thru the console.Rear is original also. The fender build tag is intact.I do NOT have the build sheet. The serial numbers on the dash, rad support and trunk seal lip all match. The interior is 90 % complete. The seats are driver quality with some imperfections but I would recover them. The console is good with a very good boot plate but the console door is poor. The door panels are there but not useable as they are warped. The upper pads are in good condion with 2 small imperfections. The arm rests are ok with faded backing plates.Panel edge chrome is excellent. Will need new headliner.Dash is complete with factory 8 track with reverb system.Dash cluster will need to be restored as the gauges have darkened.Dash pads are all there and are driver quality with some warping. The body is complete. It will need the usual rear end replacement.Trunk floor,1/4 extentions, inner rear member, bottom rear valance all need to be replaced. The frame rails are in good shape as they were treated thru the years. The front and back lowers on both 1/4's need to be replaced. The door jams and hinges are very good as doors shut solidly. The outer sills should be replaced. The lower edge of the drivers door needs metal work. The engine compartment is in very good condition with all the original pieces intact EXCEPT the radiator. The front grill is in very good driver condition with all original equipment intact.Front valance will need to be worked but the lens will need replaceing.Bumpers are straight but should be rechromed. The suspension and brake system are all unmolested, intact and original. It comes with a new windsheild and new emblems I had planned on using. All chrome is there with 95 % in good driver quality.Side markers and tail lites are very good.If you would like any more info or have questions I can be reached at 609-351-0624

1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.

Weekly Recap: New bosses try to jump-start Cadillac and Lincoln

Sat, 26 Jul 2014

Both of America's domestic luxury brands seem to be stuck in neutral.
It's ironic that Cadillac and Lincoln got new bosses within days of each other this month. It's also a commentary on the fact both of America's domestic luxury brands seem to be stuck in neutral.

Dodge CEO and Gas Monkey Garage dissect the 10-second Challenger Hellcat

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

So far, whenever we've seen the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT with its 707-horsepower, supercharged Hellcat V8, the muscle car has been smoking its tires. Dodge is finally proving that the SRT can do more than ruin perfectly good sets of rubber, though. In it's latest video, company CEO Tim Kuniskis hands the Hellcat off to the guys from Gas Monkey Garage to show how quickly the automaker's most powerful model can make it down the drag strip.
Of course, the only fitting contender to race against Dodge's latest top muscle car is its grandpa - a Hemi-powered 1971 Challenger, in this case. Before getting to the main event, the hosts also show off some of the SRT's unique features like the blanks in the grille that feed the intercoolers. We'll go ahead and spoil that the Hellcat makes its pass in the 10-second range, and the video admits the tires on the production version would take just a touch longer to cover the quarter-mile. However, you have to watch film to see just how quick it actually goes. Scroll down to see a classic example of American muscle drag racing against its modern legacy.
