Up for sale is a 1969 Dodge coronet 500 convertible. Numbers matching drivetrain with a high percentage of original parts and Trim. While it doesn't look like a 145,000 + mile car, I have to assume that the 5 digit odometer has turned over. Despite it's age it is in good shape. I have driven this all the way out to Albany New York in this to my home near Cape Cod, and feel confident getting in and driving. As always with any used car there are high points and low points and I will try to address those separately. I have had this car for just shy of 2 years and it hasn't given me any issues. I had the typical dream to turn this into a 440 powered beast, but my family and I have started to really enjoy using our RV, which is another expensive hobby, so something has to give. I will describe this car to the best of my ability but feel free to ask any questions. I reserve the right to end this auction early if I choose to do so.I am listing this car for a good bit less than when I bought it, as in this economy these classics aren't getting what they used to a few years ago. That said, it is still a rare B Body convertible which is a desirable product for MOPAR fans, and I will NOT consider any further price drop

The Good:
Original Drivetrain, with what appear to be the original key engine parts and accessories.
All new fluids: Oil,Transmission,Brake Fluid,Coolant, rear differential fluid, New thermostat and Upper radiator hose. Also Brand new Battery and Plugs within the last year.
Tires we newly added when I bought the car and have good tread life and are in good condition.
Current Massachusetts inspection sticker (Mass has one of the tougher Inspection programs in the USA)
Convertible top seems to be a fairly recent replacement and is in good shape, although the 2 top locks seem to be the originals.Top goes up and down quickly and smoothly without noises or issues.
Aside from a rip in the driver's seat and a worn down carpet the interior is in good shape. I think you could fix the seat and carpet and have a great looking interior. Center console is beautiful
Brakes appear to be in good shape too. stops well
Engine runs clean and starts right up and transmission shifts smoothly. No groans or noises from rear differential.
Doors close easily and I see no signs of stress cracks in body or frame. Glass is also in good shape and the bumpers look like new.
Framework has had some welded repair sections which I tried to capture in pics. Professional repairs which hold up well. Ran this car by Auto Rust Technicians in Rhode Island after I brought it home and they thought the car was pretty sweet.

The not so good:
May not show in the pictures, but the front passenger fender was creased by the prior owner. It has been pushed out but is not 100% perfect
Car will someday need right rear 1/4 patch panel and left rear 1/4 skin
I think it may need a partial trunk panel if you really wanted to re do it to showroom fresh.
Frame work could benefit from a grinding and a coating of POR 15, but the car is strong and in good shape.

I have worked to describe this vehicle to the best of my ability but it is almost 45 years old and is sold as is with no warranty either written or implied. Buyer is responsible for all taxes and shipping. 500.00 non refundable deposit is required within 24 hours of auction close, and Low/no feedback bidders Must contact me prior to bidding, or you bid will be rejected. I work weekends but will do my best to accommodate anyone who wishes to see the car in person, or have a representative stop by in their place. Valid and clear mass title in my name.I will work with US and international buyers. Please note that funds must be paid in full via cash, bank transfer or paypal before car and title are released Thanks!

Dodge Charger Hellcat hitting 60 in 2.9 seconds on drag radials?

Thu, 02 Oct 2014

The Dodge boys and their cousins from SRT have shoehorned the same 707-horsepower, 6.2-liter supercharged V8 into both the Dodge Challenger and Charger. The former being a two-door, it's lighter than the latter four-door sedan. So it would stand to reason that the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat would be the quicker of the two, right?
Only that's not necessarily proving to be the case. On stock rubber, yes, the coupe beats the sedan: Dodge quotes a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds for the Charger SRT Hellcat and 3.5 for the Challenger. Same gap across the quarter-mile: 11 seconds flat for the Charger versus 10.8 seconds for the Challenger. But according to recent reports, the story changes when you put both on drag radials.
While visiting Chrysler HQ in Auburn Hills, MI, TorqueNews.com caught wind of performance figures for the Charger Hellcat on drag tires: 0-60 in a mind-blowing 2.9 seconds and a quarter-mile in just 10.7. The latter figure just barely pips the Hellcat-powered Challenger's NHRA-certified figure of 10.8, making the Charger not only the fastest sedan on the market, but also the fastest muscle car. What isn't immediately clear, however, is whether the drag radials in question have any tread on them and are street-legal, or if they're pure slicks confined to a closed strip.

Small number of 2013 Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger models recalled

Sun, 24 Feb 2013

A small number of units of the 2013 Chrysler 200 (inset) and 2013 Dodge Avenger are being recalled over a broken control valve in the fuel tank assembly. The potential 1,785 sedans were manufactured late last year, and if affected with a broken control valve could suffer from stalling or fuel leakage.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration notes that the recall should begin next month, at which time owners can take their cars to dealers for repair free of charge. The full release with more information is just below.

Jay Leno gets his denim mitts on Dodge's new Challenger Hellcat

Mon, 04 Aug 2014

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is definitely the performance car of the moment. The fact that in the near future, people will be able to buy a 707-horsepower muscle machine straight from a major automaker for $59,995 and with a factory warranty almost seems absurd. We drove it recently and found the Hellcat to be just as much of a beast as its numbers would suggest. Now, it's a certain comedian's turn behind the wheel in the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage.
This week's guest is Dodge President and CEO Tim Kuniskis, and he's there to drop all sorts of interesting factoids about the Hellcat. For example, its Pirelli P Zero tires retail at around $300 each, he says. That makes its smoky burnouts a rather expensive proposition. Kuniskis, who recently hinted at a mystery Woodward Dream Cruise debut, also talks about the genesis of the 2015 SRT project with a goal to get over some of the standard Challenger's weight and size disadvantages. The fix is a supercharged V8, massive brakes and other goodies to smooth over the platform's more glaring shortcomings.
Leno appears to get a big kick out of the Hellcat. However, he can't seem to stop bringing up his desire to drive one with a six-speed manual. They obviously exist, but Kuniskis has an eight-speed automatic for the retired Tonight Show host to try out. Of course, as with any Hellcat video, there has to be at least one burnout. Despite the expensive tires, it seems like enthusiast's law at this point - and dear ol' Jay wouldn't want to break any rules, would he?
