'89 Dodge Dakota Convertible Sport Pickup Truck on 2040-cars
Owatonna, Minnesota, United States
1989 Dodge Dakota Sport Convertible. I am the 2nd owner of this
collectors truck. I bought it in 1991 in Ohio. It was my daily driver for many
years and has run perfectly. It is rust free. It has been garaged it's entire
life. It has been driven very little over the last 12 years. I keep it stored
and clean in my garage. I drive it twice a year and have considered selling
locally at various car shows. I want to keep it original so I have not touched
up some of the outside wear. In 1995 I put in a brand new transmission which
has worked perfectly. Somewhere about '99 or 2000 it suffered some hail damage
on the body and the convertible top. The body was repaired and the top was
replaced. The bumpers and tail gate have some scuff marks that
you may not be able to see in the pictures. But the vehicle runs perfectly and
has no leaks. It is fully drive-able and ready for a road trip. 169,000 well
maintained miles. Fewer that 1800 Dodge Dakota Convertibles were made and far fewer
are on the road today. I set my asking price by what the truck is worth as a
vehicle, what it is worth to me and what the market seems to suggest the truck
is worth as a collectible. Some predict the value will continue to rise as long
as it stays in this condition.
You will need to pick up the vehicle or make arrangements for
delivery. I live in Southern Minnesota. |

Dodge, Hyundai crowdsourced-funding sites deemed successes
Wed, 05 Jun 2013What's not to love about crowdsourcing? This idea, after all, has given us Kickstarter as well Local Motors, but automakers are starting to use the social platform to sell more cars (or just drum up a little PR). Both Dodge and Hyundai have used "crowd-funding" recently, and while Automotive News is reporting that neither has racked up big sales with this gimmick, both automakers are pleased with the attention.
For Hyundai, it teamed up with website Motozuma.com to help customers crowdsource money for a down payment, and the automaker matched this amount up to $500. Last year, this helped Hyundai sell an extra 1,600 units, a fraction of its total 2012 sales. That figure is far larger than Dodge fared with the Dodge Dart Registry - it netted only two sales and a small number of individual options. This registry did help University of Southern California fraternity crowdsource $18,000 to buy a Dart for a local Meals on Wheels, however. Despite the low sales figures, Dodge and Hyundai are considering their crowdsourcing programs a success since it helped them connect with younger buyers.
Small number of 2013 Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger models recalled
Sun, 24 Feb 2013A small number of units of the 2013 Chrysler 200 (inset) and 2013 Dodge Avenger are being recalled over a broken control valve in the fuel tank assembly. The potential 1,785 sedans were manufactured late last year, and if affected with a broken control valve could suffer from stalling or fuel leakage.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration notes that the recall should begin next month, at which time owners can take their cars to dealers for repair free of charge. The full release with more information is just below.
Dodge unveils Special Service Durango for government fleets
Fri, 18 Oct 2013Straight off its refresh, the Dodge Durango is slipping back into its dress blues and getting back to work. The 2014 Dodge Durango Special Service Vehicle boasts all the refinements and improvements that the refreshed, civilian-spec model received, most notably a 15-percent improvement in fuel economy.
Designed for police and fire departments, and as Chrysler's answer to the Ford Police Interceptor Utility and Chevrolet Tahoe PPV in the growing service SUV market, the Durango boasts a 600-mile range, thanks to the addition of an eight-speed automatic, available on both the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 5.7-liter Hemi V8. Equipped with the 360-horsepower Hemi, the Durango SSV can tow up to 7,400 pounds (the V6 is limited to 6,200 pounds).
Police and fire department Durangos get a few special features over the civilian models. The electric systems are ruggedized, with a heavy duty battery and a 220-amp alternator in place, while the engine's water pump and oil cooler are both stronger. The brakes are tougher, and a load-leveling suspension has been fitted, too.
