68 Dodge Dart V8 Mopar: Not A Hemi! Great For Gts Clone on 2040-cars

Year:1968 Mileage:86000
Location:

Delafield, Wisconsin, United States

Delafield, Wisconsin, United States

NO RESERVE!!!

This is a super clean 68 dart 2 door hard top 318 automatic.  Perfect start for your hemi-dart clone or your big block GTS clone.  It starts, runs and drives great.  I purchased with the intention to turn it into an autocross car, but have too many other projects.  I will do my best to describe this car as accurately as possible.

While the car is super clean, it IS NOT a show car.  This is 100% a driver car.  Chrome is decent but does have some pitting.  The car is original in all ways.  It still has the bone stock 318 and the high performance 2 barrel carb... LOL.  It drives straight, stops decent, heater works, the AC turns on and blows, but there is no cold air.  As best as I can tell, the system needs a charge. No rust underneath, floor pans are solid. Trunk is solid.  Still has the original bumper jack.  The car is so clean, I can't imagine there are actually 86,000 miles on it, but thats what the odometer says.  The car has been re-painted the original dark blue.  I don't know for sure when, but it looks like a 15-20 year old paint job.  The car has an open differential in it and it is NOT an 8 3/4.  Finally I just replaced the rear brakes.  Completely new pads, wheel cylinders, drums and wheel kit.

Now for the not so nice.... Interior is dirty. Front seat is torn in several places. There is an oil leak, it appears to be a rear main.  There is a small dent/ding on the passenger side rear fender.  There is a slight exhaust leak right where the two exhaust manifold pipes merge into 1 collector.  Its not major, but it is there.  The car could use a slight tune up.  I never took the carb apart and I suspect it could use a good cleaning.  It has a slight bog right as you press the gas.  That being said, I drove it all this summer and just started the car today after sitting for the last month or so. it starts fine, idles nice and drives down the road with no problems. You could easily buy the car and drive it home if you want.  This is the perfect POWER TOUR car.

I REPEAT.. NO RESERVE AUCTION - HIGH BIDDER WINS THIS CAR

Details:  I make no warranty on the car.  It is sold by me, (a private seller) as is.  I live near Milwaukee, WI.  Once I have received payment in full, I will load on an open trailer and deliver up to 100 miles from zip code 53018 for $200. I will also help deliver the car to a transporter of your choice, free of charge within 30 miles of 53018.  I will not ship your car, I will not deliver the car further than 100 miles from 53018.  It is your responsibility to get the car home. I'm simply willing to help out.

Finally:  I have 100% positive feedback.  I will do whatever I can to make this a 100% positive transaction for you.  There is no funny business here.  No phantom bids, just a no reserve auction to buy a very nice car.  Buying a car online takes trust and lots of communication.  I will provide both.  I encourage you to stop by and see the car, ask questions or give me a call.  Send me an email, with your name/phone I will happily call you back.  Please no tire kickers.. no low ball offers.. The car is for sale locally, I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells.

I have a clear Wisconsin Title with no loan.  I will hand you the title and keys to the car once I receive the full purchase price.  My preference is cash or money transfer.  I will not accept any personal checks.    $500 is due immediately upon winning bid.  We will settle the remaining balance when you pick the car up.

Thanks for looking - Rob

Dodge hoping Fast & Furious appearance gives Dart a sales jolt [w/video]

Tue, 28 May 2013

According to Automotive News, Chrysler is hoping Fast & Furious 6 will be kind to the Dodge Dart. While the compact sedan doesn't actually show up in the film, Dodge has partnered up with the movie franchise for a new ad featuring the Dart.
Chrysler hasn't exactly seen the high sales numbers it was originally hoping for with the new sedan, thanks in part to a couple of missteps. For starters, most early-production vehicles were only offered with a manual transmission. Analysts believe Chrysler squandered around 95 percent of potential Dart sales because automatic transmission options weren't immediately available.
Right now, the Dodge Dart rakes 19th among compact cars, pulling down 31,064 sales through April. Last month was the company's strongest, with 8,099 units moving off of dealer lots. Unfortunately, the model has also been handicapped by its older sister, the Avenger. With Chrysler throwing heavy incentives at the aging sedan, many consumers have taken advantage of a better deal with the slightly larger, more powerful Avenger.

eGarage interviews a couple with 65 Vipers

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

Owning multiple vehicles can be a hassle worth enjoying if you're willing to spend the time and the money required to acquire and maintain them. But when it's hard to make ends meet while underused valuable hunks of metal, plastic and rubber sit happily taking up garage space, journeys into the depths of other people's well-developed automotive obsessions will either bring you and your cars closer together, or compel you to sell them off before you become one of those fanatics. A recent video by eGarage is one of those journeys, and it's not for the faint of heart: D'Ann and Wayne Rauh own 65 Dodge and SRT Vipers in a collection of automobiles that exceeds 100.
We're not sure if the couple has developed heat-resistant calves from stepping over Viper door sills made burning-hot by side-exhaust pipes, but we wouldn't be surprised if they did. We did learn that their obsession with the no-holds-barred sports car started in 2006 with a trip to a dealership to buy just one Viper, which goes to show how innocently car obsessions can start. But the Rauhs seem to be doing just fine - perhaps better - 64 more Vipers later.
Watch the video below for the full story and to see what eGarage claims is the world's largest Viper collection.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
