2005 Dodge Grand Caravan Sxt Mini Passenger Van 4-door 3.8l on 2040-cars
McCordsville, Indiana, United States
Maybe you’ve seen the craigslist ads for “MANly” trucks and
Jeeps. Don’t fall for them!!! Anyone can throw down some hard earned cash for a
vehicle. It takes a real MAN to drive around with a minivan-load of kids. You
know who you are… you are not only endowed with the body parts to create offspring,
but you have the MANliness to be a great dad who spends time with his family. This MANly machine has been thoroughly tested by a whole
flock of rugrats, and survived mostly unscathed for 133,000 miles. It is dark
blue – a MANly color. No baby blue for you, my MAN. It has a 3.8 Liter V-6. Any engine with a “V” is MANly. It
runs just fine. Speaking letters, this is an “SXT” version of the 2005 Dodge
Grand Caravan… honestly I have no idea what “SXT” stands for but it sure sounds
MANly. And a “caravan” is manly too… reminds me of a few rugged, enterprising families
travelling westward in conestoga wagons. Picture yourself heading west in this
modern-day conestoga wagon! All windows, locks, and the rear and sliding doors are all
POWER. Power is MANly, and YOU are in control of it! There is a thermometer so
you can educate the kids about how cold or hot it is; and a compass so you don’t
have to ask anyone for directions. The stereo has a CD player AND a cassette deck. Impress the
kids with your MANly 80’s heavy metal cassettes! It has top-secret cargo bins. Some people call that
Stow-n-go. I call it top-secret cargo bins. You can stash all your cool stuff
on trips so nobody sees it or messes with it. You could probably stash a kid in
there but that didn’t come from me. It’s amazing how those MANly engineers created
all that space. Or you can stash all five back seats in those top-secret cargo
bins and have a cavernous space to haul all kinds of MANly things, like bunk
beds for the kids, or a foosball or air hockey table. Foosball and air hockey
are MANly. You can also tow a pop-up camper with this machine; it’s equipped
with a hitch, brake controller, and 7-pin and 4-pin wire connector. Because camping
is MANly. You can have campfires when you go camping. We’re only selling this MANly machine because my MANliness
has outgrown it, requiring the ultimate… a FULL SIZE “SUPER DUTY” van! Maybe
this Dodge will be the stepping stone you need to reach full-blown ultimate MANliness
too. I’ll take the MANLY price of $4321 - or negotiate with me,
like a MAN. |

Custom 2014 Dodge Durango R/T proves SEMA can be subtle
Thu, 07 Nov 2013The annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas can often be a sensory overload of overwrought madness, with cars that don't even look drivable anymore. But every once in a while, a modestly modified show car graces our presence, like the customized Dodge Durango you see here, which, in addition to giving us our first glimpse at the aftermarket possibilities for the refreshed-for-2014 model, proves that a car doesn't have to be slammed, scooped, donked and Lambo-doored to have presence.
Sure, this Durango has custom hood inserts, dark 22-inch wheels and custom fender flares, but as far as external modifications go, that's it. Inside, Dodge has fitted new door sill guards, an ambient lighting kit, bright pedals, premium floor mats and - of course - Katzkin leather. The automaker has even added wireless internet connectivity as part of the excellent Uconnect infotainment system.
Performance upgrades are minimal on this Durango R/T, which comes packed with Chrysler's 5.7-liter Hemi V8. Larger brakes have been fitted, as have lowering springs (though it certainly doesn't look that much lower) and a custom exhaust.
Dodge Viper to out-Hell the Hellcat with supercharged V10?
Wed, 20 Aug 2014The Viper wouldn't be the Viper if it wasn't the most powerful model under the Chrysler umbrella. But with the arrival of the Hellcat engine in the Dodge Charger and Challenger, the Viper has fallen behind in the bragging rights department: where the new supercharged V8 produces 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated V10 offers "only" 640 hp and 600 lb-ft - gargantuan output figures by almost any other standard, but crucially behind on the SRT power scale. Conner Avenue is going to have to do something about that.
Although the Hellcat's engine reportedly won't fit under the Viper's hood, SRT is now rumored to have another trick up its sleeve: supercharge the existing V10. According to the Pentastar performance enthusiasts at allpar.com, Chrysler has already taken delivery of the first such prototype engines so that it can begin the process of fitting it into an upgraded Viper.
The spooled ten-pot is tipped to produce around 800 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. More than that and the Viper's drivetrain, chassis and bodywork would have to be substantially reworked. Though beefier transmissions are available, fitting them would reportedly set off a domino-game of changes required to handle the added torque. Which may be something Chrysler would be prepared to do for the next-generation model, but in the meantime, 800 hp could prove enough to put the Viper back atop the Mopar performance ladder where it belongs, and give it an edge against the new Corvette Z06 to rekindle sales.
Chrysler celebrates 30 years of minivans with special editions
Tue, 03 Sep 2013It's been known by many names: the Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Caravan, Plymouth Voyager, Chrysler Voyager, Lancia Voyager, Volkswagen Routan, Ram Cargo Van... but the bottom line is that Chrysler's minivans have defined the segment for 30 years now. In fact, Chrysler says it has sold 13 million of them since 1983, helped along by the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan that accounted for nearly half of all minivans sold in the United States just last year. So to celebrate this three-decade milestone, the Auburn Hills auto has announced a pair of new special editions.
The 2014 Chrysler Town & Country 30th Anniversary Edition starts the Touring-L trim and includes such special touches as 17-inch wheels, unique badging, available Granite Crystal Pearl paint and an interior decked out in black Alcantara and Nappa leather, piano black trim and all the optional bells and whistles bundled in.
The 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan 30th Anniversary Edition, meanwhile, starts off with either the SE or SXT trims and also upgrades with 17-inch alloys as well as color-keyed mirrors and an interior with silver stitching, piano black trim, power everything, and of course, those special badges.
