This is an sharp looking restored 1936 Dodge pickup. The body was removed during restoration and the frame sandblasted and painted black.  The motor is the original 201 cc 3 1/8" bore.  It was reconditioned at the time of restoration and has:   new pistons (oversize bore 0.100), rings, wrist pins, bearings, main bearings, camshaft bearings, balanced crank, seals, timing chain, oil seals, gaskets etc...  It runs great and has less than 200 hours on it since the restoration.  The body was restored by a combination of amateurs and professionals.  It has new brake lining, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake tubing.  Shocks are original a present. 5 6.00 x 16 Firestone tires in great shape (purchased new around 1995)    The paint job looks sharp (base coat/clear coat) and has a few blemishes.  There is one small rumple in the hood (barely noticeable) and two small pings in the rear of the cab.  The gauges are original (there is a complete, new, unused temperature gauge which needs to be re-filled with gas - an aftermarket temp gauge is installed under the dash as a precaution).   The wiring harness is new (lights and body) and was manufactured from the original cloth wiring.  The box and the drivers side door came from another truck.   I cut apart a parts truck I had and kept the motor, drive train (trans, rear axle and  drive shaft), brake parts and  suspension (springs, etc...) and these come with this truck.  A parts manual, service manual (plus Xerox copy specifically for the LC) and glove box manual come with this truck.

On Jul-02-14 at 05:53:23 PDT, seller added the following information:

In the original condition description I meant to write that the passenger side interior door hardware is not installed but I have it.  All other chrome hardware that I know of is on the truck.  In fact, I have duplicate hardware for the doors.  I don't have the crank hole cover, if such a piece did exist on this truck new.  The hubcaps and bumpers look nice but have not been re-chromed.

I sold my Viper, but the memories I'll keep

Thu, 30 May 2013

The following is written by auto industry veteran Tow Kowaleski. The words are his own, but the memories now belong to everyone thanks to his willingness to share. If you're an industry veteran with a story to share, contact us at tipsATautoblogDOTcom.
It became the flame that started the fire of belief in the next life of Chrysler.
I just sold a car. Nothing new. Millions do it every day. But my car was a 1995 Dodge Viper, so maybe it was a bit more unique since just 12,000 were built. And like others selling a car that's been a part of the family for close to 20 years, this was a confluence of emotions for me. I was sad to see it go, but happy to have the cash and one less big, shiny, under-utilized object in my life.

What's the deal with Chrysler demanding colleges crush their Vipers? [w/video]

Fri, 07 Mar 2014

Students and teachers at a Washington community college are up in arms following an order from Chrysler that it must destroy the pre-production Dodge Viper that was donated to the school's automotive technology program ten years ago.
The Viper in question is said to be the fourth off the production line, based on its VIN, and has had its emissions controls disabled, allowing its ten-cylinder engine to produce 600 horsepower, according to a report from Yahoo! Autos. As one of the first Vipers ever produced, the school's AT instructors claim it could be worth $250,000 in a museum, while a local news report purports that Jay Leno once tried to purchase the car, but the sale was prevented by Chrysler.
As pointed out by our friends at Autobytel, though, there are a lot of things in this story that don't quite add up. Immediately noticeable from the news report embedded below - which shows the car at South Puget Sound Community College - is that the car in question is not a 1992 model. When the Viper went on sale in 1992, it was only available as an RT/10 with a (flimsy) soft top, like the red car shown above. But the car featured in the report from KING5 News (inset image) is clearly a hardtop Viper GTS, which didn't enter production until 1996. And even if, as reported by a local newspaper, the hardtop featured is a prototype, it doesn't explain the lack of another iconic feature of the first Vipers - their distinctive side pipes. This kind of pokes holes in the school's argument that this is the fourth Viper to ever roll down the line. At best, this appears to be a pre-production Viper GTS.

Dodge Durango gets the Blacktop treatment

Sat, 09 Aug 2014

The Dodge Durango is getting a meaner, more aggressive look as it becomes the latest model from the brand to wear the Blacktop Appearance Package. The upgrades are strictly cosmetic, but they lend the SUV a more assertive demeanor that some buyers like.
Available on the SXT, Limited and R/T (shown above) models, all Blacktop Durangos get black 20-inch wheels, dual exhaust, bod- color fascia and gloss black trim. The grille surround, air dam, mirrors and headlight surrounds all get the inky treatment, as well. The improvements add $1,590 to the cost of the SXT. They come to $1,990 on the Limited but also include HID headlights with LED running lights and a leather interior. Finally, R/T buyers only need to pay $295 for the upgrades. The Blacktop Durango hits showrooms this October.
If you're already in the market for a Durango but want a dash more style with no added performance, the Blacktop might not be a bad way to go. It certainly gives the SUV a bit more edge than it has in stock form. Scroll down to read the full release.
