GT California Spyder is absolutely stunning!
This beautiful Modena Design Ferrari is 1 of only 32 re-released 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyders made and

THIS IS NOT A KIT CAR! This stunning classic was hand built by Modena Design & Development in the El Cajon, CA
facility. In the early 1980s California entrepreneurs Neil Glassmoyer and Mark Goyett founded Modena Design and
Development in El Cajon to manufacture the Modena Spyder California, a Ferrari 250 GT Spyder-based sports car that
far exceeded the quality and finish of other independent offerings of the time to be used in the 1980's hit movie
"Ferris Bueller's Day Off".
The Modena Design Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder is so exact to the original, Ferrari sued Modena Design and won
a cease and desist order. Therefore, only 32 of these rare beauties were produced making them very rare and highly
collectible.
Unless you have 15 Million Dollars for the real thing, there are no others which compare to the Modena Ferrari 250
GT California Spyder. Modena Design won the hand crafted automobile award the year their spyders were produced!
Further, with the limited production due to the cease and desist order, the values of the Modena Ferrari 250 GT
California Spyders have been rising and will continue to rise. With only 32 made, the Modena Ferrari is highly
sought after, highly collectible and will continue to be a great investment!

Ferrari to reveal California-based 149M on February 12

Mon, 03 Feb 2014

The updated, turbocharged Ferrari California might be the Prancing Horse's worst-kept secret ever. The long-rumored car was spotted testing last summer at the Italian dreammaker's Fiorano test track with the unmistakable whistle of a forced-induction engine, and Ferrari is now teasing the reveal of its "149M Project" on February 12. Because that the original codename for the California was the F149, the new car is almost certainly the refreshed version.
The exact engine under the hood is still a mystery, but it is rumored to be a tuned version of the 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 found in the Maserati Quattroporte with 523 horsepower and 524 pound-feet of torque, an engine that is already a significant upgrade over the 483 hp and 372 lb-ft in the current California. Other reported upgrades suggest there is the possibility of revised exterior pieces to make the new model look more like the F12 Berlinetta, along with an improved interior featuring a more modern infotainment system. As expected, Ferrari has no plans to drop the California's retracting hardtop for the updated model.
While Ferrari will debut the new car on February 12, the public will probably not get its first chance to check out the brand's entry-level sports car until the Geneva Motor Show in March.

LaFerrari, meet YouTube. YouTube, LaFerrari

If, for some reason, you feel like we've left anything out of our coverage of the exciting new LaFerrari unveiled today in Geneva, don't fret - Ferrari has us covered. The automaker has graced us with a total of seven videos of its new hybrid supercar today including the original launch video we already showed you this morning.
The six new videos discuss a broad spectrum of topics, such as LaFerrari's overall architecture, carbon fiber chassis and body, driving dynamics and the 160-horsepower HY-KERS (HYbrid Kinetic Energy Recovery System) part of the powertrain. There is also coverage of today's auto show unveiling and, our favorite, a short video showing the car being tested around the Fiorano Circuit plus some bonus footage of past Ferrari supercars like the GTO, F40, F50 and Enzo.
In total, there is almost 30 minutes of video goodness to bring you just about all the information there is to know about LaFerrari, and all seven videos are posted below.

F1 teams to test titanium skid plates to reignite spark in series

Sun, 22 Jun 2014

The 2014 Formula One season opened with one overwhelming complaint - the cars didn't sound right. It sapped the excitement, despite the fact that this season has seen a number of truly thrilling races (Bahrain, Spain and Montreal all come to mind). Attempts have been made to restore some of the audible thrill of the cars, although efforts have remained unsuccessful.
If F1 can't fix the sound of the cars, then other methods need to be considered to restore its self-perceived lack of excitement. One of those involves fitting titanium skid plates to the cars in a bid to reintroduce the sparks that were so prevalent in the sport's past.
Mercedes-AMG and Ferrari conducted initial experiments with the new skid plates during early practice sessions for the 2014 Austrian Grand Prix. Kimi Raikkonen and Nico Rosberg had the plates fitted to different locations of their cars, in a bid to see which created the most dramatic sparks. Considering the photos the tests, though, neither Mercedes' nor Ferrari's setup really seemed successful, which is why you're seeing Johnny Herbert and his 1989 Benneton B188 up top.
