Passed NJ inspection and sticker is good until 4/2015.

I've owned this van for almost 8 years and it has been fantastic.  It was like my sidekick through many adventures such as buying a leather sleeper sofa on Craigslist (it fit with no problems).  Driving to NJ from Florida then back to Florida then back to NJ; NJ allergies and snow I don't like but my family lives there.  Unfortunately, the time has come when I need something with better gas mileage.  I got around 16-17 mpg in day to day driving and I averaged 22-25 mpg on long trips.  It has great pickup with the larger 4.0 liter engine.  I have repair receipts but here are the main ones over the last 7 years:

-replaced AC condenser
-replaced alternator
-replaced battery
-replaced master brake cylinder
-replaced brakes
-Tires are all good.  I have the receipt from Firestone for all 4.

The body is in great condition except for the back bumper.  All that moving of furniture and stuff took a toll on the plastic.

Now for the stuff I know is not the best.  Just so you know I'm not a mechanic and I don't play one on TV.

-Back bumper has cracked plastic from moving things in and out of the back (see picture)
-It has a Sony multidisk CD changer but after I got a new battery installed it stopped working.  Probably just a power cable but I never got around to getting it fixed.
-Power windows are finicky and do not always work.
-Very back seat is missing (row 3) so it only seats 1-5 instead of 8.
-Engine might need a head gasket repair, I'm not sure.  I saw some smoke and took it to a shop but they did a quicky repair with stuff called K-Seal and it has been running and able to get me around.  I feel fine driving it around the area but I'd get it checked over before a long trip or driving a family somewhere at night.

I think that is it.  I love it but I see a tiny Honda Fit or something similar in my future.  I'm sure I'll have to move something and rent a truck right after I sell it.

2015 Ford Mustang potentially 'leaked' by Car and Driver

Mon, 28 Oct 2013

Few upcoming debuts have been as eagerly anticipated as the all-new Ford Mustang that's expected to debut shortly as the Mustang's 50th anniversary year approaches. Well, Car and Driver magazine would have us wait no longer as it claims to be leaking Ford's new global pony car early.
Of course what you're looking at is just as likely to be a composite rendering based on what C/D projects the new Mustang to look like, but to our eyes it looks spot on. Combining design traits from the Evos Concept with classic Mustang signatures and Ford's Aston-inspired grille treatment, C/D's images - including a complete 360-degree digital navigator - show a Mustang not only for the modern era, but also for global distribution, taking a quintessentially American car to markets its predecessors were never designed for.
Those global considerations are expected to spell the demise of the outgoing Mustang's holdout live rear axle in favor of an independent suspension, and a slight constricting of the exterior dimensions. And thanks to a separate leak, coming from a digital survey, we have apparent confirmation of what will power the new pony car. While the existing 3.7-liter V6 and 5.0-liter V8 engines will apparently carry over with only slight adjustments in output, the survey confirms a new 2.4-liter turbo four will be positioned in between them, offering slightly more power than the V6 but markedly improved fuel economy for a manageable $560 premium over base.

Ford's Explorer-based Police Interceptor to get 365-hp EcoBoost option

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

Speeders beware, the police are going to be getting quite a bit faster. Ford has just announced that it will be offering its 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged, EcoBoost V6 in the Explorer Police Interceptor. The new engine will be joining the existing 3.7-liter V6. The 365-horsepower, 350-pound-foot mill should be familiar to consumers as the powerplant that's found in the Ford Taurus SHO (and its LEO equivalent, the Taurus Police Interceptor) and the Ford Explorer Sport. It should also provide quite a kick in the pants to officers used to the naturally aspirated 3.7 and its 304 ponies and 279 pound-feet of torque.
The move to the more potent powerplant was born out of all the equipment officers need to carry on a day-to-day basis. These days, there's so much stuff that police need on a regular basis, that there's a genuine market for a faster Police Interceptor Utility, as it's known officially. The Explorer-based cruiser has already accounted for 68 percent of Ford's LEO sales in 2013, and that's with just the 3.7, and we'd only expect that number to increase once the twin-turbo, 3.5-liter V6 is available. Ford won't offer up any indication of what the take rate will be on the new engine, but we're guessing it'll be fairly high.
The success of the Explorer PI couldn't have come at a better time for Ford. The decision to end Crown Victoria production was not a popular one with police, and combined with Chevrolet and Dodge diving into the LEO market feet first, Ford hasn't been performing as well as it's wanted to. The Explorer has been helping it turn around, though. And with the inclusion of the EcoBoost, Ford also has a legit competitor for the Chevrolet Tahoe on the big utility side of the police market.

Ford going bonkers at SEMA with 57 showcars

Sat, 19 Oct 2013

Ford always shows up in force at the SEMA Show, but this year's tally of 57 custom-tuned cars, trucks and vans is more than we can ever recall the Blue Oval bringing. Ford will introduce 28 of its project vehicles in its "Dreamcase" ahead of next month's show. The first batch of eight you'll find here with the remaining vehicles trickling into public view over the next couple of weeks.
This first group of cars includes a Fiesta, four Fiesta ST hatchbacks and a trio of Mustang show cars styled and tuned to varying degrees all by different aftermarket companies. Tanner Foust, Nitto Tire, 3dCarbon and Ice Nine Group are some of the more familiar names affixed to these cars. Our favorite so far is the Hollywood Hot Rods Mustang convertible (shown above) with its removable aluminum top and methanol-injected, 750-horsepower 5.0-liter V8.
Scroll down for all the details on these Fiestas and Mustangs, and stay tuned for more info on Ford's SEMA line, which will include custom versions of the Focus ST, Fusion, Transit Connect, F-150 and Super Duty.
