True un-restored and uncut 1966 Ford Bronco Roadster, U13 vin code.  Built in October, 1965.  Bought from original owner's son in 1994 in Charlotte, NC.  75,103 original miles; original engine rebuilt in 1999 but only 1,000 miles since then.  Has been in storage since 2000, driven occasionally until 2006.  Pulled out of storage last month, taken to the mechanic for a complete check-up, and then detailed.

To the best of my knowledge, the Bronco has never been wrecked.  I've certainly never wrecked it and I was told when I bought it, that it had never even been in a fender bender.  The gas tank leaks when full.

New high-quality, custom-made seat covers (front buckets and rear bench) to match the original factory spec vinyl, including gray color (only color available on the '66 models) and texture, installed in 2000.  Not sure if the paint is original (it's not been painted since I've had it) but is in very good condition.  Small, slight bubble rust under paint in one place on front right quarter panel, near bumper.  Slight surface rust on original floor pans; slight surface rust on the original bumpers.  When I say "surface", I mean surface.

Just had all fluids changed, new tires (235/75R15 Goodyear radials), new battery, new brakes, rebuilt master cylinder, new right front brake cylinder, new front axle seals.  My mechanic could not find a new distributor cap or rotor button, so it "bucks" a little on take off.

Less than 5,000 Roadsters were produced by Ford.  How many are still around?  And how many are still around in this condition...uncut, unmolested, and un-restored?  My guess is less than five.

Features:
  • original number-matching 170cid straight 6 engine
  • original 1-barrel carburetor
  • original lock-out hubs (rebuilt 1995) on the 4-wheel drive front axle
  • original oil bath air filter
  • original vacuum windshield wipers
  • original hub caps, plus 4 extra rear caps (unique to '66--not sold on pickups or any other vehicles)
  • original straight-end bumpers (unique to '66 and '67 models)
  • original driver side mirror (unique to early Roadsters, not an after-market one)
  • original "pencil" dash pad, with no cracks (unique to '66 and '67 models)
  • original eyebrow grill (only found on early production '66s)
  • original FOMOCO washer fluid bag
  • original 3-on-the-tree 3.03 manual transmission
  • original long-throw 4-wheel drive transfer case control stick with round ball head (only found on early production '66s)
  • original rubber transfer case boot (unique to '66 models)
  • original rear bench seat, loved by my kids when they were little
  • original black arm rests on rear bench seat (unique to '66 models)
  • original 15-inch wheels, including the spare
  • original rear tail light lenses (no "clear" reverse section; unique to '66 models)
  • original FOMOCO tail hitch
  • original fold-down windshield (hinged to fold flat on top of the hood, with a pin hitch to hold it in place)
  • original skid plate protecting the transfer case
The successful bidder must make a $250 deposit via PayPal within 48 hours of the close of the auction.  Full payment for the vehicle must be made within seven days of the close of the auction.  The vehicle will not be released until payment is received via bank transfer or other means acceptable to the owner.  Sale does not include shipping.  Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements and costs.

I have tried to provide an honest description of this Bronco.  I encourage anyone interested in bidding to view the Bronco in person, it is located in Pine Mountain, GA.  If you have any questions, please let me know prior to bidding.

This Bronco is sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty implied or given.

On Jan-28-13 at 17:47:51 PST, seller added the following information:

To answer a question I received...this Bronco came from the factory without "hard" doors and top.  It came with canvas doors (mounted on metal rod frames) and canvas top.  There are no door hinges, just holes to receive the metal rod frames at the bottom.  The current door frames are original; the canvas doors and canvas top are replacements the original owner did in the 1980's.

I've posted a picture from a few years ago showing the Bronco with the doors off and the top rolled up in the back and on the sided.  I have a picture somewhere of the top completely off but cannot find it right now; if I find it, I'll post it.

First 1K next-gen Mustangs to carry 2014 1/2 model year?

Thu, 18 Jul 2013

A new report from Mustangs Daily, citing insider sources at Ford, tells us that the Blue Oval will produce 1,000 next-generation Mustangs with the model year designation of 2014 ½, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the storied marque. The commemorative half-year designation is a rumor that's been swirling in Mustang forums for quite some time now, and seems more plausible than ever with this most recent report. Certainly it's not far-fetched to believe that Ford will want to make a big deal of the golden anniversary for its most-loved model.
The story (compiled by Drew Phillips, who runs the aforementioned Mustang site when he's not directing the photography on these pages) goes on to say that the limited-run cars will be the first built on the new Mustang platform internally known as S550 (and spied testing in the attached gallery). Each car is said to carry a "special" VIN and build number, though no performance upgrades versus the 2015 cars to follow are in the works. A collector's dream then, rather than a weekend racer's.

Hot Wheels Ford Transit Connect is worth more if we keep it in the box

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

If the 2014 Transit Connect is anything like it's utile current-generation predecessor, and we suspect it is, it will undoubtedly be one of the most functional vehicles in North America. Ford has used the occasion of SEMA to turn the TC in to things that both make use of that functionality, and occasionally sort of wreck it in the name of good old-fashioned fun. The Ford Hot Wheels Transit Connect most certainly falls into that second category.
Most TC owners might cite the vehicle's massive cargo capacity as its top positive trait, though in the case of this wide-bodied Transit said space has been sapped in the name of a 55-inch television screen, a massive Hot Wheels drag strip (continuing a popular theme at SEMA this year) and custom storage for dozens of models from one's personal hot wheels collection. Designers have also plucked the grippy Recaro seats from the Focus ST, and thrown in a pair of 18-inch tablet screens for connectivity on the go.
Naturally, the Transit Connect wouldn't be an appropriate SEMA vehicle, or Hot Wheels name-bearer, if it weren't wearing an eye-popping appearance package. Additional homage to the Focus RS can be found in the blazing blue and orange front fascia and bumpers, while 20-inch wheels make sure the wider (four-inches in front and six-inches in the back) Transit Connect sits just right. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder-engine that powers the Hot Wheels TC ensures that the concept is more show than go, but you probably had that pegged from your first look, anyway.

Ford board pushing Mulally for decision amidst fears story is drowning out other news

Thu, 12 Dec 2013

Automakers and their executives rarely like to divulge information regarding future goings on, but the board of directors at Ford sound like they're getting a little antsy about chief executive officer Alan Mulally and his plans for 2014.
According to Reuters, as news of Mulally's possible departure to Microsoft continues to swirl, Ford's board is looking to push the affable executive to make a decision about his future sooner rather than later. Apparently, the board is growing concerned that this will-he/won't-he drama may end up distracting the media from covering Ford's other big news events next year - items like the debut of key all-new products like the Mustang and F-150.
So far, the picture for Mulally's eventual successor remains fuzzy, but it's understood that the leading candidate remains the company's chief operating officer, Mark Fields. Just recently, we heard that Mulally will stay until the end of 2014, but a few months ago, Ford seemed open to the idea of him stepping down earlier than that.
