1966 Ford Bronco Sport Utility on 2040-cars

Year:1966 Mileage:83000 Color: paint
Location:

Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, United States

This truck is an excellent example of an original 1st year Bronco. The original Bronco, or Early Bronco as it is usually referred to as, was manufactured by Ford from 1966 through 1977. Although the body remained mostly the same over the twelve year period, the 1966 model has several parts exclusive to that model year that make the '66 Bronco the most collectable. This Bronco features all of these parts including: 170 c.i six-cylinder (with only 83K miles), silver-blue seats covers (original material in excellent condition), tail lights without back-up lights, transfer case shifter knob, door & window handles, forward mounted rear shocks, hubcaps & squared off bumpers. The original 1966 Bronco hubcaps & bumpers are very rare and difficult to find when restoring these trucks, as they are not reproduced. This Bronco also features a fold down windshield & removable vent windows. Included with this sale is the original steel hardtop and also a white EZ-Trac soft top. Both tops are in excellent condition. The soft top features removable side & rear tinted windows.

I am the third owner of this Bronco. I have the original owners manual indicting that the 1st owner purchased this truck from Henson Ford, Inc., Clifton Forge, VA in 1966. The second owner brought the Bronco to Harrisburg, PA where it received new exterior paint, but otherwise was left untouched and used very sparingly. I purchased this Bronco approximately eight years ago and completed the following in order to make it an excellent driving and presentable show vehicle:

New rocker panels and tailgate from Dennis Carpenter Ford Parts, repainted front & rear bumpers, degreased, wire brushed and painted underside of truck with Rust Encapsulator chassis paint from Eastwood, degreased and cleaned engine compartment, repainted engine block with correct color Ford Blue using high temperature engine paint from Eastwood, applied all OEM correct engine compartment decals from NPD, installed OEM style carpet kit with stainless trim from the Bronco Graveyard, new side mirror & outside door handles from Dennis Carpenter, new fuel pump, radiator & alternator, new exhaust system from AutoCrafters Inc., new spark plugs, wires, cap & rotor.

Engine compartment and interior retain the factory original paint. The "Paint OK" stamped by Ford during manufacturing in 1966 is still present on top of firewall. Amazingly the seat covers are the original material and they are in excellent condition. Everything works on this truck - all gauges, lights, 4-wheel drive - EVERYTHING!! Tires & brakes are good. It starts right up every time and is ready for summer cruise nights & shows.

NADA classic car guide lists the value of this 1st year Bronco at $14K to $25K. I've seen them sell as low as 1K (rust bucket) and as high as 40K (100 pt. show winner). It all depends on what type of Bronco you are looking for. This Bronco is priced right in the middle and is an excellent example of a well preserved vehicle with little changed from when Ford rolled it off the assembly line almost 50 years ago. It is a great driver and gets lots of attention at shows.

I love this bronco and i am only selling it because I have several other projects and no room to store everything.  This is a great running truck that very hard to find in original factory condition.  AND PLEASE - IF YOU HAVE PLANS TO CUT UP THIS BRONCO & MAKE SOME OFF-ROAD TRAIL TRUCK, KEEP SEARCHING. THIS BRONCO DESERVES TO STAY ORIGINAL!!!!

$500 bank check by US Mail required within three days of auction end.  The Bronco should be picked-up within 2 weeks of auction end.  Final payment accepted in form of bank check or cash only.  No PayPal accepted for deposit or final payment.

Please email, text or call me with questions at 215-892-6610.  I'd be happy to answer any questions about the truck before you bid.

Brits recreate iconic Bullitt chase scene

Tue, 13 May 2014

Recreating the famous chase scene from Bullitt has become almost an art form in its own right. We've seen it done in a music video, with scale models and even in commercials. There are few films that are as defined by a single scene as the 1968 classic. Even if you don't know a single beat of the plot, the Highland Green Ford Mustang racing a Dodge Charger through the hilly streets of San Francisco is famous. It's so well known that the Silverstone Classic has created a homage to promote its celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Mustang at this year's event in July.
Filmed around the famous UK circuit, the short film generally gets the key points of the scene right. It even has a green Volkswagen Beetle that keeps reappearing, as in the movie. Unfortunately, its Steve McQueen stand-in looks a little too old for the role. While the video shortens the chase considerably, it's still great to see these '60s behemoths leaning and sliding around the track. Scroll down for a touch of nostalgia thanks to one of the greatest scenes ever in cinema - we've got both the recreation and the original chase seen from the movie waiting for you.

Ford dealer loses Super Bowl bet, pays $300K to lucky customers [w/video]

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

A Missouri Ford dealership's Super Bowl weekend sale cost it big when the improbable happened. Hutcheson Ford ran a promotion from January 29 to February 1, called the Super Weekend Sale. The gist was, if any customer purchased a vehicle between those dates and either the opening or second-half kickoff of the big game was returned for a touchdown, the dealership would refund the purchase price.
In the dealership's defense, it seemed like a safe bet. According to the mathematicians, there was just a 2.5-percent chance of either half opening with a touchdown return. But that didn't stop Seattle's Percy Harvin from doing his part to ruin Denver's evening, returning the second-half kick for an 87-yard touchdown run. Twelve Hutcheson customers were eligible for refunds thanks to the return, with prices ranging from $10,000 to $55,000, according to Automotive News. The total amount shelled out by the dealership? $300,000.
"At least we're not like that furniture guy that lost $7 million," dealership marketing manager Kathleen Frazier told AN. We think it was a big success." The dealership did take out insurance to cover its losses, meaning the $300K won't come entirely from its pockets.

Ford supports bid for Detroit Rallycross race with Motown-minded Fiesta ST vid

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

As Ford continues its cheerleading effort to help bring the 2014 Summer X Games to its hometown of Detroit, MI, it has released footage of its 2014 Fiesta ST Rallycross car on location at some of the city's well-known landmarks. This video appears to have been shot around the same time as the previous X Games Detroit video was made, but it focuses 100-percent on rally car action.
With Ford Racing driver Andreas Eriksson behind the wheel, this Fiesta ST lays down some serious rubber atop Detroit's Cobo Hall parking structure, at Belle Isle and around the Michigan Central Depot. Detroit isn't alone in the bid for a three-year X Games contract as Chicago, Austin and Charlotte are also hoping to play host. The winning host city is expected to be announced this summer. Scroll down for Ford's two-minute video showing the Fiesta ST Rallycrossing through the Motor City.
