1977 Ford Bronco Project on 2040-cars

Ok guys and girls, here is a really cool Bronco build that I started and just don't have time to finish. This is a '77 which is the last year for the 1st generation Bronco.I bought this one running and driving but over the long last winter I decided to tear into it.The 302 motor runs good and has a brand new James Duff prepped Q-Jet four barrell and aluminum intake. It also has a complete James Duff front and rear suspension including dual shocks, new leaf springs, new coil springs,8 new shocks and stabilizer with an extra if you want to run dual stabilizers. The front differential has been gone through and has Duff urethane mounts and heim joint rod ends. The 3spd transmission has been completely rebuilt with a kit from Wild Horses. Then there is the brand new, never driven on Mickey Thompson bead lock wheels and M/T tires. As for the body it is in pretty good shape. It has a new passenger side 1/4 panel and rocker. The driver's side 1/4 panel is pretty solid and very repairable which is good because nobody seems to make a reproduction with the gas cap doors. The doors are good but I am also including an extra pair of nice doors plus tons of spare parts. The floors have been patched and are very solid but don't look original if that's what you're going for.It comes with a good full hard top and a new bikini top.I also have many brand new trim parts that go with it including all marker, signal and tail-light lenses, body gaskets and seals, custom headlights and a brand new Smitty Built 8000lb winch and remote. All parts pictured are included and I even have a 302 fuel injection unit that also goes with it.This will make a really nice, high dollar Bronco when completed and reserve is far less than what I have in it at this point. To be clear, everything is here and it was running and driving before I started all of this but currently needs a lot of loose ends tied up to be running and driving again. There are many parts and things I have to go with it that I just dont have time to list them all. To sum it up,this will be a great deal for somebody that wants a cool early Bronco and has a little mechanical know-how.Thanks for looking and good luck!

2015 Ford F-150 brings big aluminum to the Rust Belt [w/video]

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

Just when you thought you'd figured the fullsize truck market out, Ford goes and throws us a massive curve ball with the 2015 F-150. The big headline news aren't tow or payload ratings, though we're sure those figures will be fully competitive if not class leading, they haven't yet been announced. Instead, the big headline news Ford is highlighting are the truck's new aluminum-intensive structure and 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine.
And with good reason - all that aluminum means that Ford was able to cut a massive 700 pounds from the truck's curb weight. That is going to cause all sorts of great things to happen to the 2015 F-150's driving dynamics, performance and fuel efficiency, not to mention its ability to haul heavy loads. For those customers worried about the strength of aluminum versus the more conventional steel, Ford is quick to point out that many military vehicles, such as the HMMWV and Bradley Fighting Vehicle, use a very similar sort of aluminum alloy in their construction.
It's also worth mentioning that the backbone, a fully boxed ladder frame, is hewn from high-strength steel. Ford says "2015 Ford F-150 is the strongest and most durable F-150 ever," for what it's worth, claiming that "torture tested" in labs and in the real world for more than 10 million miles. What's more, the truck, in disguised form, completed all 883 miles of the Baja 1000.

Ford sued over alleged 3.5-liter EcoBoost defects

Thu, 16 May 2013

Three Ford owners from Ohio have filed a lawsuit against the automaker over defects that they allege exist within the company's twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine. Automotive News reports that the lawsuit claims the engine "contained serious latent design, manufacturing, or assembly defects." Those defects, the suit claims, cause the vehicle to shake, misfire and lose power quickly.
Two of the plaintiffs, a married couple, own a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, and allege they experienced a loss of power and stalling, while the third, an F-150 owner, claims he lost power while accelerating. In addition to the Taurus SHO and F-150, the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine is also available in the Ford Flex, Explorer Sport and Lincoln MKT and MKS. Other three- and four-cylinder EcoBoost engines are not included in the suit. There have been no recalls associated with 3.5-liter V6 engine, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is currently not investigating the matter.
The plaintiffs, however, claim Ford has known about the problem, citing several technical service bulletins issued to dealers of the F-150 that suggest possible fixes. Ford had no comment for Automotive News, saying that it's yet to review the lawsuit, which was filed last Friday in Columbus, OH.

Are you Ford's next Bullitt Mustang? [w/poll]

Thu, 27 Mar 2014

Ford has a long history of offering special editions of its legendary Mustang. One of the most vaunted of those trim packages, though, has only been offered twice. The first time was in 2001, and then again in 2008. Yes, we're talking about the Bullitt.
Named for the infamous Dark Highland Green Mustang Fastback driven by Steve McQueen in the 1968 cop melodrama Bullitt, the car was famous for not just its pilot, but the high-speed chase it took part in during the movie. Now, we think we have images of the next Bullitt.
According to our spy photographers, the paint is a "dead-ringer" for the Dark Highland Green that has signified these special edition Mustangs. While we're inclined to agree, it's also worth pointing out that this shade looks very similar to one of the 2015's other new colors, Guard. We've yet to see one on the road (let alone in such dreary conditions), so it's tough to say for certain.
