1989 Fullsize Ford Bronco W/ Pop-up Camper on 2040-cars

Manitou Springs, Colorado, United States

1989 Ford Bronco, fullsize, 4 wheel drive, XLT trim, with a 1994 Lite Craft popup camper built into the rear. May be removable, I would not want to do it. But if you buy it, you can try. Lite Craft used to exist in  Wheat Ridge, Colorado. The Bronco is 25 years old so it has dings and dents and little issues. None which prevent it from driving down the road. It is the 302, fuel injected V8, with automatic transmission. It has self locking hubs and push button 4 wheel drive. I have been told you can convert it back to manual hubs, manual transfer case. I don't know so it is what it is.  Also been told it is a Mustang motor so all their performance options work as well. It is all stock. It has two seats, Captains chairs in good shape. That's it. Not a Family car. I have service records going back to 2007. Will be included in sale. Has a Class 3 hitch, and a winch mount bumper. No winch. No hitch. Transmission was rebuilt at 112.xxx, transfer case at 114,xxx. Has new injectors and new exhuast manifolds. A/C has always been serviced. A new radiator, hoses, water pump, cap.  Does leak some oil, does leak some ATF. Needs gaskets. The camper is in good shape, no rips or tears in popup fabric, has some tears in insulation but nothing bad. Is the winter package. Has a 3 way fridge, heater, sink, cooktop. Outside shower. No toilet or stool. Queen bed over cab. Dinette makes small bed as well. All the screens are good, so are the window coverings. For it's age it is in great shape. It is being sold "AS IS, WHERE IS". If you want it, you come get it. Can help, meeting a transporter, but all shipping costs are yours.  I just wanted to add a note: I will not seperate them. I know everyone just wants the camper for their own awesome Bronco but if that's what you want, you still have to buy the whole thing. What you do with it once you own it is totally up to you. Thanks for you interest.

Ford and Chrysler reducing summer plant shutdowns

Wed, 22 May 2013

Most domestic automaker assembly plants traditionally take a couple of weeks off during the summer. The shutdowns give each plant time for much needed repairs and maintenance, and in some cases, help better align production with demand. Not this year, though, as demand for many models is outstripping what Ford, Chrysler and General Motors plants can produce.
Ford has announced that it will shorten its annual summer shutdown for most North American plants from two weeks to one. The shorter shutdown will increase the carmaker's annual North American production by 40,000 units on top of the 200,000 extra units that it was already planning to produce this year versus last. Automotive News reports that Ford produced 2.8 million vehicles on this continent in 2012, and that output this year has already increased 13 percent through April.
Chrysler, meanwhile, is also operating at full tilt and plans to run some plants through the summer with no shutdown at all. Those not getting a break include Jefferson North where the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are assembled, Toledo North that will assemble the new Cherokee, and Conner Avenue, home of SRT Viper production. Other assembly plants will be down for a single week, while all of Chrysler's engine and transmission plants except one in Indiana will continue operating with no shutdown this summer.

Ford reports $3B profit in Q4, $6.9B for the year

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

Good news out of Dearborn today, as Ford announced $3 billion in profit for the last quarter of 2013, a 90-percent increase over the same period of 2012. Net income for all of last year, meanwhile, jumped to $7.2 billion from $5.7 billion in 2012, while pre-tax profits sat at a decade-topping $6.9 billion for all of 2013.
The results of the substantial profit increases are bigger profit-sharing checks for UAW employees. How big? A record $8,800 on average for 47,000 UAW workers, making 2013 the biggest year for profit sharing in Ford history. In total, $414 million will be paid as part of the profit-sharing scheme.
Now, it should be pointed out that a fair portion of Ford's Q4 profits were due to tax benefits, totaling $2.1 billion, according to Automotive News. Total profits would have also been higher, had there not been a significant recall on the Escape, as well as plant issues in South America.

Ken Block ain't got a care about ruining his wheels

Tue, 22 Jan 2013

During a drifting session at Irwindale Speedway in California, Ken Block made a boo-boo that would send a number of drivers immediately back to the infield. But there's an answer to "What do you do when you bash the wall while drifting and your wheel explodes?" and there's completely different answer when the question begins with the phrase, "When you're Ken Block..."
Instead of us telling you how Block handled the calamity in his Ford Fiesta competition car, you can watch it happen in the video below. You can probably also guess what it is - but it's more fun to watch.
