I have owned this vehicle for about a year and have replaced the rear window motor, refurbished the tailgate, replaced the instrument panel bezel, dash and door trims, new seat covers (Basic), premium heavy duty floor mats, all new (4) pioneer speakers with a sony cd, mp3 stereo with iPod controls and remote. added an anti-theft alarm system installed by Best Buy locally. added running boards, upgraded the headlight bulbs for  brighter lights. first thing replaced was the air conditioning system which blows ice cold air for the summer. This vehicle also has the removable top for summer fun. Everything works as it should, all lights and options work including the automatic rear window, and tailgate. 4x4 works flawless. interior is in great condition for a vehicle this age. power windows work great, tilt steering dome lights, decent carpeting and headliner. (headliner has two small holes, one in the rear and one in the back, shown in photos).

This vehicle has the typical Iowa rust around the wheel wells and tailgate (see photos). Tire thread is in good condition but not new and will need replaced if doing alot of off road. Full size spare tire and jack included. overhead console readout works great during warm weather but takes a few minutes for the display to light up during cold weather. this vehicle does not overheat or burn excessive fuel, the engine runs great and is very, very strong. regular tune up done and was/is only used during the winter since we have a summer car. This vehicle has never been smoked in, and drives great. THIS IS A VERY RELIABLE CAR.

Bottom line: 20 year old truck that works very, very good for a daily driver at a decent price.  The biggest flaw is the Iowa rust typical on these trucks. I am asking $4,200.00 or Best Offer. This truck is also listed locally for sale and will end auction upon a local sale.

Jay Leno's Garage goes eco with Ricardo HyBoost

Mon, 17 Mar 2014

"Now before you turn away, this is not another boring hybrid car thing..." Despite the slightly defensive introduction from Jay, the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage is actually pretty fascinating. The Ricardo HyBoost is a 2009 Ford Focus that has had a 1.1-liter engine swapped in for the stock 2.0-liter four. That might not get you performance enthusiasts out there fired up, until, that is, you hear that the 1.1L is also fed by both a turbocharger and an electrically driven supercharger for an instant-on "torque-fill" effect. Sounds about right, considering that Ricardo engineering is part of the genius behind the McLaren P1.
Perhaps most exciting of all, the Ricardo folks say that the package should run somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,100. A sort of performance-hybrid that makes sense for the frugal driver and the enthusiast one, then. There's a lot more to the HyBoost, all of which can be seen in the video below.

Ford picks Fiesta ST, Transit Connect as this year's SEMA darlings

Sat, 02 Feb 2013

SEMA is more than nine months away, but the reveille bugle for the show has just sounded with Ford's call to aftermarket companies for its project-vehicle program. The 2014 Ford Fiesta ST and 2014 Transit Connect van and wagon are the cars The Blue Oval wants to feature, but applicants can submit project vehicles for any product except the GT500, the Raptor, or anything from Lincoln.
Submissions must be completed in two parts, the first being an email to Ford with an overview of the project, like vehicle theme, promotional plan and location display. The second part must be mailed in on company letterhead and gets down to the nuts and bolts of the vision and the provision of company bona fides. The complete proposal is due on March 1, winners will be notified by May 1. Click the link below to get all the details, and for show attendees, get ready to see some funky Fiestas and wild shaggin' wagons in Las Vegas come November.

Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.
