I am letting go of  my 1996 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer with Fisher 7.5' plow since I no longer need to worry about snow removal and I am a bit short on space in the yard. The truck has 129,000 miles is 4x4 and has the 5.8L V8 and is the Eddie Bauer package. The truck runs strong, shifts solid, starts and goes all the time. It never broke down in a snow storm and plowed the recent blizzard without breaking a sweat. I originally bought the truck to replace a severely aged 1980 F-150 and given that it was in good condition it also has every heavy duty option Ford had available and most luxury options too. It has the tow package with the heavy duty radiator, tranny cooler, 3.73 limited slip rear end, heavy duty front end with quad shocks, and the E40D tranny the same one behind the Powerstoke diesel. Inside it has leather seats, power windows, cruise, AC that blows ice cold, overhead console with temp gage, and rear swing out spare tire bracket. The truck is solid, the floors and chassis are solid, no rot just a little surface rust in places. The only rust is on the exterior fender as can be seen in the pictures in all the typical Bronco locations. This can be fixed easily at this point and you could have a rust free truck no problem. I have done a lot of work to the truck over the past couple of years to keep it in top running shape. I have replaced just about every front end component including ball, joints, tie rods, bushings, shocks, front axle joints, brakes and calipers. The transfer case has been rebuilt, new manual hubs for reliability, new oil pan, front and rear drive shaft universal joints, new rear diff cover, new 850CCA battery, thermostat, and rear brake lines. I also did a tune up last year with new plugs, wires and rotor, filters the whole deal. The items that don't work on the truck is the rear defroster sine I had to replace the rear window glass, the key switch to raise and lower the rear window from the out side and I lost the keyless entry fob when the alarm when haywire and I removed it. The plow is a fisher conventional mount setup with all the engine driven hydraulics. It works great no problems with it and although they can be a bit more cumbersome to put on and off they are reliable and much less prone freeze ups and electrical gremlins. All the hoses on the plow and blade are only two years old and the rams all work fine. I have an extra pump, lift cylinder and control valve manifold available that can possibly go with the truck. The plow blade has a custom back drag blade that works great for tight areas and the plow is solid with no rot. I have lost of picture of the truck and plow, more than can be posted here so if you contact me I can send photos of the truck and in specific areas you request. They go together I am not separating, too much work. If you interested please call me and if you are local come and look the truck over before bidding. I can deliver up to 150 miles if necessary if you are willing to pay for fuel or hook the plow and drive it home.

Ford owns Automotive Loyalty Awards, Audi and Subaru are king of conquests

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

Customers are a commodity in the automotive industry, and like any other commodity, automakers trade them back and forth. Only nobody wants to give up their customers - just to keep the ones they have and try to attract others.
That's what the Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards are all about. Every year the industry research body names the automakers, brands and models that manage to keep their customers coming back for more - and attract buyers to switch from other makes. Ford usually does pretty well, but this year it rose above even its own track record.
Not only did Dearborn win the Overall Loyalty to Manufacturer award, but also the Overall Loyalty to Make. Ford also took the African American category, and the F-150 was named the top full-size half-ton pickup in customer loyalty. Ford COO Mark Fields (pictured above) accepted the awards and gave the keynote address at the awards ceremony.

Mysterious small Ford spied in Germany

Sat, 29 Jun 2013

Our spy photographers have just popped off a few shots of something curious. This little runabout was spotted in Germany out testing with a current-generation Ford Fiesta. We're fairly confident the machine is a Ford, but exactly which Ford model is up for debate. The hatchback could be the next-generation Ka, but we've also heard that the Blue Oval supermini might not get a replacement. Our shooter says the five-door is a bit smaller than the current Fiesta, though there is a chance that this rig is just an engineering mule for drivetrain development. Then again, it could be a model built specifically for the South African market or China, or not a Ford at all.
Whatever it is and wherever it's headed, you can check out in the gallery for a closer look before heading into Comments to weigh in with your best guess.

Report: GM struggling to market turbo technology

Tue, 20 Apr 2010

In the automotive realm, marketing can sometimes prove just as important as the actual product. Take, for instance, Ford's well regarded EcoBoost technology, which couples turbocharging with direct injection to produce more horsepower and reduce fuel consumption. Would it surprise you to hear that General Motors has had similar technology on the market for over three years?
It's true. GM's first turbocharged, direct injected powerplants hit the market for the 2007 model. The 2.0-liter Ecotec mills put down an impressive 260 horsepower and a matching 260 pound-feet of torque, and they were lauded by the press in the engine bays of the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, Chevrolet Cobalt SS and Chevrolet HHR SS. But few people outside a core group of enthusiasts actually remember this fact.
Says Uwe Grebe, executive director of GM's global advanced engineering, "We didn't have a badge and say, 'This is the most important thing we will put on all our brochures.'" Ford, however, did just that, and it's EcoBoost engines are right at the tips of all our tongues when we discuss today's most advanced powerplants. So, how does The General fix its mistake?
