1981 Ford LTD Crown Victoria. 67,500 original miles. Two previous elderly owners took exceptional care of this vehicle. It appears to have been garage kept and pampered for most of its life. This car was purchased outside of Denver, Co. with almost every option available for the year. Ford's time tested, wonderful 5.0 V-8 engine w/overdrive transmission makes this an amazing road car. Good on gas, safe, reliable, very drivable. Brand spanking new Bridgestone tires. Fresh lube/oil/filters. Professional wax job this summer. The best of both worlds, having a classic old car look, but with modern amenities like auto lamps, cruise control, lighted entry, traction control, and power everything. Original paint, vinyl top, and interior. Everything works with the exception of the A/C. May just be a recharge. The compressor turns on/off and operates freely, but does not blow cold. These cars are hard to find with such low mileage in this condition. Almost like stepping back in time to 1981! I really wish I could keep it but I have too many cars and have to start downsizing.  I have had this car titled and licensed as a classic (vintage vehicle) and registered for almost 2 years. As with any car, this one being 32 years old, there are some minor flaws like fading, and normal wear. But NO RUST!~ The dash has some sun fading, and some cracks, but is covered with a nice dash pad. The paint is thick and waxes up like new. It is, however, not showroom... but in very nice condition throughout. Car runs and drives perfectly! I have described this vehicle accurately and to the best of my knowledge. Please feel free to email me for more information, including my phone number if you wish to speak to me in person about this vehicle. If you have 0 feedback your bid will not be accepted without talking to me first. Bidders please bid with confidence. I have set a very fair reserve for this amazing car. A nice opportunity to own a great classic, and rare '80's car for very little money. I can assist on shipping as far as recommends, but buyer is responsible for all shipping cost's and is bound by all other Ebay rules that accompany this auction. Thanks and Good Luck!

Ford dinged by OSHA for asbestos at Buffalo plant

Sat, 20 Jul 2013

Ford has come under fire from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for violations regarding asbestos exposure in a company metal stamping plant in Buffalo, NY. OSHA has cited Ford for eight violations in total, according to an Automotive News report, and faces fines of up to $41,800. 537 workers are employed at the stamping facility.
The violations include a pipefitter at the facility being exposed to asbestos-containing material while working on a steam line, other workers exposed to the material without respiratory protection and work areas that were not designed to limited the number of workers in contact with asbestos. Further, areas in which asbestos was present were not properly restricted, and levels of asbestos in the air were not monitored.
According to an unnamed Ford spokesperson in the AN report, the company feels that the OSHA citation is erroneous saying, "We have fully cooperated with the local OSHA officials and we don't believe the citations are warranted." Ford also maintains that it will work with the authorities to resolve the issue.

Ford bringing 10 custom Transit Connects to SEMA

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

With 57 vehicles planned for its SEMA display, it comes as little surprise that Ford has plenty of teasers for its show cars. After showing us what it has in store for the Mustang, Fiesta and Focus ST, now we're getting a look at some of the custom creations based on the redesigned 2014 Transit Connect van.
These nine Transit Connects are decked out to various degrees of customization, but our favorite might be the chopped and lowered Transit Connect from Mob Steel (shown above), which has a similar slammed stance that we see on some custom VW Buses. On the opposite extreme, LGE & CTS Motorsports has jacked up a Transit Connect to make a Cross Country cruiser that we wouldn't mind taking on a road trip.
There are seven other teasers from various companies, and you can check them all out in the gallery above or in the press release below. Ford is also promising a tenth Transit Connect for SEMA, so stay tuned for that as well.

Bill Ford op-ed argues we can't just build and sell more of the same cars

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

It's hardly a secret that the auto industry is undergoing an enormous, tectonic shift in the way it thinks, builds cars and does business. Between alternative forms of energy, a renewed focus on low curb weights and aerodynamic bodies, the advent of driverless and autonomous cars and the need to reduce the our impact on the environment, it's very likely that the car that's built 10 years down the line will be scarcely recognizable when parked next to the car from 10 years ago.
Few people are as able to explain the industry's many upcoming changes and challenges as clearly as William Clay Ford, Jr., better known as Bill Ford. The 57-year-old currently sits as the executive chairman of the company his great-grandfather, Henry Ford, founded over 110 years ago.
In an op-ed piece in The Wall Street Journal (subscription required), Ford explains that the role of automakers is, necessarily, going to change to suit the needs of the future world. That means changing the view of not just the automobile, but the automaker. As Ford explains it, automakers will "move from being just car and truck manufacturers to become personal-mobility companies."
