2007 Ford Escape Hybrid Sport Utility 4-door 2.3l - Loaded, No Reserve As-is on 2040-cars
Raymond, Mississippi, United States
Up for auction is our 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid. She has been a wonderful car for our family, but now needs some work and we don't have anyone locally who has the equipment to do it. We haven't had any trouble with the car until about 2 months ago when we received a "STOP SAFELY NOW" message on the console. We had the car towed to the dealer who told us that the battery needs replacing and quoted us about $6000. We had it towed to our local independent mechanic who is certified for Hybrid work and had him install a used battery that we purchased here on ebay from a wrecked Escape. Unfortunately, the new (used) battery we purchased had lost its charge and the car still wouldn't crank. Doing some research on the car, it appears that the car won't crank if the Hybrid battery is at less than 30% of its charge. We don't have any way to charge the battery here, so it's time to sell. We did receive a quote of $2,500 to have the battery reconditioned at a Hybrid specialist in Dallas. It's just too far for us to take it. If you have access to a mechanic with a High Voltage Hybrid battery charger, this could be your auction. I will include the original battery that we took out, as well as the replacement we had installed. Since your mechanic will need access to the battery and HV components, I will leave the rear cargo trim covers unattached.
We are the original owners and have kept the car in a garage. The car is loaded with every available option we could add: Leather interior, Nav package with CD Changer, Power Moonroof, Heated Seats, 6 Way Power Driver Seat, Roof Rack, Rear Camera. The car has received all regular maintenance and oil changes with premium synthetic oil. The leather interior is in fair condition, with some wear to the front seats (see photos). The back seats are in good shape as they were covered with a car seat mat. There are a few small spots on the carpet and one faint spot on the headliner above the back seat. The glass is all good. The tires are pretty new (less than one year) and are in good condition. The paint has a few rubbed spots on the doors but is generally good. There are a couple of very small dings on the hood and quarter panel. The car has lived in the South and hasn't seen road salt; there's no rust anywhere on the car. The car has never been in a wreck or had flood damage. The navigation monitor has a bad spot in it that doesn't affect functionality (it's about the size of an eraser). The car was getting an average of 32 MPG on regular commute driving. We are non-smokers. I will be happy to help you arrange shipping or you can come here and load it on your trailer. $400 Deposit is due via Paypal within 3 days. The remainder can be paid via Cash, Bank Wire or Certified Check. The title is clean, in-hand, and current. |

Hurricane Sandy cost automakers 15,000 vehicles, may have ruined up to 200k
Wed, 07 Nov 2012Hurricane Sandy was the largest Atlantic storm in US history, and its total economic impact is just now coming into view. According to Automotive News, Toyota, Chrysler, Nissan and Honda are set to scrap around 15,000 new vehicles ruined by the storm. Nissan alone accounts for about 40 percent of those, with 6,000 Nissan and Infiniti models deeded "un-saleable" due to damage. The company saw 56 dealerships shuttered due to the storm, but 51 of those have since reopened.
Toyota, meanwhile, had some 4,000 vehicles at its Newark port facility, and of those, 3,000 may be scrapped. An additional 825 were dealer inventory when they were ruined. Honda and Acura dealers are reportedly sending 3,440 vehicles to the salvage yard. By comparison, Chrysler weathered the storm fairly well with 825 units destroyed, while Hyundai suffered only 400 lost units and Kia scrapped around 200.
As you may recall, Fisker also suffered some losses, and Automotive News reports the manufacturer saw 320 Karma models damaged beyond repair. Ford and General Motors have yet to come up with estimates, and no automaker has commented on the full cost of replacing the vehicles.
Ford F-250 boots Cadillac Escalade from atop thieves' most-wanted list
Tue, 09 Jul 2013The Ford F-Series has been America's best-selling truck for decades, but along with the good comes the bad, apparently. In addition to being popular with consumers, the Highway Loss Data Institute notes that the F-Series Super Duty has risen in popularity among thieves. Based on its new study, the four-wheel drive crew cab F-250 Super Duty has topped the list for the country's highest rate of insurance theft claims, knocking the Cadillac Escalade from the top spot - a distinction the luxury SUV has held since this annual report was first established in 2003.
To reach its findings, HLDI looks at theft data from the previous three model years (in this case 2010-2012) to determine the frequency of claims for a particular make and mode,l as well as the average payment per claim. As the report points out, the claims aren't always for the theft of the entire vehicle - they can include components (say, wheels and tires) or property taken from the vehicle. At seven claims per 1,000 insured vehicles, the F-250 is six times more likely to suffer a theft claim than the average vehicle.
The Cadillac likely dropped from the top of the list to sixth due to additional theft-prevention features including a steering wheel lock and inclination sensor for the alarm, but GM's other fullsize trucks and SUVs still occupy eight of the list's 10 spots. Some of the least stolen vehicles with below-average loss payments include the Lexus HS250h, Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and Dodge Journey. Head on over to the HLDI's website for the full list that shows the most and least popular vehicles among thieves from 2010 through 2012.
PickupTrucks.com's latest test results in a familiar winner [w/video]
Wed, 19 Jun 2013PickupTrucks.com has gone and thrown the latest batch of half-ton pickups into a cage match to see who would come out on top. The site put the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2013 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan through a battery of tests. Those included 0-60 miles per hour acceleration, 60-0 mph deceleration, fuel economy, a hill climb, and payload and towing. They even threw the rigs on an autocross course to evaluate overall handling. Each truck was given points based on how it scored in each evaluation.
Who came out on top? Somewhat surprisingly, the 2013 Ford F-150 walked away with the gold, though fewer than 50 points separated first and fourth place. Head over to PickupTrucks.com to read the full evaluation and the final results. You may be shocked to see exactly where some of the segment's newest additions placed. You can also watch a video on the test below.
