2003 Ford Excursion Limited, V10, Lifted 37s on 2040-cars
Harvest, Alabama, United States
This is my ONE owner Excursion with less than 80k miles. I purchased it in Alabama and have lived here the entire time. Everything works as it should, nothing needs to be fixed. Rear passenger brake caliper has slow seep from banjo bolt. Recent 2500 mile trip resulted in loss of a couple ounces tops. Haven't bothered doing anything to it. No leaks elsewhere. This vehicle has been well maintained. Oil changes every 2500-3500 miles with Motorcraft 5w-20. All other fluids have been changed at least once. New fuel filter twice. New Battery in 2013. The rear expansion valve was replaced in early 2012 and AC system was recharged. Both front and rear systems work perfectly. Brakes have never been changed and probably could be but they stop well and make no noise at this moment. The truck was lifted in 2004 and 35s were installed. The rear end was changed in 2009 from 3.73s to 4.56s. Mileage dropped a little but acceleration improved and made it more fun to drive. Gears were broken in for 500 miles and the fluid was changed and tolerances checked. No noise nor problems. I had a flat tire and changed the rears to used 37s, but the front are still 35s. It is 2WD so tire difference is not an issue. Then I got new tires all around, still 35s in front and 37s in rear. 37s will not clear in front without cutting or more lift. Tires have less than 10k miles. Truck has a 5gal air tank, pump and Triple Horn Train Horns. Horn is switched with stock horn operated by OEM horn switch. OEM radio has been removed and everything upgraded. Polk separates and an Orion (old school) sub installed. The HCCA amp got tired and an Alpine was installed but the Orion SX still powers the rest of speakers. In dash DVD with rear AV IN/out is also installed for Game Systems or more Monitors. It also has a 400W inverter installed near amps for power to monitors and game systems. I changed all 10 plugs and boots before it hit 70k. Didn't change COPs but rotated the back 2 as they see more heat and fail first. Might help prevent that issue. Truck was involved in a minor crash on April Fools day (in 2005 I think) where someone idles into the rear bumper. Damage was less than $500 and it was never repaired. Can barely see little dent in drivers rear bumper near reverse sensor. No other accidents. All reverse sensors work and has receiver installed as all of them do. I have a hitch mounted spare carrier and a spare 35" tire. I have a couple spare 37s if wanted as well, no extra rims. One rim has damage from the flat but is only cosmetic. A run away shopping cart or something hit passenger door. No abrasion to paint but has a small dent/imperfection. Has only one door ding as it is never parked near other vehicles without taking 2 spots. Ding is standard door ding and located near fuel fill door. It has a Flowmaster Super 40 single in dual out muffler with dual 5" tips. Carpet has always been covered with mats and is close to new. No mods to engine or trans. Most of the standard black plastic has been covered with Line X. Running boards, grill guard, lower front valance, rear lift glass plastic and wiper, rear plastic bumper cover. It could use a refresh as is not perfect, but better than grey. Windows tinted all around. I might have forgotten something but listed all the bad. Truck gets driven rarely so mileage will increase. I use it mainly as a travel vehicle and will drive it anywhere without worry. In 2013 we drove it to SD twice and to FL once. Can help with delivery for price of gas and return flight if needed. Excursion gets a consistent 10-11 mpg in the city and 12-14 on the road. You may get a little better on the road as I always set cruise at 9 over. Was forced to do 60mph for about 100 miles and it returned almost 16mpgs. I can take any pics you need, just ask. I might have left something out so ask away. |

Watch this awesome R/C car chase scene made with cardboard and glue
Fri, 22 Feb 2013It never ceases to amaze us how much video production talent you can find on YouTube, especially when considering movies like Battleship actually exist on the silver screen. It's even better, of course, when cars are involved, which is why we can't stop watching this car chase between a pair of radio controlled Ford Mustangs.
Racing through a detailed set built in the middle of a public street using just "cardboard, hot glue and spray paint," this video is possibly even greater than The Greatest R/C Car Chase Ever that we saw last year. With the exception of a fruit stand and/or a plate-glass window being carried across the street, this has all the makings of a classic cliché chase scene.
Scroll down to watch the scaled-down action ensue as well as the full-scale conclusion.
First 1K next-gen Mustangs to carry 2014 1/2 model year?
Thu, 18 Jul 2013A new report from Mustangs Daily, citing insider sources at Ford, tells us that the Blue Oval will produce 1,000 next-generation Mustangs with the model year designation of 2014 ½, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the storied marque. The commemorative half-year designation is a rumor that's been swirling in Mustang forums for quite some time now, and seems more plausible than ever with this most recent report. Certainly it's not far-fetched to believe that Ford will want to make a big deal of the golden anniversary for its most-loved model.
The story (compiled by Drew Phillips, who runs the aforementioned Mustang site when he's not directing the photography on these pages) goes on to say that the limited-run cars will be the first built on the new Mustang platform internally known as S550 (and spied testing in the attached gallery). Each car is said to carry a "special" VIN and build number, though no performance upgrades versus the 2015 cars to follow are in the works. A collector's dream then, rather than a weekend racer's.
Ford recalls select Explorer, E-Series vans
Tue, 21 Jan 2014Just a few days ago we brought you news that Ford had issued a recall on 28,000 units of the Edge crossover for problems related to the fuel line. But now the Blue Oval has issued recall notices on two more of its larger vehicles.
The first relates to the Explorer, 395 examples of which from the 2011 and 2012 model years were found to have problems with their steering systems if they underwent service after September 1, 2013. An apparent software glitch could lock the steering gear, preventing the driver from steering the vehicle and thereby increasing the risk of a crash. As a result, Ford dealers are being instructed to check their records to identify the problematic vehicles and bring them in to have the steering gear replaced. Details of the recall can be found in the PDF linked here.
The second problem revolves around E-Series vans that may develop bubbles in their windshields under hot temperatures. The decrease in visibility through the problematic windshield could - you guessed it - "increase the risk of a crash." As a result, Ford is calling in 4,532 units of the E-150, E-250, E-350 and E-450 vans built in the relatively short window between May 12 and May 26, 2011. Details of this recall can be found in the notice below from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
