FLATHEAD V8

For Sale is the BROOKS MOTOR COMPANY shop truck.  We used this truck for parades and local car shows, or benefits.  Its a great old truck, very original, and can be driven daily.  It was restored approx 7 years ago.  When we put it together, we wanted it to look as if in where still in the 50s.  So its not show perfect paint or body lines as they where not during production.  This truck is an excellent example of a 1953 F100.  It captures the eyes of everyone where ever it is driven.  The truck features Satin black paint, with distressed classic pinstripes dated 1962 EZ ED, and its running on Coker Classic White walls.  The F100 is pretty original with the exception of a 4" front drop axle, and a leaf spring removed from the rear end.  The electrical system has been changed over to 12 volt.  The truck has original steering and brakes, so it does drive like a 1953 F100.  the brakes are good, and the steering has normal play.  If you like old trucks, your going to be happy to own this one.

BROOKS MOTOR COMPANY has 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK, and we strive to keep this as it is important to do business with people you can trust.  WE ALSO HAVE A AAA RATING WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.   If you have any questions, don't email me, but pick up the phone and call 618-939-9828.  I will be happy to discuss the truck with you.  Our store web address is brooksmotorcodotcom  (dot .)

Because of the age, the truck is sold as/is with no implied warranty.  I guarantee the truck to run and drive as I have stated, but once you own it, its yours.

We accept a $500 deposit via PayPal, and the balance to be paid NO MORE THAN 7 DAYS after the auction has ended.  If you cannot pick it up in this time, NO PROBLEM, we will store it for you for a few days, after that, it will go into storage units for a $78 per month fee.  If you have not fulfilled your end of the bargain and paid for the truck in the listed timely manner, it will go back up for auction.  This truck is also for sale locally, and can be sold if the truck has not met reserve.  If you want this truck call us, or click BUY IT NOW.  Thank you, I look forward to meeting you and doing business.  Bob Brooks

Thieves still love older Hondas and pickups most, says NICB [w/video]

Wed, 20 Aug 2014

No one wants to have their car stolen, but a new study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau has some bad news for older Honda owners and pickup drivers. Fortunately, it has better news for drivers overall. The group is reporting that according to preliminary data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, thefts were down 3.2 percent in 2013 (versus 2012) to fewer than 700,000 cars. That's the lowest figure since 1967. That's also less than half of the peak of over 1.66 million thefts in 1991. "The drop in thefts is good news for all of us," says NICB President and CEO Joe Wehrle. "But it still amounts to a vehicle being stolen every 45 seconds and losses of over $4 billion a year."
Honda drivers might not find it such good news with older Accord and Civic models topping this year's theft study. Toyota and Dodge can't really celebrate, either, with two models each on the list, as well. Overall, this year's list was split evenly between foreign and domestic models, which were mostly pickups.
The 10 most likely vehicles to be stolen in 2013 were:

China takes lead as GM's No. 1 market

Tue, 09 Jul 2013

It's happened. General Motors' biggest vehicle market - at least in terms of new model sales - is China. According to TheDetroitBureau.com, GM and its various Chinese joint venture operations enjoyed a 10.6-percent sales increase in the first half of 2013, selling almost 1.6 million units in the market. That puts GM China about 200,000 units ahead of its US sales totals over the same period - this, despite indicators that the communist nation's economy is losing momentum.
TDB notes that like GM, rival Ford has also enjoyed a robust 2013 in China thus far, with its sales up a whopping 47 percent to 407,721 units sold - 75,254 of them in June alone. Between the two US automakers, passenger car sales for the first half of 2013 are up around 14 percent, well ahead of the rest of the industry's 10-percent growth estimates for the market. Some of the sales growth may come as a result of an overall anti-Japan sentiment in China, though the American brands have long outsold their Japanese counterparts in the country.
By The General's own predictions, China will only continue to grow in sales importance. The company has designs on selling over five million cars a year in the market before the end of the decade, a total that figures to dramatically widen the gap versus its US totals - even if America's auto market makes a full recovery to the the salad days of over 17-million units a year.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has a bit of a dyno issue

Tue, 28 May 2013

We're of the mind that each and every dyno should come with Murphy's Law painted in big, visible letters down the side. For every ten successful dyno runs out there, it seems there's one where events to horribly wrong. Take, for example, the video below. The clip shows what happens when a Ford Shelby GT500 and a mobile dyno have a bit of a disagreement at the Performance Expo 24 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. We won't spoil the results for you, but we will say there's some substantial carnage involved.
It's unclear just how much damage ensues from the dust up or whether anyone was harmed in the incident, but from the looks of things, everyone made it out without serious injury. If only we could say the same for the machines involved. Check out the video below.
