for sale is my 1979 ford f-100. now to answer the #1 question of the day...why am I starting it for so little?... The truck was purchased for work, I am a carpenter, and my former partner, whom the truck was purchased for, has moved back out West, to help his mother who is rapidly losing her vision. Before leaving he (who claimed to be a good mechanic) removed the engine, and it was rebuilt. After words he started putting the engine compartment back together, but is still apart... radiator hoses, exhaust system, power steering pump, and probably more. I say probably more, because once again I am a carpenter, and not a mechanic. Before he completed the work on the truck, the plan was to finish the work on the truck, and then for him to leave. I was going to give the truck to him, but we had a falling out, and he left our partnership under bad terms, and the truck incomplete. Now after sitting around for a little over 6 months, I do not really know what to do with it. I have already spent more money on it than I had planned, and refuse to spend another dime on it! I have a great truck, and every time I look at this one, it just brings up bad memories. I can only compare this feeling, to having an ex-girlfriend as a roommate! I know very little about these trucks, only what I have been told. I do know these things,...The 351 is what is known as a modified, manual brakes(no power assist), but has front disc brakes. Was told the frame is in good shape...apparently when this model has frame issues the cab and the bed meet at the top of the bed. As you can see from the side picture, this truck has no apparent issues here. Was also told that the body is very "clean" (although in need of new paint). The bed has one place on the passenger side forward of back tire, about the size of a car tag. The tailgate has a place about the size of a soda can, on the lower left side. The truck has always been in the South, and has very little surface rust, which I find surprising, due to the paint condition. Extras...lots of extras!! In the back of the truck there are two doors left and right, an extra dash panel, two drive shafts, a radiator (the one in the engine compartment is in place), four wheels (3 of which with tires, of unknown condition). There are exhaust parts, and the front bumper, but I am pretty sure they are the ones that came off, thus not making them extra, just there. the cap is included, as I have no obvious use for it. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask, I will answer to the best of my ability... My feedback score is a perfect 100%, and I do not want to change that!! If the truck were actually in driving condition, I would be starting the bid at a much higher price, so my loss, your gain. I am a big fan of old cars, and hate to see something just sit around and go downhill, so I hope someone who is mechanically inclined will give it a good new home! Thanks for checking out my auction!

XCAR stages epic drag race between Ford GT40, GT70 and GT
Mon, 19 Aug 2013XCAR has put together what it believes is a first - a drag race between Ford's legendary, Le Mans-winning GT40, the more recent GT supercar it inspired and the little-known GT70 rally car. The three mid-engined monsters were all built for very different purposes, and not surprisingly, they come to battle with very different powertrains.
The GT40 is powered by a thumping, naturally aspirated V8. This example, which looks like a Mark IV model, is likely powered by a 7.0-liter engine, although it's not entirely clear how much power it's putting down. The GT70, meanwhile, was Ford's response to the Lancia Stratos. Considering that the Lancia is one of the greatest rally cars in history and many of you are probably just hearing of the GT70 for the first time, you can imagine how much success Ford had with it. Only six were produced before a change in regulations doomed this mid-engined rally car.
The Ford GT, meanwhile, doesn't really need an introduction. 550 horsepower is on offer from a 5.4-liter, supercharged V8, which keeps the GT competitive even against more modern supercars. 60 miles per hour arrives in well under four seconds while the top speed sits at 212 mph. Not bad for a car that went out of production in 2006.
Ford Transit Skyliner Concept is a Gulfstream for the road
Sat, 12 Apr 2014If you are afraid to fly or just want to arrive at your ultimate destination in absolute comfort, then the Ford Transit Skyliner concept might be the perfect vehicle for you. Built by Galpin Auto Sports and based on a 2015 Transit, the van is basically a private jet on wheels. It even has a touch of Transformers about it with the ability to switch between four modes by pressing a button in a smartphone app.
Based on the long wheelbase, high-roof model with 487 cubic feet of cargo space and 6 feet, 9.5 inches of interior height, the Skyliner has movable captains chairs that shift around among four modes. In theater mode, the seats turn and recline to face a 52-inch retractable movie screen with 7.2 surround sound. For business, a motorized table unfolds, and the chairs gather around it. There is a mode for tailgating where the door opens four-feet wide, and, when traveling, passengers can recline back with footrests that extend for maximum comfort.
To make the ride even plusher, there is a satellite and media server to meet your entertainment needs, and there is even a built-in bar in the back. If this Ford had a bathroom, you could live in it. Of course, you would need to hire a driver to enjoy all the amenities in the back.
Ford confirms 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine for 2014 Fusion
Thu, 11 Apr 2013Earlier this week, reports were swirling 'round the internet about the 2014 Ford Fusion getting a new 1.5-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine. That was... half correct. Ford today confirmed that the 2014 Fusion is, in fact, getting a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost mill, but it has four cylinders, not three.
The new 1.5-liter engine will be the fifth EcoBoost powerplant from Ford Motor Company. Initially to be built at the automaker's Craiova, Romania plant, it will also be offered in the Fusion's twin, the Mondeo, in other markets. This engine will debut at the Shanghai Motor Show next month, and the 1.5-liter is of particular importance in the Chinese market - there is significant tax relief in the People's Republic for vehicles powered by engines with a capacity of 1.5 liters or less.
At a media briefing Thursday, Ford declined to divulge exact power or fuel economy numbers, though Joe Bakaj, vice president of powertrain engineering, told Autoblog that power output should be similar to that of the current 1.6-liter inline-four, and that overall efficiency will be "better than the 1.6." Our earlier report stated that the 1.5-liter four will produce 177 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque - losses of 1 hp and 7 lb-ft versus the 1.6-liter engine. Ford states that the 1.5-liter four will feature many of the same technologies used on the company's 1.0-liter EcoBoost inline-three, including an integrated exhaust manifold that recaptures much of the engine's heat.
