Great shape 1978 Ford F150 Ranger XLT 1/2 ton pickup with 8 foot styleside bed. Good little work truck for the farm, contracting or everyday transportation. Truck is currently state (PA) inspected until 10/13. PA title in hand. Runs, drives and stops great. Driven weekly. Does have some minor issues for a 32 year old truck. Power steering pump makes some noise but functions properly. Transmission front pump also makes noise but it too functions the way it should. Shifts good, goes into all gears including reverse. Valve seals leak and truck smokes, especially when first started. Does not effect the power or drivability. Would not hesitate to drive it 200 mile+. Body is in very good condition. Cab corners, rockers, floors and cab mounts are solid. Bed floor and tail gate also solid. There is some rust around both rear wheel well openings and the right side has a small crease with one piece of trim missing. The bumpers, chrome trim and grille are in excellent condition. Interior is also in excellent condition. Seat and door panels look great (no rips, tears or damage), along with the headliner and steering wheel. The dash pad does have a crack in the center. Tires are like new. This truck is equipped with a class three towing hitch with electric brake and rare factory tilt column. Everything works in this truck. Title shows odometer is exempt and reads 60,765. The condition of this 32 year truck says it could be the actual mileage. Your call. Ford partnering with MIT, Stanford on autonomous vehicle research
Fri, 24 Jan 2014Ask any car engineer what's the biggest variable in achieving fuel economy targets, and he'll tell you "the driver." If one human can't understand human driving behavior enough to be certain about an innocuous number like miles per gallon, how is an autonomous car supposed to figure out what hundreds of other drivers are going to do in the course of a day? Ford has enlisted the help of Stanford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to find out.
Starting with the automated Fusion Hybrid introduced in December, MIT will be developing algorithms that driverless cars can use to "predict actions of other vehicles and pedestrians" and objects within the three-dimensional map provided by its four LIDAR sensors.
The Stanford team will research how to extend the 'vision' of that LIDAR array beyond obstructions while driving, analogous to the way a driver uses the entire width of a lane to see what's ahead of a larger vehicle in front. Ford says it wants to "provide the vehicle with common sense" as part of its Blueprint for Mobility, preparing for an autonomous world from 2025 and beyond.
NHTSA releases updated Takata airbag recalled cars list, but it still has errors

Unfortunately, the government's list still contains errors.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued an updated list of vehicle models that it's urging owners to repair under the mushrooming Takata airbag inflator recall. The latest version adds vehicles from new automakers like Subaru and Ford that are missing from the original announcement, and it also removes erroneous entries from General Motors, leaving only the 2005 Saab 9-2X (a reskinned Subaru WRX), and the 2003-2005 Pontiac Vibe, a joint project with Toyota.
Ford to update Sync, MyFord Touch software... again
Wed, 07 Aug 2013Ford hasn't had the best luck with its MyFord Touch and Sync systems, as the finicky infotainment system has been subject to a critical whooping while customer issues have helped sink Ford's IQS scores. The automaker has made a concerted effort, though, to try and fix MyFord Touch. And while the results have been mixed, The Blue Oval is hoping its latest free update, set to go live next week, will make things better.
According to a report from The Detroit News, the new system promises streamlined voice commands with fewer levels between opening query and actual result. Ford is also addressing where certain options are selected on the touchscreen. Rather than working one of the four quadrants on the homescreen, users will be able to select anywhere within the quadrant to make adjustments.
While it might only be a band-aid for MFT's problems, the fact that Ford is still trying to improve it is a promising sign. It's going to take more than just this update to address the system's ills, though.
