1960 Ford F 350 in pretty good shape for a 53 year old truck. I bought it for a firewood truck but I am having second thoughts, I think it's to nice for that.

It runs well, runs out at 50 +/- mph but the ride is rough by today's standards. Steering is amazingly tight, breaks pull slightly to the right, trans sits in gear and is quiet. Transmission is a 4 on the floor and the shift pattern is kinda loose but works fine once your use to it. Headlights, brights, blinkers work, break lights work but stay on, gauges, fuel and water temp work. Doors slam shut tight and are in line. Drivers window has a crack which is not bad, the window functions fine. Passenger window has multiple cracks and a small hole, The window functions fine but should probably be replaced. Windshield, rear window and window vents are in good condition with no cracks and function properly. Wipers are vacuum and need new blades, the previous owner said they function fine. However, I have not tried them. Heater works well.

Sheet metal is ok. Doors, cab and floor have been worked on, they look good but were not professionally done, fuel tank works well and doesn't seem to leak. Tires are ok, frame seems solid, breaks seem good and the cooling system seems to work fine and doesn't seem to leak. Battery and generator seem to work fine but I haven't owned it long enough to know. The exhaust system is ok at best and will require attention.

When I purchased it I drove it over a 100 miles home and other than complete strangers gawking and waving the trip went well and was a non event. Wherever I go people come up to me and tell me how cool it is. This has got me thinking maybe it's to nice for a firewood truck and maybe I should go find an old 1989 beater and beat that to death. So I have decided to put it up for auction. I don't want to give it away as my family is already in love with it. So, if it brings a fair price I will let it go, if not, I guess it will make a fun grocery getter.

The truck runs well and turns heads. It is 53 years old so it will need some attention. In the right hands it could be made show quality. Or park it in front of your business as is and watch the folks, young and old, flock to it.

Good luck bidding. I can be reached via email or by phone at 517 673 3030. Thank you. Kevin

2015 Ford Mustang option prices gallop onto the web

Tue, 22 Apr 2014

The 2015 Ford Mustang is one of the most anticipated cars of the year, despite the fact that production hasn't yet begun. What's a pony car fan to do? It turns out that Ford already has pricing and options information about the vehicle in its dealer ordering system. A few enterprising folks have snapped some pictures from it and have posted them online. You might not be able to drive your car yet, but you can at least see what it might cost.
At the moment, Ford appears to be splitting the Mustang into five models - 3.7-liter V6, 2.3-liter EcoBoost, GT with the 5.0-liter V8, 50th Anniversary and SVT. There are 10 available paint colors, 2 of which require an extra outlay. Triple Yellow is $495, and Ruby Red Tint is $395. Regardless of model, navigation goes for $795, and reverse parking assist is $295.
For both the EcoBoost and GT, the six-speed automatic tacks an extra $1,195 to the sticker, and adaptive cruise control is the same price. The GT also has a limited-slip 3.55 rear end for $395 and a GT Performance package for $2,495. Recaro leather seats add an extra $1,595. For the EcoBoost, there's something called EcoBoost Performance package for $1,995. The system doesn't say what the packages include.

Shelby Cobra, Mercedes 300SL and 1947 Woodie from Petersen Museum headed to auction

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

The changes happening at the Petersen Museum have been making the rounds in major press, but it probably won't be until August 18, during Pebble Beach, when we get the full story on what's happening; that's where and when museum reps plan on announcing the way forward for the SoCal institution. In the meantime, the museum is still reorganizing its collection, and that means auctioning some of its showpieces at this weekend's Auctions America event in Burbank.
Three of the stars are a 1964 Shelby Cobra 289, one of less than 20 produced with a three-speed C-4 automatic transmission, a 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300SL owned by actor Robert Stack and the last 1948 Ford Sportsman 'Woodie' ever produced. The Cobra, now restored to its original white exterior and red leather interior, was a factory demonstrator that first sold for $5,250. Showing just 38,950 miles on the odometer, its pre-sale estimate is $800,000 to $1 million.
The 300SL is actually a 1957 model but wasn't titled until Robert Stack took possession in 1960. The lead actor in the The Untouchables TV series used to drive by the Sunset Boulevard Mercedes dealership to ogle the car, but couldn't justify spending the money to buy it. When he and the producer of The Untouchables won Emmys for the show, the producer, who happened to be Desi Arnaz, bought the car for Stack. He owned it his whole life, it has been left as Stack drove it and still bears the California license plate "UNTCHBL."

Ford Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost sales robust in early going

Tue, 13 May 2014

Okay, okay, okay, so I was just a smidge wrong. Those that read my review of the Ford Fiesta with the new 1.0-liter, EcoBoost engine will know that while I really enjoyed the torquey little three-cylinder, I was concerned that Ford's decision to force 1.0-liter owners into a manual transmission, steel wheels and one trim level might hurt sales of the new engine. I was also concerned that the promised 45-mile-per-gallon highway rating wouldn't be enough to tempt buyers into trying an engine that's so far outside of what the general public is use to. My concerns, though, seem to have been for naught.
While not doing a booming business on the triple-equipped Fiesta, Ford is seeing a take rate of four to eight percent per month in the engine's first few months on sale. Now, four to eight percent might not sound like a lot - if, like last year, the Fiesta sells around 71,000 units, there'd be barely 5,600 1.0-liter models on the road. It is also small potatoes relative to the take rate on EcoBoost-equipped vehicles across the Ford range, which US sales analyst Erich Merkle estimates to be roughly 35 to 40 percent of retail sales. Still, according to The Detroit News, the 1.0-liter is getting adopted at roughly the same rate as the sparkling Fiesta ST, which should be a solid indication of just how well this little engine is doing.
The 1.0-liter's success "really speaks volumes, not just to what we're doing with the Fiesta, but with EcoBoost in general," Merkle told Autoblog.
