This 1956 Victoria Hot Rod Gasser has been hibernating in storage since 1968! The car was built in the early 1960's, and is a "True Original" Gasser, not just screwed together last month. The car was street raced in Milwaukee on Wisconsin Avenue, and raced at Great Lakes Dragaway from 1961 to 1968, and has been stored since. The car was ran with a 312 Tri-Power and a B&M Hydro-Stick Transmission. When the owner/builder died it was left to his son who had no interest in cars. The 312 and Hyrdo-Stick was out of the car and freshened at the time of the owners death, but stolen from his garage and has never resurfaced. A friend of mine bought the car complete, less engine and transmission, and stored it all of this time. I purchased the car from him, and have a 390 long block, Top-Loader transmission, Mickey Thompson cross ram and valve covers, which ARE INCLUDED in the sale, along with additional parts. The old time "Pie Crust" slicks and Fenton front wheels with the original "Trac-Action F78-15 Front Runner" tires are still in place! The period correct "Rupert" safety belts (Harness) are also in place with July of 1965 dates on them! Truly a very rare original find; there can't be too many left like this. There is so much original "cool stuff" about this time capsule that I will do my best to describe it the best I can.

The Victoria body was originally black and white two-tone, and later got the 1960's "Psychedelic" blue with gold fades. The body appears to be super solid with no visible rot in the floors or body. There has been rockers panels replaced apparently back when the car was painted. The patina is fantastic, but with any 1960's lacquer paint job, it shows cracking and surface rust in areas. The trim is great, especially considering age. The interior has custom GM front and rear seats - 60's correct, with custom door and rear panels; the steel trim was chromed and looks great. The dash is incredible! It has a: Tachometer, Motor Minder, Trans Oil Temp, Battery Voltage, Oil Pressure, Engine Oil Temp, Water Temp, Differential Temp, Cold Tank Temp (I'll get to that in a minute!), and a Shift Light that lights up and says "Let's Make Love"! The carpet is good, I wouldn't change a thing inside.

Here is where it gets good. The builder/owner of the car raced it at the track and on the street, so he added some groovy features to make this possible. There is a pump mounted behind the radiator position that pumped transmission and differential oil through the coolers in front! But what gets better is that under the package tray is an ice/water tank that has an electric pump, that, with the flick of a toggle switch, pumped ice cold water through aluminum tubing inside the air cleaner to cool the intake charge when racing! The car also has big fuel line throughout that was apparently cooled by the feature. Looking closely under the hood you will see a fresh air duct installed on the driver's side, just like the factory part on the passenger's side, that used to feed air to the heater motor. Put them both together and run them into an air-cleaner bonnet and you have ram air!

Scroll through the pictures and you will see the true "Milwaukee" and "Polish" background the original builder when you read the caption on the core support panel! Just great history in the original 60's "Gasser"! The tow hooks were mandatory and are still in place. The innovative traction devices on the rear of the car are something to behold, along with the mandatory "SOCK IT TO ME" barely visible, painted on the rear end housing.

Well that's about all my fingers can type. I want it to be understood that the engine and transmission included with this car ARE NOT installed, and that THE CAR DOES NOT RUN AND DRIVE. It will take mechanical work to make it operational. My son and I Drag Race in a very competitive class, and costs to do so force me to part with this car. This is the one I always wanted, but racing with my son before he is married and becomes a family man is important to me.

Ford dealers offered discounts on tools to fix aluminum

Mon, 27 Jan 2014

With the introduction of the aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 (and the likely use of aluminum in future Ford products), Ford is looking to help its dealerships reduce costs related to repairing this more labor-intensive material. Automotive News is reporting that Ford dealers with body shops will require an estimated $30,000 to $50,000 in equipment and training to work on aluminum, and to help alleviate the financial burden of the new F-150, Ford has announced a special 20-percent discount on this equipment.
Dealers will be able to save up to $10,000 on tools such as welders, air-filtration systems and rivet guns and to create aluminum-specific work stations. The new F-150 goes on sale in the fourth quarter, and dealers have until October 31 to take advantage of this deal, according to the report.

Ford unveils Mustang 50th anniversary logo, plans merchandise

Tue, 26 Mar 2013

The Ford Mustang turns 50 years old this year, and this is the logo that will announce the milestone occasion on a special line of merchandise. The graphic is the result of an internal design competition, and Ford will give 50 different companies the license to use it on traditional logo merchandise like shirts and watches, along with some untraditional items like pinball machines.
Ford is going to begin the celebrations at this week's New York Auto Show and continue them throughout the year, but April 17 is the official birthday of the the pony car that just won't quit. You can expect to start seeing anniversary merchandise in the next couple of weeks.

Ford Escort returns... as a concept

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

Ford is kickin' it old school at the Shanghai Motor Show for 2013 with a new Escort Concept - "a name that stirs up thoughts of basic, affordable transportation rather than great driving dynamics or bold design" as we said in our initial preview of the small C-segment sedan. Or, as Ford puts it, "Customers in China described seeking a vehicle that is stylish - but not one that is arrogant or pretentious." Potato, potahto...
It's an interesting amalgam of design notes with Ford's recent and stylish hexagonal grille up front, flanked by some pretty busy LED light clusters and chrome-trimmed air intakes at the lower extremities of the fascia, but the Escort Concept is not altogether unattractive. Besides its external appearance, we really don't have much information to report - Ford has not yet hinted at what may be powering this little machine, but we'd expect something with four cylinders and less that 2.0 liters of displacement sending a modest number of horses to the front tires.
It probably goes without saying, but we don't expect to see this Escort make its way to the United States, since we already have the Focus and the Fiesta battling it out in the econobox segment. That said, it's very likely to spawn a production model that will roll out here in China and in other developing market where multiple C-segment entries are becoming increasingly common. Check out our high-res image gallery of live images above, and let us know what you think of the car's styling, then scroll down below for the official press release.
