2002 Focus SVT. Original adult owner. 4th car in family,garaged, excellent condition, no accidents, low 68k miles. Synthetic oil since new, meticulously maintained,never tracked or abused, regularly hand washed and waxed. Quick, super handling, practical hot hatch that came with all available options including the Shaker sound system with powered sub-woofer. Just passed Massachusetts emissions and safety inspection in January. Body in great shape with only very minor blemishes. Alloys are fine and have no curb rash. Interior tidy with no rips or tears and only minimal wear. Car is a blast to drive and averages 24mpg. On trips it does 26-27mpg. Accommodates five passenger with a decent amount of luggage space.The only two issue with the car that I'm aware of are: The driver side seat warmer is not functioning. The fuse is ok, so I'm guessing it's either the switch or heating element that has failed. The second item is the tires. (Pirelli P6's all around). The fronts are fine. The rears passed inspection, but will need replacement within the next year. Maintenance within the past year includes new belts, 02 sensor, and battery. Currently half way through Mobil 1 extended life oil change. Ready to drive and enjoy. The addition of an Alfa Romeo restoration project has put garage space at a premium so reluctantly the SVT will go to a new owner. Please bear in mind that although in excellent condition this is a used car and is not perfect. That being said, a cleaner,better maintained Focus SVT will be difficult to find. The reserve is reasonable, but reflects condition and mileage. In fairness to the auction process please don't ask to have the reserve revealed. Suffice it to say that you would be hard pressed to find a better performing, cleaner car of any make for the money. Former Cadillac boss Butler takes Ford tech job
Tue, 07 Jan 2014When Don Butler made the surprising decision to leave his post as Cadillac's VP of global strategic development, it was a surprise. Citing a desire to "recalibrate, reassess my priorities" in that August announcement, it wasn't entirely clear where Butler - a virtual General Motors lifer after spending nearly 30 years with the company - would end up. Turns out he took a trip to Dearborn.
Butler has taken a position in the newly created position of Executive Director of Connected Vehicles and Services at Ford, where he'll be responsible for the Blue Oval's global connectivity strategy. "Not only does Don understand the connected car landscape, but probably just as important, he understands customer expectations," said Raj Nair, who, as Group Vice President of Global Product Development, is Butler's new boss. "Having a leader with technology experience both inside and outside the industry is a rare combination - we're excited to have Don join our team."
As Ford has received its fair share of flak for the sometimes recalcitrant MyFord Touch infotainment system and its Sync voice-controls, it appears that Butler has his work cut out for him.
Ford invests $682 million in Edge-producing Canadian facility
Sun, 22 Sep 2013Ford announced that it's investing $682 million in its Oakville assembly plant in Ontario, Canada, to make it a global manufacturing plant, which the automaker also says secures 2,800 jobs there. Including this injection of cash, Ford has invested over $2 billion in Canada in the last decade, starting with nearly $1 billion for Oakville in 2004, and over $570 million for its Essex Engine Plant in 2010.
The move to make Oakville a global manufacturer of Ford vehicles means, "If consumers suddenly shift their buying habits, we can seamlessly change our production mix without having to idle a plant," says Joe Hinrichs, Ford's president of the Americas.
Ford says that the latest investment will help it meet North American demand for the Oakville-produced Edge crossover, which is on track this year to beat 2007's US sales record of 130,000 Edges. The Ford Flex and Lincoln MKX and MKT are also manufactured at the plant.
Ex-GM VP LaNeve takes over Lincoln ad agency
Wed, 10 Apr 2013Those of you that caught yesterday's op-ed about Lincoln will have heard already, but Mark LaNeve has taken the helm at Team Detroit. Once the North American vice president of sales, service and marketing for General Motors, LaNeve will now head up the agency that handles all of Ford advertising. LaNeve will also run the account for Lincoln. While at GM from 2001 to 2009, the exec oversaw ad campaigns like Cadillac's Breakthrough and sales initiatives like "Employee Pricing for Everyone."
He left in 2009 to join Allstate as chief marketing officer, oversaw the creation of the Mayhem ad spots and was moved into the role of VP of agency operations overseeing Allstate's 10,000 agents. He resigned from the insurer in February 2012 for personal reasons and joined Team Detroit in August 2012 as chief operating officer, in charge of satellite offices in New York and internationally. He replaces ex-CEO Cameron McNaughton, and will continue to hold the title of COO.
Lincoln is trying to get its 2013 back to rights after putting big dollar commercials for the 2013 MKZ on television then having production glitches preventing cars from getting to dealerships. With rumors of a relaunch in the works, it's no surprise LaNeve has been given the reins - and from here it looks like the brand is desperate for the kind of magic he's proved he can marshal. Perhaps he can start by calling a mulligan on the renaming exercise that gave us the hoary "Lincoln Motor Company" and go back to oh, say, "Lincoln." Then he can ask the product folks to get to work on the MKC concept...
