2012 Ford Focus Sel Hatchback Race Red 4-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Thompsons Station, Tennessee, United States
This Race Red Focus Hatchback was special ordered for my wife after she used a similar rental for a week. It has been garaged every night, serviced on time, and had all recalls completed. The only warranty work needed was due to a bulging rear tire which was replaced last year. It is in excellent condition, with the only defects some minor stone chips around the front grille, commensurate with highway driving. It has so many optional extras that it is similar to the Titanium. We bought it using the Ford Friends and Family discount and paid $26,150 for it in the summer of 2011. It still has an outstanding loan associated with it so that would need to be paid off. We owe about $15,500. The interior is beautiful, with no defects at all. The Nav/Sirius/MyFord Touch screen are all working beautifully. The leather is like new and the heated seats get warm fast! The dual zone climate control works very well and the Sony Premium Sound with sub-woofer is amazing. This car is the perfect example of a single owner vehicle that has never been mistreated. It regularly returns over 34mpg average for a tank, and will do about 400 miles per tankful. It has hardly ever had more than one person in the car at any time, so consequently it has no wear of note. Reason for sale: Wife wants an SUV :) If you are looking for a Ford Focus Hatch this is a genuinely great vehicle that still has almost 20,000 miles of factory powertrain and roadside assistance remaining. |

Ford trademarking 'Mach 1,' possibly for Mustang
Thu, 24 Oct 2013A legendary name might be accompanying the redesigned, 2015 Mustang when it finally makes its world debut - Mach 1. Stumbled upon by the team at Ford Authority, the Mach 1 title was found in a trademark filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office, and would revive a name last used on the fourth-generation, 2003 Mustang.
While the the 2003 vintage was well and good, the Mach 1 is really remembered for a three-year run from 1969 to 1971 - it's best to just forget the emissions-choked 1972 to 1978 Mach 1s - when power output ranged from a modest 250 horsepower with the two-barrel, 351-cubic-inch Windsor V8 to "375 hp" (actual output was rumored to be well north of 400 horsepower) with the righteous, 429-cubic-inch Super Cobra Jet V8.
What does the title hold for the sixth-generation Mustang? It's tough to say. The fanatics at Ford Authority seem to think Mach 1 could take the place of the Shelby GT500 at the top of the Mustang hierarchy, which sounds like a valid argument. At the same time, we could see the SVT Cobra moniker returning for the flagship model, and the Mach 1 doing battle with the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 (unless the Boss 302 were to return). Confounding things is the historical precedent - the Mach 1 was responsible for the death of the Mustang GT in 1969, so it might make sense as a volume performance model.
Detroit 3 small cars lay an egg in latest Consumer Reports reliability study
Tue, 28 Oct 2014Consumer Reports has released its Annual Auto Reliability Survey and the results are, in a word, interesting. While we already covered the score-damaging effects of infotainment systems, there's another big angle to the data that's getting some attention - the utterly dismal scores of the Detroit Three's small car offerings.
The turbocharged Dodge Dart and Chevrolet Cruze, as well as the Ford Fiesta were their respective brands' lowest-scoring models, a stat that's made worse by the fact that the American automakers finished 25th, 21st and 23rd, respectively.
That's not acceptable for The Detroit Free Press' auto critic, Mark Phelan, who has penned a scathing critique of the D3's small car reliability scores, arguing that GM, Ford and Chrysler are "out of excuses."
George W. Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 fizzles with $300,000 bid at Barrett-Jackson [UPDATE: w/video]
Sun, 20 Jan 2013Despite some truly impassioned pleading from Jay Leno himself - including calling on Arizona's notoriously Republican-rich voters to beat the $600,000 level set the last time Leno sold a vehicle for this particular charity... in California - bidding for George Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck stalled at $300,000.
All proceeds will be sent to the Fisher House Foundation, so at least it's $300K going to a good cause. Feel free to check out the live image gallery above, which includes shots showing Leno's skills helming the auction, and read through the official auction description below.
*UPDATE: Video of the auction and Leno's prods to the crowd for more money can now be seen below.
