1959 Ford Galaxie Retractable Skyliner on 2040-cars
Madison, Tennessee, United States
Beautiful 1959 Ford Galaxie Retractable Skyliner. I mainly buy/sell/collect Packards but occasionally deal in 50s American classics and this one is a really nice survivor. I drove this car home 10 miles in stop and go traffic and it performed well with no problems. It has obviously been well taken care of and everything matches the VIN info perfect. I took the pics under the carport to show the deepness of the paint, it's not show quality paint but very presentable. Chrome bumpers very nice and brightwork nice as well. Interior very nice, dash very nice, door panels very nice, undercarriage clean, brand new Coker WWW, engine clean bay and engine clean & detailed with fresh paint on air cleaner and valve covers--I've been told the valve covers and air cleaner were Red but also could be Orange. When I bought the car I was told everything worked perfect, the top was down and I closed it, it worked perfect and I drove it home. The next time I retracted the top everything worked perfect until the front roof finished unscrewing and then it would not fully unlock the two rear roof locks. I'm by no means an expert on these Ford retractables but have been told it simply needs a "Tray Limit Switch".
As I say with all the cars I sell it is not my intention to mislead the buyer in any way so please ask any questions you may have and I'll answer them honestly. The reserve is well below the NADA avg. for these cars and the car is definitely nicer than avg.condition. The car has 63902 miles and I was told that was correct. Here is the VIN info and it all matches correctly: VIN: C9EW284742

Overseas buyers are welcome but please be prepared to pay and arrange Shipping, I've used Fromm America for overseas shipping with no problems--they are very good. On May-08-14 at 15:40:47 PDT, seller added the following information: I had a question about the deck & top so I thought I would post this to help clarify. Deck lid is fully closed now and not stuck at all. The deck lid opens up perfect and when it stops the front of the roof uncrews perfect and then when the roof starts to retract it doesn't unlock at rear of roof unlocking areas--it wants to retract and you can tell everything is working except the unlocking part. Also, front bumper on is not dented it's just the refelction. |

Bill Ford wins National Pond Hockey Championship with employees
Tue, 11 Feb 2014Who says executives aren't people? This past weekend, Bill Ford, executive chairman of Ford Motor Company, and a group of employees trekked up to Eagle River, WI for a few games of pond hockey. Team Ford took part in the 2014 Labatt Blue/USA Pond Hockey Championship, capturing its fifth title in the 50+ Tier 1 Division.
"It feels great to win," Ford, who plays on the team alongside other Ford employees, told the USA Hockey website. "It was fun to play [River Valley Pioneers] because they're great guys and we play them every year. We finally beat them, which we were due. It was a very clean game, a tough game."
The FoMoCo team managed to score seven goals to River Valley's two, and went undefeated in all five of its games during the tourney. Take a look below for the official press release on Team Ford's win.
More evidence GT500-replacement will be named GT350
Tue, 17 Dec 2013During the recent unveiling of the 2015 Ford Mustang, we saw the car in both V6 and GT form, but we'll have to wait a little bit longer to see the successor to the Shelby GT500. In the meantime, though, it looks like SVTPerformance.com has confirmed reports that this high-performance model will bring the Shelby GT350 name back to Ford.
According to the forum post, a user found the Shelby GT350 name on a Ford promo website listing its 2015 lineup. The Shelby GT350 name was first used on a Mustang back in 1965, and most recently it has been a model created for customers as a post-title purchase by Shelby American. As for that car, Shelby confirmed earlier in the year that its GT350 would be phased out at the end of this month.
The million-dollar question for Mustang and Shelby enthusiasts is when we'll see next factory Shelby GT350. Last we heard it was planned for a debut at the New York Auto Show. We've included our previous spy shots of this hi-po, sixth-gen Mustang, and we've also captured it on spy video showing off its exhaust note.
J Mays on the 2015 Ford Mustang
Thu, 05 Dec 2013J Mays, head of design at Ford, may be retiring from the company after 16 years, but not before showing the world his swan song: the 2015 Mustang. Ford officially revealed its new coupe and convertible to the public at events around the world on Thursday, including a live unveiling on ABC's Good Morning America, and Mays was in attendance at the automaker's home event in Dearborn, MI, which is where we caught up with him for a few words about his new baby.
"It's a joy" to design the Mustang, Mays told Autoblog, adding that this sixth-generation coupe is his "favorite design so far." Of course, the 2015 model takes cues from all of the generations that came before it, but Mays said it was important to edit down the specific elements from previous models, leaving just enough off to let the customer "participate and fill in the blanks."
"If it doesn't sell itself, you probably aren't a Mustang fan."
