1961 Ford Galaxie 4 Door on 2040-cars

This is a 1961 Ford Galaxie 4 door in good condition for what she is. We started working on her just over a year ago, but have not had the time to really devote. Started on the body work on the drivers side doors and have a new drivers front fender as the original one somehow got smashed up (I say somehow because this car is a TANK). Will need new tires and a new tranny, motor is fine. We have bled the breaks a couple times and it seems that is something that will need to be done every once in a while unless you change those out, which was in my original plan for her. Will need new ignition switch as well - right now, we basically hot wire it to get her started, but when she's going, she sounds mean. Seats will need to be re-upholstered, but the back seat is in decent condition if you wanted to wait on that.

As for extras, here is what I have invested for her so far: full moon hubcaps, fender skirts, purple flake steering wheel, new carb (not sure if the hubby kept on or took back off, but I know we have it somewhere still), new drivers side front fender.

I removed most of the chrome from the outside of her because I wanted a cleaner look. The only body chrome line left is the one going down her fins - however, they are not in pristine condition, so I was constantly on the lookout for new ones of those also. The drivers outside handle - whoever had it before me apparently decided putting a screw right through the chrome was a brilliant idea, so while I still have it, it's not currently on the car.

This is my baby, but times are rough and I just don't have the time or money to resurrect Medusa to her glory...so my loss is your gain. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I have the title signed over from the previous owner, but never transferred it into my name. But it is a CLEAR title.

**This is a local pickup ONLY - I will not deliver or ship this car. I do not own a trailer and I will forewarn you that she is a BOAT so you will need a pretty big trailer for her to fit on**

10/27 - Realized I did not outright mention that the trunk lock has been shaved and I DO still have the gas cover plate. In the picture of the rear, you can see the gas cover does not have the chrome plate on it, but I still have that in my possession

2014 Ford F-150 gets CNG option

Wed, 31 Jul 2013

Ford is toiling away, installing heavy-duty engine components into select 3.7-liter V6s to allow them to run on compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) in addition to gasoline. That's nothing new, but now, Ford has announced that it will offer the 2014 F-150 with this engine configuration, bringing the Blue Oval's total number of CNG/LPG-friendly vehicles up to eight. The F-150 will be the only half-ton pickup on the market that can run on these gases.
Ford will charge $315 per vehicle to equip the optional engine, but the trucks won't be ready to run on the alternative fuels straight from the factory and must be upfitted with additional equipment. A Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier will install a separate fuel system for the compressed gases at a cost of $7,500 to $9,500, depending on fuel tank size. With the right-size tank, the F-150 equipped with the CNG/LPG-prepped engine can go 750 miles on one tank of gas, according to Ford, averaging 23 miles per gallon.
The practice of offering flex-fuel vehicles is gaining momentum as businesses take advantage of cheap gas. CNG can be bought for $2.11/gallon on average (per gasoline equivalent), and sometimes for as little as $1.00 in some parts of the US, Ford states. "With the money saved using CNG, customers could start to see payback on their investment in as little as 24 to 36 months," says Jon Coleman, Ford's fleet sustainability and technology manager. The automaker expects to sell a total of 15,000 CNG/LPG-prepped vehicles in the 2014 model year.

Ford reveals concept trucks that ultimately became Atlas

Wed, 03 Apr 2013

The Ford Atlas Concept was one of the quiet success stories of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and now Ford has given us a quick glimpse as to how that creation came to be. Designers actually combined two early sketches to build the Atlas. One, called the Bullet Train, is a futuristic, aerodynamic creation, while the other, aptly named the Locomotive, features the squared off proportions we're familiar with.
Once designers settled on the truck's proportions, they began nailing down exactly which attributes they wanted the final design to have. The Concept's notched windshield originated as a forked glass roof that seamlessly transitioned into the windscreen.
Likewise, designers wanted to fit the truck's tailgate with a storage compartment for tools and a first aid kit, but settled on the dual-purpose step/cargo cradle. Interestingly enough, the concept's active aero shutter wheels actually originated in some of the earliest sketches. Check out the photos and slides here for a closer look.

2015 Ford F-150 appearance guide takes the truck from mild to wild with options

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

We already know that the 2015 Ford F-150 has a base price coming in at just $395 more than the 2014 model, despite all of the new standard tech and aluminum-intensive construction in the upcoming version. Now the Blue Oval is finally giving us an idea of what that extra money actually buys customers, with the release of the appearance guide for its latest pickup.
The guide basically explains everything you could want to know about what changes occur among the multitude of trims on the 2015 F-150. There are five levels for the new truck. Although, that is something of a misnomer because most of them are also available with either Sport or Chrome packages, plus the FX4 Off-Road option with Hill Descent Control, an electronic-locking rear axle, off-road shocks and skid plates. With 13 available colors, including 4 new ones, and 14 wheel designs in various sizes, pickup buyers should have no problem specing one to fit their style.
The lineup starts out with the base XL with a black grille and fascia and 17-inch wheels. However, across most of the range the Sport and Chrome packages are also available to add either body-color or chrome accents, respectively. Next up is the XLT with a standard chrome grille but also available with a black, billet-style one with a body-color surround. Things really start getting plush with the Lariat model with leather trim, a three-bar front end and 18-inch wheels. The King Ranch sticks with that look but adds power running boards, 20-inch wheels and two-tone paint. Finally, the top-dog Platinum is all about bling with yet another frontal design, chrome door handles and mirror caps, a big logo running across the tailgate and more.
